This was especially true after Dragonfire Wine became widely available and Dragonkiss Gardens opened in all the major cities. In the past few months alone, tens of thousands of refugees had followed merchant caravans there.
White Sheep Town now had more than fifty thousand registered residents and had all but reached capacity. Its economy had grown increasingly prosperous as well. The comfortable, abundant lives of its people were a living advertisement for Holy Flame Island.
So Samwell and the others established more than a dozen large manors in Holy Flame Island's interior and settled over thirty thousand people there. Of course, all of them had volunteered to become subjects of Feast Island.
Meanwhile, fifty or sixty thousand refugees had gathered in the resettlement area near Holy Flame Island's Fighting Arena. However, construction was underway at both Holy Flame Castle and Holy Flame Island's docks, providing ample jobs, so they were living fairly well.
Work on Feast Island offered not only generous pay but also hearty meals. Thus, many refugees expelled from King's Landing headed straight for Holy Flame Island.
