Since the Long Night ended, the trout population in the Three Forks of the Riverlands had exploded. They grew at an astonishing rate, too, and fish more than ten meters long had become a common sight.
The giants were especially abundant around Riverrun, which was surrounded by great rivers on three sides. Sitting in House Tully's castle at sunset and watching countless enormous fish leap across the water had become one of the area's unique attractions.
Although these abundant trout gave the food-starved people of the Riverlands a reliable source of sustenance, they also posed a greater danger to fishermen. After all, a trout more than ten meters long could easily capsize an ordinary fishing boat.
"Anga!"
Today, Danyla had reached Riverrun on her tour, riding the Great Dragon Myracis with her children.
Danyla had sent the Great Dragons Rafa and Dreamfyre to hunt in the Sunset Sea and the Summer Sea respectively. She intended to seize the last lingering opportunity offered by the magical energy tide and wipe out as many dangerous magical creatures as possible.
This would allow her to stockpile vast quantities of resources from magical creatures while also reducing the hazards of navigating those two seas.
Meanwhile, Isara rode her Azathos and remained stationed in Goldmine City in Dorne, sweeping the Greenblood and the Dorne Desert daily for snakes, insects, rats, and ants.
"Mother, look! So many trout! They're huge!"
Myracis's arrival threw the trout in the Red Fork into a panic. They scattered wildly, leaping out of the water in shoals.
"Screech!"
With a single blast of dragonfire, Myracis roasted a vast swath of them. Then she beat her wings, sweeping the fish into the air. Deftly opening her enormous jaws, she sucked dozens of delicious trout, ranging from several meters to over ten meters
