Yor hesitated, about to explain. "That was..." That had been an assassination job under the guise of acupuncture and massage.
Yor hurried to explain to Twilight. "It's not like that, Mr. Loid. Um..."
Yor thought he might think less of her, but to her surprise, Twilight responded quite differently. "That's truly admirable!"
Yor was stunned, and so was everyone else present. "Huh?"
"Yor lost her parents at a very young age. To raise her little brother, she was even willing to make personal sacrifices."
"Enduring difficult working conditions for someone or something isn't possible without profound resolve. It's something to be proud of."
Twilight spoke with a strong, clear voice and unwavering conviction.
Richie's eyes sparkled beside them. "Wow-Mother is so amazing!" Sure enough, only someone in the same line of work could truly understand a colleague. A faint smile touched the corners of Richie's eyes.
"Let's go home, Yor!" Twilight took Richie's little hand and spoke to Yor.
"Thank you for having us, everyone!" Yor was delighted. She and Twilight had grown a little closer.
Twilight drove the van loaded with artwork, with Yor in the passenger seat and Richie still standing between the two seats.
Richie was so excited he nearly jumped up. He clapped and sang, "Jane fell in love with John..."
Twilight frowned slightly. "Richie, what nonsense are you singing now?"
Richie grinned, showing his teeth. "Father, Richie is just singing whatever comes to mind."
Twilight didn't particularly mind. Children always had all sorts of strange ideas.
He turned to Yor with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry I called myself your husband."
Yor hurried to respond. "I-it's all right."
Twilight said worriedly, "If your brother finds out, how will you explain it to him?"
"Sir, I do have a suggestion..." Blushing, Yor wanted to ask Twilight outright whether they could make their pretend relationship real and get married.
Richie piped up again, as though something had suddenly occurred to him. "Mother, you can say you forgot you were married!"
Yor's eyes lit up. She hadn't expected Richie to know how she could explain things to her brother. "Richie, you're so clever! But... well..."
Richie planted his hands on his hips and raised his chin. "That's right! I'm a real genius!"
Vroom! Screech!
A similar vehicle came up behind them, charging forward as though determined to ram Twilight's van off the road.
Twilight gritted his teeth. "What's going on?!" The remnants of the smuggling gang.
Richie hurriedly grabbed Twilight's seat and clung to it. "Father, the mentally ill patients are back! Hurry and treat them!"
Twilight tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his expression hardening. "Miss Yor, hold on tight!"
Richie trembled. "Father, what about me?"
Twilight frowned. "I'm sure Richie will hold on tight."
Richie helplessly hugged Twilight's seat tighter. "Uh..."
The two vehicles jostled and rammed each other on the narrow road.
The people inside felt as though they were riding a roller coaster.
Twilight began analyzing the situation. How did they know I was here? Could there be a tracking device in the artwork? You've really let your guard down, Twilight.
The reckless car beside them rammed them again.
Richie leaned close to Twilight. "Father, hurry and take down these mentally ill patients. Your patients are way too manic!"
Richie pretended to be frightened, but inside, he was wildly excited. Thrilling, thrilling! This is so thrilling!
Yor finally asked, "Mr. Loid, who are these people? Are they all your patients?"
Twilight was deeply grateful for Richie's earlier nonsense. "Well... um... yes, they are... It seems these patients suffering from hysteria haven't fully calmed down yet."
Yor blinked her big eyes, her admiration for Twilight growing further. "Oh... A doctor's work really isn't easy either!"
Richie seized the chance to flatter him too. "Father is mighty! Father is awesome! Father is amazing!"
Both Twilight's mouth and his eyes twitched involuntarily. Yor had actually believed him. "Anyway, let's get away first!"
The enemy said, "Those sneaky bastards! They abandoned the van, so they must still be hiding nearby. Split up and find them."
The enemies scattered to search separately.
The enemies blundered around like headless chickens and silently lost their lives, without even a chance to utter their last words.
Twilight held Richie with one arm and covered his eyes with his other hand, keeping him from seeing such violent, bloody scenes.
Richie quietly pried Twilight's fingers apart to peek at what was happening.
"Miss Yor, this way." At a corner in the alley, Twilight put Richie down and tore a water pipe loose with his bare hands.
Then he picked Richie up with one arm and began running again.
Richie was practically soaring with excitement. The iconic scene was about to happen.
Yor still had some questions. "Sir, you seemed to hit those patients just now. Is that really all right?"
Twilight launched into another round of bluffing. "Well, you see, this is the latest treatment developed by the medical community in recent years-beating therapy."
Understanding dawned on Yor. "Oh, so that's it!"
Twilight remained expressionless. I really can't figure out whether she's clever or stupid.
Before they could leave the alley, an enemy suddenly appeared ahead. Twilight hurled the iron water pipe like a boomerang, knocking him straight down.
"Look out, Miss Yor!" Twilight looked up and shouted urgently.
There was another enemy above the alley. Dressed entirely in black and wielding a gleaming dagger, he plunged straight down toward Twilight.
Twilight was horrified. I can't dodge it.
Richie's hair nearly stood on end in fright. He'd only wanted to see an iconic scene, not lose his life here.
At the critical moment, Yor spun around behind Twilight and delivered a kick, sending the attacker flying. She knocked him unconscious in one blow, leaving him unable to fight.
Yor covered her face. "I'm sorry. I'm just a layperson, but I went ahead and treated your patient without permission.
"I'm actually quite good at self-defense. My brother taught me, so..."
Twilight laughed. "Hahaha, thank you! Miss Yor, you're incredible. You sent him flying with that kick."
Yor's face grew redder and redder. "I'm sorry. I accidentally kicked him into the air."
Twilight was blushing too. Tucked under Twilight's arm, Richie wore a fond, knowing grin.
"Found them! They're over here!"
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!
A burst of gunfire rang out, and Twilight grabbed Yor, hurriedly pulling her out of the way.
"Kill them, whatever it takes!" the enemy roared hysterically.
Richie was excited, but a little apprehensive too. "Father, the mentally ill patients have guns."
Twilight didn't answer Richie. He simply kept him tucked under his arm and ran alongside Yor.
Yor ran swiftly in her high heels. "Um, Mr. Loid, I know this isn't the right time to say this, but should we get married?"
Twilight froze as though he'd been hit by Conan's tranquilizer dart, then fell flat on the ground. Richie suffered too, flung far away by Twilight and landing face-first.
Despite being thrown to the ground, Richie wasn't angry at all. Instead, he was delighted. It's coming! It's coming!
