"Year one of the Goblin Empire!"
"Amigel was crowned the first emperor of the Goblin Empire. He appointed the chieftain of the trolls' strongest clan as Warden of the Northern Border, the Winged People as Wardens of the Eastern Border and the Skies, the dwarves as Wardens of the Mountain Range, and the merfolk as Wardens of the Western Sea!"
"Every warden from another race held a rank equivalent to a duke of the Goblin Empire!"
"Meanwhile, every race on the continent that participated in the campaign against the titans received rewards and noble titles to varying degrees."
"Afterward, Amigel invested two goblin grand dukes-the eldest sons of the High Priest and the Great Sage-and sent them to establish goblin principalities in the Western Border and the Southern Border, expanding goblin territory and increasing their population."
"He ordered the former chiefs of the goblin tribes to return to their homelands, gather their people, and build cities!"
"The goblin population currently numbered ten million. Apart from the million goblins in the capital, the remaining nine million were scattered across the continent. Amigel was ambitious. He wanted goblin tribes everywhere to take root and flourish, building cities until every corner of the continent had a goblin city!"
"Only then, surrounded by countless cities, would Proadas City become a true imperial capital!"
"Finally, he granted fiefs to three hundred young goblin nobles who had distinguished themselves in battle, sending them beyond the Goblin Empire's population heartland and into the wilderness untouched by the continent's other races to establish their own domains and expand its territory."
"These were the deeds of Amigel and his goblin officials over the past year!"
A year later.
At the foot of Mount Proadas.
It was late at night, and stars dotted the sky.
The Silver Moon hung high!
A beautiful girl with long golden hair closed her notebook. Sitting demurely on a tree branch, she swung her long, pale legs and spoke in a lilting voice.
"Fiona... Your Imperial Highness, I already know all of that. But why did you ask me to meet you so late at night?"
Across from her stood a handsome young man of the Winged People.
"No, Jiang You, there's still one thing you don't know. Amigel has already begun assigning people to train Griffin Knights. Once goblin Griffin Knights fill the skies, the Winged People's unique position will cease to exist. Someone as clever as you should understand the consequences!"
Sure enough, Jiang You frowned at her words.
"Indeed. If the goblins field Griffin Knights in large numbers, the Winged People will be in a dangerous position."
The trolls were powerful, but far too scattered.
The dwarves possessed titan blood, but the human weapons in goblin hands countered them.
The merfolk lived in the sea and struggled to adapt to life on land.
The fairies' nature made them even less disciplined than the trolls.
Although centaurs were natural cavalry, they posed less of a threat than the Winged People!
The continent's other races all had their own shortcomings.
Only the Winged People were different!
In this era without powerful aerial forces, the Winged People had effectively claimed a share of the goblins' kingship over the skies!
That was something the ambitious and visionary Amigel could not accept.
Watching Jiang You ponder, Fiona smiled faintly.
"We can help you with this!"
"You have a way?"
Jiang You sounded surprised.
"Of course. But before that, you need to agree to one request!"
"What request?"
"Don't worry, it's nothing unreasonable. I just want a child with your bloodline!"
"What?!"
Jiang You was dumbstruck!
This was beyond ridiculous!
What kind of bizarre request was that? In his previous life, he'd only ever seen this in melodramatic novels!
Yet Fiona was utterly serious!
"A few years ago, an old prophet of a very high Sequence awakened among my people. When I was forced to marry Amigel, he sacrificed his life to foresee the future most favorable to the human race. That future required bringing your bloodline into the human race!"
In truth, the prophecy also said that among her and Jiang You's descendants would arise the first human king of the new era, freeing them from goblin control!
But Fiona concealed that part.
"Although I don't understand why, that's what the prophecy said, and I believe that elder's prophecy!"
"Jiang You, please give me a child!"
Jiang You didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"Leaving aside whether I'm willing, you're Amigel's imperial consort. If he finds out, we'll both be in serious trouble."
"He won't find out. I guarantee it! Please trust in my people's hidden resources!"
Hearing this, Jiang You looked into her resolute eyes and sighed.
"All right, I agree. But before that, tell me what you plan to do to prevent the Winged People from being replaced by goblin Griffin Knights!"
Once Jiang You agreed, Fiona breathed a sigh of relief and explained.
"We'll volunteer to raise the griffins for Amigel!"
What kind of Qin-style declaration was that? For some reason, Jiang You thought of a historical tale from his previous life.
"All right, it's a beautiful night. Let's not waste any time. Let's get started."
"Uh... all right."
