The devastating injuries to his wings left the already cumbersome Purple Prince unable to keep his balance, and he tumbled clumsily toward the ground.

Dreamfyre pressed her advantage without mercy, pursuing him with bites and raking claws, occasionally unleashing an explosive blast of dragonfire.

The great dragon's rapid descent forced Myracis and Antheros to fly off him for the moment. After all, any movement from a dragon of his size could inflict terrible injuries on them.

But just after the Purple Prince fell below the clouds, his claws caught Dreamfyre's by a lucky stroke. With their claws locked together, he used his superior size and weight to drag her into a steep descent as well. The two great dragons began spinning rapidly through the air.

With her strength and enormous wings, Dreamfyre soon arrested their fall. Seeing this, Myracis and Antheros quickly used their superior speed to flank the Purple Prince, breathing dragonfire at his head from either side.

Though the searing dragonfire left his head throbbing with unbearable pain, being locked together with Dreamfyre had temporarily saved him from falling. Using their interlocked claws for leverage, he whipped out his most terrifying weapon: his tail, studded with blade-like spikes.

With her incredible speed and heightened senses, Myracis narrowly dodged the lethal strike. Antheros, opposite her, was not so fortunate and took a direct hit from the Purple Prince's tail. His bladed tail plunged straight into her belly.

Then, with a savage flick, he ripped her belly open, nearly tearing out her entrails. The torrent of dragon blood was scattered by the wind into a cloud of blood.

"Screee!"

Antheros, who had never suffered such an injury before, howled in agony. Fortunately, the golden energy had transformed her back in Oldtown; otherwise, that blow might well have killed her.
