Lin Dongxue is the daughter of Lin Xiao, Cloud City’s city lord. She initially despises Tang Yan because of his reputation as a wastrel and an incident in which he attempted to molest her. When confronted, he presents a declaration of longstanding love and composes Joy at Reunion. She agrees not to pursue the matter further, warns him against repeating his behavior, and has the poem taken away as evidence 4 5.

Wu Xuan later suggests Tang Yan as her sparring partner. Despite raising her strength to Yellow Tier First Grade, Lin Dongxue loses when his sword reaches her throat. After Wu Xuan accidentally injures him while intervening, Lin Dongxue pays him twenty thousand taels and arranges transportation home 19 20 21.

She insists on accompanying Tang Yan to Cangyun Mountain. A lost footrace leads to an embarrassed kiss, while his criticism of her fight against a Red-Striped Tiger changes her attitude toward combat. Under his instruction, she begins linking basic movements and martial techniques rather than relying on rigid sequences 76 78 79.

When Liu Jing attacks them, Tang Yan refuses to abandon her. Moved by his willingness to risk his life, she breaks through to Profound Tier Second Grade and fights beside him. By the expedition’s end, she regrets having judged him by rumor, and her improved combat skills astonish her father 80 81 83 84.

Eastern Region Tournament and Azure Dragon Academy

Disguised to conceal her identity and Cloud City’s strength, Lin Dongxue earns a fifth-floor, four-point result in the Slaughter Tower 94.

At the Eastern Region Tournament, she defeats Zhao Yuqian and later overcomes Sun Long despite his higher cultivation. Following Tang Yan’s advice, she uses speed and close-range pressure to deny Sun Long an effective counterattack, then strikes his dantian and temporarily seals his true qi 107 111 112.

Mo Bin selects her for Azure Dragon Academy alongside Tang Yan, Fang Xuan, Wan Fei, and Du Shu. Before leaving Fang City, she gives Tang Yan another kiss and asks him to keep it secret 120.

During the academy selection, Tang Yan suffers serious injuries saving her from a Giant-Tusked Elephant. She feeds him pills with her true qi before returning to help their companions. Later, she trains intensely to fulfill her promise that he will see a stronger Lin Dongxue; despite having the group’s lowest cultivation, she gathers the most Beast Cores 130 132 138 146.

As a member of Reach the Summit, she also presents pills at its auction and takes fourteenth place on Azure Dragon Academy’s Earth Ranking. She, Wan Fei, and Yu Juechen challenge the ranking to defend Tang Yan’s reputation 185 202.

Chu Family Ambush and Recovery

Leng Ning first humiliates Lin Dongxue by slapping her while holding Reach the Summit’s members captive. Later, she exploits that grievance to lure Lin Dongxue outside Azure Dragon Academy, where the Chu Family of Ming City surrounds her. Their plan is to capture her and use her to draw out Tang Yan 157 255.

At Earth Tier Second Grade, Lin Dongxue holds off four third-grade opponents before sacrificing her defenses to inflict casualties. She kills four attackers and severely wounds another, but suffers 176 wounds herself. Near death, she writes a final message in blood: “In my next life, I’ll be Madam Tang again” 256 285.

She remains unconscious for months, sustained by medicine. Tang Yan ultimately awakens her with a Divine Soul Pill and tells her that the Chu Family has been destroyed. During a recovery spar, Lei Protector and Elder Fan recognize Dao’s True Qi in her attacks 306.

Both elders attempt to recruit her, but she repeatedly says she wants to remain with Reach the Summit. Tang Yan encourages her to consider opportunities that will further her cultivation. She later trains at the Artifact Pavilion under Shen Shan’s guidance 307 513.

Comprehending the Sentimental Dao

In the Heavenly Selection Secret Realm, Lin Dongxue undergoes a heart test involving pressure to abandon Tang Yan and marry Xiang Yun. She refuses. A further illusion forces her to confront the Chu Third Elder and seemingly sacrifice herself to free Tang Yan from a tentacle 513 514.

The apparent mortal injury occurs within the illusion. Upon awakening above the Blood River, she uses her newly comprehended Sword Rises into the Azure Clouds to sever a real tentacle. The Otherworld Flower clarifies the Dao she has discovered, helping her wield its power and unite herself with her sword 514 515.

Her later sparring with Tang Yan produces another breakthrough: after injuring herself by stopping an all-out attack, she realizes that she can redirect its momentum. She creates My Sword Has Regrets, advances to Xiantian Ninth Grade, and subsequently reaches King Rank through dual cultivation 616 617.

Sword Alliance Apprenticeship

While searching for Tang Yan, Lin Dongxue defeats Qin Wei and challenges Jun Ting. Her swordsmanship forces Jun Ting beyond their agreed strength limit; he ultimately releases Saint Level power, and Wang Instructor intervenes to catch her. The clash also strips away the makeup concealing her beauty 772.

Lu Ruiqing offers to take her as his final disciple. She initially declines because she wants to find Tang Yan. After their reunion, Tang Yan negotiates an arrangement allowing her to study at the Sword Alliance without restricting her freedom to return to the Pill Alliance 772 773 774.

Lin Dongxue formally joins Clearwind Pavilion under Lu Ruiqing. He gives her protective armor and Cloud Moon, a sword formerly wielded by another practitioner of the Sentimental Dao. Tang Yan later gives her the Red Dust Sword and the Emotion Sword Venerable’s inheritance 776 801.

Shattered Dao and the War Against the Other Races

During the period when Tang Yan is believed dead, Lin Dongxue’s Sentimental Dao shatters and her black hair turns white. Lu Ruiqing and Lu Lingjun try to comfort her. Fang Xuan’s determination to preserve Tang Yan’s wishes through Reach the Summit inspires her next breakthrough into Heaven and Earth. She then sets out toward the Dao Sect to hunt Evil Bone Silver Demon. A confrontation with a skeletal swordsman exposes shortcomings in her own swordsmanship; she eventually recognizes him as Tang Yan and embraces him 849 850 853.

His confirmation of his identity precedes her advancement to Heavenly Venerable. During the later battle against the Other Races, she persuades the five auspicious races to help raise the forbidden zone and begins sealing it with a pearl while Tang Yan remains trapped inside 854 868.
