Song Qian grew up in a prosperous hereditary Black Robe Guard household with both parents alive and an elder brother who doted on her. Her family did not impose the restrictive customs of grand aristocratic households or oppose her ambition to become a heroine. Seeing Lin Daiyu’s circumstances later makes her recognize how fortunate her own upbringing has been 1 46.

Song Xuan guided her cultivation for years so that she could protect herself. She followed him closely from childhood, adopting many of his expressions and attitudes, including his desire to roam the martial world freely. Her behavior changes sharply depending on whether Song Xuan is present. Beside him, she usually acts as the obedient younger sister and lets him speak. Among the Inspection Office’s third-class guards, she is the feared “Sister Qian”; hardly any have escaped a beating from her.
