The reconciliation between the sisters Vivian and Lilith before their final farewell had been one of the most tear-jerking moments in the original story.
It was precisely that scene that had first made Greg resolve to save Vivian and ease the conflict between the sisters.
He remembered clearly how, in the original story, they had loved each other deeply, yet misunderstandings, pride, and the Demon King Cult's exploitation of their vulnerability had driven them apart, step by step, until nothing could be undone.
He did not want that ending to repeat itself in this world.
So now, when he saw Lilith, stubbornly tsundere to her very core, actually work up the resolve to invite Vivian to afternoon tea with a blush on her face, Greg immediately felt a surge of relief and satisfaction.
This was the result he had worked to bring about, proof that he had changed the story.
He ought to have been happy about it.
But-

Greg could not help inwardly ranting.
Standing off to the side, he clearly caught Lilith's amber eyes darting toward him every few seconds as she spoke, then quickly looking away.
Those glances made him inexplicably uneasy.
But another possibility soon occurred to him-perhaps she was signaling for him and Victoria to hurry up and leave because they were getting in the way.
After all, the sisters rarely had a chance to be alone together. Having two outsiders present really was inappropriate.
At that thought, Greg immediately acted, nudging Victoria beside him to signal that they should leave together.
Victoria, however, was reluctant. Her gray eyes gleamed with a hunger for gossip as she whispered:
"This is juicy stuff! Don't you want in on it?
