Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Additional Great Emperor — Yin Ya 1 Third Elder Yin Ya emerges from seclusion after advancing to Great Emperor. The ancestors offer him promotion to ancestor, but he declines to continue personally training and protecting Chu Luo 3.

Background / History

A hundred thousand years before the current events, the Forbidden Sect earned distinction in the battle at the Sea of Darkness. Ancestors Xiaochen and Dao Yuan fought extensively and earned military merits for the Three Thousand Great Worlds. Their contribution is associated with the sect’s historical position as the foremost of the top factions 35 39.

The sect’s Forbidden Secret Arts underpin its enduring legacy, but their lifespan costs also threaten its oldest defenders. After Zang Yu’s intervention against the invading Great Emperors, rival ancestors conclude that the sect’s aging protectors are approaching the end of their lives and begin targeting its younger generation 41 43.

The sect has eight renowned elders. Following Yin Ya’s breakthrough, the other seven are identified as peak Ancient Sages 43.

Ancestors

Ancestor Documented Strength / Role
Xiaochen Great Emperor and veteran of the Sea of Darkness battle. Removes Chu Luo from the forbidden grounds, then later emerges to defend him and the sect 39.
Dao Yuan Great Emperor and veteran of the Sea of Darkness battle. Joins Xiaochen in confronting the invading emperors in the Outer Void 39.
Zang Yu Sixth-realm Great Emperor nearing the end of his lifespan. Intervenes from the forbidden grounds and attacks the retreating enemies with One Sword Crosses the Star River 40 41.

Xiaochen and Dao Yuan belong to the sect’s most recent generation of ancestors; observers are uncertain how many earlier-generation ancestors remain alive 39.

Disciple Ranks

  • Core disciples — Most are in the Divine Soul Realm. Some are several hundred years old and therefore do not appear on the Heavenly Prodigy Ranking despite their cultivation 17.
  • Direct disciples — Include Chu Luo and Bai Yun. Han Wujie states that the other direct disciples he knows possess higher cultivation than Chu Luo initially does and hold places on the Heavenly Prodigy Ranking 1 5.
  • Sequence Disciples — Selected through the sect’s grandest contest; candidates for future sect master and senior elder positions 9.
  • Number Zero Sequence Disciple — The position Yin Ya urges Chu Luo to pursue, with the goal of becoming junior sect master 1.

Notable Disciples

  • Chu Luo — Yin Ya’s only direct disciple. Masters all one thousand Forbidden Secret Arts left to him by his master and enters the Heavenly Prodigy Ranking at rank 150 after defeating Han Wujie 1 2 8.
  • Bai Yun — Good-natured direct disciple and Yun Qianqian’s beloved. Previously defeats Han Wujie and protects fellow disciples during a clash with Crimson Flame Valley 3 19.
  • Tang He — Invites Chu Luo to accompany him and several junior brothers to the Magic Beast Mountain Range 43.
  • Li Kui and Wang Sheng — Disciples who join the battle to protect Cloudmist Sacred Land members in the secret realm 19.
  • Wang Hao — Core disciple defeated by Han Wujie during the latter’s challenge at the sect 4.

Rules and Sect Culture

  • Restricted forbidden grounds: Trespassing carries expulsion for disciples and severe punishment even for elders. The ancestors pardon Chu Luo’s accidental entry on one occasion 1 3.
  • Internal disputes do not override solidarity: Disciples who initially want Chu Luo expelled later warn him against risking his life against Han Wujie. Zhao Sheng likewise urges him to withdraw despite their earlier conflict 1 5.
  • Protection against senior aggressors: The ancestors distinguish defeat by a peer from retaliation by an opponent’s elders. They promise to intervene when older cultivators bully disciples after losing a younger-generation contest 39.
  • Willingness to risk war: Lin Feng, the elders, and the disciples refuse to surrender Chu Luo even when rival Great Emperors threaten the sect 38.

Cultivation Arts and Combat Strength

Forbidden Secret Arts

The sect possesses three thousand Forbidden Secret Arts, although outsiders commonly refer to only one thousand. The full collection is inscribed on a stone stele in the forbidden grounds 33 39 41.

  • Exceptional difficulty: Ranked direct disciples struggle to master even one art; Zhao Sheng has learned only three 6 13.
  • Lifespan consumption: Every use costs lifespan. Both power and cost increase with the user’s cultivation 2 8.
  • Chu Luo’s mastery: He learns the thousand arts secretly left by Yin Ya in two and a half years. No other sect member has mastered that entire collection 2.
  • Historical deterrence: An ancestor’s use of the Eternal Void-Splitting Sword ten thousand years earlier stunned the supreme powers of the Three Thousand Great Worlds 13.
Art Documented Application
Great Void Maitreya Palm Produces an immense, star-studded palm; Chu Luo destroys the sect arena and injures Han Wujie with it 6.
