When Victoria stepped out of the Final Defense conference room, the corridor was empty, with only her own footsteps echoing through it.
She deliberately slowed her pace, her gaze drifting seemingly casually over the benches and corners on either side of the corridor, but she saw no sign of that familiar figure.
"...That idiot senior really did completely forget our promise to explore the festival together."
Her voice was so quiet that only she could hear it, but the teeth-gritting anger in her tone had not diminished in the slightest.
As she walked, she silently cursed Greg and eighteen generations of his ancestors.
She had expected this, of course. Given Greg's personality, forgetting their arrangement had been almost inevitable.
But when it actually happened, a nameless anger still flared up from the bottom of her heart.
"The next time I see him, I'm going to tear him to pieces with my magic!"
Victoria took a deep breath, trying to make her expression look a little calmer.
She did not want anyone to notice that she was upset about being stood up, especially when she met up with her roommates Kaira and Adele later.
So she needed to come up with a reasonable excuse to explain why Greg was not with her.
After all, she could hardly just say, "That bastard stood me up," could she?
That would be far too embarrassing. It would make it look as though she actually cared.
She even considered simply bringing Sylvia along, so at least she would not look as though she had been left on her own.
But then she remembered that Sylvia had said she was seeing someone off today and would not be free until evening.
So that option was out, too.
"Whatever. Going alone isn't such a big deal."
