The group analyzed Hao Jingye’s motives and discovered he had another unknown ability that had stopped Jiang Yu from entering her space. With dawn approaching, Song Linwei asked Sheng An to decide whether they should collect the meteorite fragments.
Sheng An told the group to collect the Fragments without assembling them, then faced the Mutant Fish Mint, which demanded that she fulfill her promise to restore its lost leaves. She explained that its original leaves could not be recovered, but gave it five leaves with Time Reversal; the fish mint immediately demanded even more.
Sheng An reconsidered how each battle against the Otherkind had brought the group closer to victory and the truth, while suspecting Old Qin had acted strangely. After a chaotic morning in which the Mutant Fish Mint plucked Jiang Ling bald, the group learned that Long Tianyu had woken up and hurried to the hospital.
Long Tianyu woke in the hospital and told Sheng An’s team that Qiu Yu had attacked him, but they explained that Qiu Yu had died protecting Sheng An and that Hao Jingye was the real M. After learning how much had happened while he was unconscious, Long Tianyu discovered he had been out for only one day.
Sheng An’s group strengthened defenses while waiting for Hao Jingye, and the bases enjoyed a month of improving conditions before the cold wave arrived earlier than expected. The chapter ends with Sheng An ordering everyone to move as the temperature suddenly plunged.
Winter arrived thirty-one days early, and Sheng An and Qi Lingwu witnessed a supernatural cold wave rapidly freezing the base. With systems failing and people suffering frostbite, Sheng An ordered ordinary people to shelter and Superpower Persons to take over the emergency response, warning that the cold might only be beginning.
As the cold wave intensified, Long Tianyu and Li Wanyun helped people at an exchange point with winter supplies and braziers, while Sheng An’s group worked to keep the base warm and restore power. The temperature kept falling, the soil froze, and more than two hundred people had died as the group faced a cold wave worse than expected.
The cold wave struck a month earlier than expected, and the base struggled through its first night of extreme cold while M’s role remained unclear. After power was restored, the group discovered that Mutant Fish Mint had entered Jiang Yu’s space on its own.
The Fish Mint entered Jiang Yu's space on its own and proved it could bring others inside, leading Sheng An to suspect Jiang Yu was only the space’s key and that Hao Jingye might be able to access it too. The group then learned Capital City Base was colder than every other reported base, likely because of the Fragments, and Sheng An suspected Hao Jingye wanted them sent away.
Sheng An and the Capital City Base rushed to build a temperature-insulating layer as bitter winter worsened, and the Underground Shelter finally opened as a warm refuge. After inspecting the Shelter, Sheng An returned to the villa for hot pot and noticed Long Tianyu and Jiang Yu were missing.
Jiang Yu, Sheng An, and Qi Lingwu discovered that Little Fish Mint could enter Jiang Yu’s space from far away, revealing that the space was independent and Jiang Yu’s vanished jade bracelet was merely its key. They considered whether Hao Jingye could exploit the discovery, but the chapter left the space’s connection to the fragments and Doomsday unresolved.
Sheng An and the others debated the unexplained nature of Jiang Yu’s space and tightened precautions around it. Their meal was interrupted when they discovered that food would not cook properly, revealing that oxygen deprivation had accompanied the early cold wave.
Sheng An and the Research Institute confirmed that oxygen would run out in four months, and they realized the crisis had been delayed in the previous life for reasons they did not understand. Rejecting a drawn-out response that would cost more lives, Sheng An decided to take a different path, though she had not yet explained her plan.
Sheng An chose to take the meteorite fragments to Stone City and confront Hao Jingye, abandoning the plan to counter his moves from afar. As oxygen deprivation and other disasters worsened across the bases, she prepared to leave the next day and wait for him there.
Sheng An decided to take her strongest allies to confront Hao Jingye, despite the danger, and Qin Xuan could not foresee what awaited them. She left the group resolved to seek a breakthrough against the invading Otherkind rather than accept mere survival for a few more years.
Sheng An and her allies traveled to Stone City with the meteorite fragments, gambling that they could use their theory about the space to kill Hao Jingye. They found him waiting at the Meteorite Research Institute, surrounded by masked followers.
Sheng An confronted Hao Jingye and traded the meteorite fragments for three pieces of information. After taking the fragments, Hao Jingye revealed that he already possessed two-thirds of them, leaving the group to wonder what would happen if he gathered them all.
Hao Jingye used blood and his superpower to make the Fragments assemble into the Egg, forcing Sheng An and the Special Affairs Office to attack before it could be completed. The battle left Hao Jingye locked in combat with Sheng An, Qi Lingwu, and Mountain Blossom while Long Tianyu killed the puppet copying his ability.
The Special Affairs Office defeated Hao Jingye’s Puppet Otherkind and used the Fragments’ energy to suppress Hao Jingye, with Sheng An stopping the Fragments from assembling. Hao Jingye revealed that he could empower Puppets across the world, then reflected the team’s attacks onto them and left many members gravely wounded.
Hao Jingye trapped the Special Affairs Office in illusions and claimed victory, but Sheng An and her allies broke free and killed him. At the bases, humans counterattacked the arriving Puppet Otherkind and exposed hidden Otherkind, as the wider war began.
Hao Jingye used the wounded Superpower Persons’ blood to summon and assemble the Fragments, reviving himself and declaring victory. Sheng An revealed she had kept the largest Fragment, leaving a gap in the completed object and challenging his claim that he had won.
Sheng An kept the final meteorite fragment hidden and led the Special Affairs Office in resisting Hao Jingye, who then drew power from the living egg and reached 10-Star. As Sheng An realized the egg was the Otherkind Lord, she questioned whether Hao Jingye was truly Otherkind.
Sheng An gambled that the human side of Hao Jingye could resist M, but he seemed to attack her with full force until Jiang Yu's Little Fish Mint pierced his heart. As Hao Jingye died, Sheng An realized he had suppressed his own defenses to help them kill M.
After Hao Jingye died and dissolved into blood, Sheng An reassured Jiang Yu that Assistant Hao had truly been their human teammate, then warned the group that the Fragments remained the real threat. The group faced the Fragments without knowing how to defeat them, while Sheng An began searching for the secret Hao Jingye had tried to leave behind.
After the Fragments’ reassembly caused a sudden temperature and oxygen drop, Sheng An’s group secured the Egg of Fragments at the Meteorite Research Institute and sent a report to Capital City Base. Qi Lingwu took the dangerous Fragment from Sheng An and used his newly reached 8-Star mental power to suppress it, giving her a chance to rest.
