"Mr. L, the pressure from the White House has reached breaking point."
Agent "4" lowered his voice. "Because of James Walker's self-exposure, the CIA and the FBI are now in complete chaos.
"They suspect you've switched sides. Some have even proposed 'cleaning out' this place."
L said nothing. He was mechanically stuffing an enormous lollipop into his mouth.
"They're afraid." L's voice was hoarse, with a trace of mockery.
"Afraid of Kira, and even more afraid of the notebook in my hands.

"The coordinates point to an old warehouse in the South District.
"Tell them it's a 'storage site for notebook fragments' that we intercepted."
L stared coldly at the screen. "If Kira is still in Linhai City, he'll be watching the FBI's movements.
"As long as he sends someone there or tries to hack into the surveillance system at those coordinates, I can catch his digital wake."
This was L's all-or-nothing gamble.

Kannazuki sat at his desk, an electronic map of Linhai City before him.
Ryuk floated near the ceiling, idly licking the dust in the air.
"Light, those guys in suits have headed to the South District. Aren't you going to take a look?"
"It's a trap."
Kannazuki adjusted his glasses and tapped the warehouse in the South District on the map. "L is getting too impatient.
"He's abandoned his defensive stance and started feeding us 'false data.'
"That means he's realized that logical deduction alone can no longer keep pace with my killings."
Kannazuki closed the map
