- Southwestern frontier: Sikong Jian, the Southwest King, operates along this border and repeatedly raids neighboring peoples to the south 263 455.
- Territorial policy: White Garment rejects abandoning even uninhabited No-Man's Zones and advocates reclaiming them from foreign adventurers 767.
| Location | Significance |
|---|---|
| The Capital | Seat of national power and home to influential families. Described as the world's most prosperous city and one of only three remaining cities with populations above five million 177. |
| Chun Prefecture | Little White Tiger and Old Ninth's power base. Ranked third among the Dragon Kingdom's ten rising powers, although the ranking divides it into two factions 263. |
| Demon City | Home of the Ji Family; Overlord's breakthrough there attracts local experts and becomes nationwide news 205. |

Dragon Veins
- The country possesses three Dragon Veins: northern, central, and southern 778.
- The northern vein begins in Kunlun, crosses several prefectures, and reaches the Korean border 778.
- The Heavenly Venerable warns that the destruction of all three would shatter the land 778.
- The Nine Chrysanthemum Sect's Three Dragons Borrowing Qi formation is intended to exploit these veins, steal national fortune, create Nine Awakenings experts, and prevent White Garment's breakthrough 770.
- The severing of the dragon veins becomes the stated cause for nationwide military mobilization against the Alliance 805.
Government and Politics
The Dragon Kingdom's four principal factions collectively control its military, government, finances, and judiciary. Their leaders maintain checks on one another rather than allowing a single faction to dominate. Old Man Guan describes their disputes as policy disagreements between people who all seek the country's welfare 217 271.
| Figure or Institution | Documented Role |
|---|---|
| Old Man Guan / Marshal Guan | Commander of the First War Zone, celebrated national hero, and leading military authority. Commands hundreds of thousands of troops 177. |
| Yang Huaimin | Security Department minister; participates in national policy and wartime decisions 574 805. |
| Minister Bai | One of the four national leaders. Commits the Bai Family's children to the First War Zone during mobilization 805. |
| Minister Ding | One of the four national leaders. Pledges weapons, money, and provisions for the war effort 805. |
| Security Department | Handles national security and special operations; Yang Pan's former Shadow Group personnel are assigned to its Special Operations Department, Group Three 866. |
Internal competition continues despite public unity against foreign enemies. After the Kou Island campaign, several factions unite against the Guan Family and challenge Commander Sun's unauthorized deployment. Sun formally resigns his positions but retains effective control over troop movements in Nanjing City 495 497.
Opposition to further overseas war also persists after the Alliance's defeat. The Chang and Tian families resist an expedition against the Federation, with the Chang Family concerned about both its wartime expenditure and Chun Prefecture's growing influence 896.
Military and National Defenders
Six War Zones
| Formation | Command and Capabilities |
|---|---|
| First War Zone | Commanded by Old Man Guan. Its forces have subdued opponents throughout the Asia Region; even the Fourth War Zone must follow his orders 90 177. |
| Fourth War Zone | Associated with White Garment and veteran commanders Sun and Teng. Deploys warships and fighters against the Federation and conducts the Kou Island flag-raising operation 296 318 482. |
| Fifth War Zone | Leads the offensive toward India's three fortified border cities. Its planned initial attack involves thirty thousand troops 826. |
| Six War Zones collectively | Form a united front during the Sunshine Beach crisis and receive the nationwide mobilization order after the dragon-vein attacks 442 805. |
Elite Forces and Powerhouses
- Black Dragon Banner: A thousand-strong First War Zone formation, also called the Iron Broom. Its soldiers wear black ancient-style armor and demon masks, carry Wasteland Artifact Tang Dao, and combine traditional equipment with modern firearms. Its recorded exploits include pursuing an army of 150,000 for half a month; it is also notorious for leaving no survivors, including civilians 554.
- Golden Generation: Thirty-two heroes credited with beginning the Dragon Kingdom's rise to regional dominance. Leading members include Old Man Guan, the old lady of the Shanhe Four Prefectures, the Pao Ge Society's Old Chief Boss Gu, and the Purple Gold family's Old Wang 544.
- White Garment: A central deterrent against foreign powers. He ultimately abandons Immortal Ascension to merge with the Ancient God's body and attack the Western Divine Court 516 862.
- Younger generation: Includes strategists Yang Pan, Ding Baobao, and Tian Bo; commanders Guan Lei and Zhou Zheng; fighters Little White Tiger, Old Ninth, and Sikong Jian; and versatile talents Wang Shengnan, Ji Min, Thirteen, and Qin Feng 762.
Mobilization and Limitations
- National defense extends beyond the regular army: families, gangs, businesses, transport companies, and ordinary citizens provide fighters and supplies 856 875 876.
- During the final Alliance campaign, the first volunteer wave approaches one million, with several million more awaiting transport. Alliance intelligence estimates total mobilization at at least ten million troops 876.
- The Federation retains an equipment advantage in some engagements. Qiao nevertheless judges Dragon Kingdom troops substantially stronger in fighting spirit and willingness to hold positions under bombardment 838.
- Large-scale coordinated warfare is a national strength, but the Angel Legion temporarily neutralizes it by splitting the First War Zone's formation into isolated sections 874.
History
Great Calamity and the Godforsaken Land
The Great Calamity occurs more than two hundred years before the final victory ceremony. The Transformed devastate the country, leaving its population near collapse. Marshal Guan later credits collective resistance, farming amid prolonged snowfall, and generations of sacrifice with restoring the nation 919.
The Godforsaken Land originates in Xu Family Village. To contain the Ancestors born there, the Dragon Kingdom commits more than half its powerhouses, with its seven strongest Eight Awakenings experts leading the effort. Allied Awakened from the Alliance and Federation betray them, slaughter the survivors, and use the Holy See's secret technique to seal the area. The betrayers claim the victory while portraying the Dragon Kingdom's defenders as cowards 461.
During the journey into this past, Little White Tiger's group tells Xuanyuan what will happen. After learning that the country eventually recovers and becomes powerful, he accepts his fate and leads the surviving Awakened against the Ancestors 514.
Recovery and Regional Ascendancy
The Golden Generation leads the country's transition from weakness to dominance in the Asia Region. Its recovery takes place despite Western technological restrictions, economic pressure, and isolation 544 918.
By the main story's later conflicts, the Capital displays little outward sign of the apocalypse, infrastructure is expanding even in recently built border towns, and Dragon Kingdom influence is increasing among surrounding populations and overseas commercial communities 177 239 758.
Fei Island and War with the Alliance
Dragon Kingdom workers and investments become central to the Fei Island conflict. After killings at the mines, the island's Council nationalizes its four major Nuclear Energy Mines and confiscates Dragon Kingdom investments. The Dragon Kingdom rejects the resolution 269 275.
White Garment later confronts Federation leaders over reconstruction funding and blocks their attempt to arrest Little White Tiger, backed by the Fourth War Zone's fleet and aircraft. Further escalation follows Inverted Cross's seizure of Fei Island's airport, prompting Dragon Kingdom air attacks and the arrival of warships, helicopters, and local allied forces 318 418.
At Sunshine Beach, national leaders refuse the Alliance's demand to withdraw and insist that Little White Tiger's people fall under Dragon Kingdom law. The Alliance authorizes an attack, beginning open warfare 445.
Kou Island Flag-Raising
Commander Sun deploys the Fourth War Zone without reporting the operation and organizes a nationally broadcast flag-raising over Kou Island's imperial palace. Prominent families and factions arrive from across the Dragon Kingdom, while aircraft release Dragon Flags over the capital 482.
The ceremony includes the execution of kneeling Kou Islanders as a consecration of the flag. It is celebrated domestically as vengeance for past invasions and massacres, particularly in Nanjing City 483.
Coalition Invasion and Counteroffensive
Reports that White Garment has been lost in the Godforsaken Land and that Old Man Guan is seriously ill coincide with Kou Island, India, the Koreans, and other neighboring forces forming a coalition backed by the Alliance and Federation 516.
The Dragon Kingdom counters on land and at sea. Little White Tiger's fighters march against Saint George, naval forces pressure Kou Island, and Old Man Guan emerges to lead the senior generation's counterattack against the Pope and Marquis 564 572.
The resulting negotiations impose extensive restrictions on defeated neighbors, including disarmament, limits on armed forces, and Dragon Kingdom supervision of population and supplies 598.
Final War and Surrenders
Following the dragon-vein attacks, Guotai Min'an orders all six War Zones to mobilize. The Fifth War Zone advances into India while Dragon Kingdom forces renew operations against Kou Island 805 822 826.
During the final fighting, the country's elders attack the angelic army to protect their successors. Against the Alliance, Guotai Min'an personally sounds the war drums as the First War Zone falters. Civilian reinforcements subsequently defend the command flag and help restore the army's momentum 862 872 875 876.
Smith surrenders the Alliance to Marshal Guan. India also submits and is ordered to deliver its surrender document within a month and relocate its capital to New New Delhi 877.
The Federation subsequently attempts to restrict Dragon Kingdom forces to the Asia Region through negotiations, but those terms are rejected. At the later Victory Square ceremony, both Federation and Alliance representatives formally present instruments of surrender, while other nations offer allegiance or friendship 884 919.
Foreign Relations
| Power | Relationship |
|---|---|
| Alliance | Principal Western military opponent. Participates in the historical betrayal at the Godforsaken Land and later wars before surrendering 461 877 919. |
| Federation | Rival power involved in the historical betrayal, regional intervention, and later negotiations over global influence. Ultimately submits a surrender instrument 461 884 919. |
| Kou Island | Longstanding enemy whose rulers repeatedly seek Dragon Kingdom territory. Following successive defeats, its representative pledges lasting friendship 454 919. |
| Korean Peninsula | Repeated adversary subjected to military and settlement restrictions. Park Changseong later pledges eternal allegiance and declares its return to Dragon Kingdom rule 598 633 919. |
| India | Coalition participant and target of the Fifth War Zone's offensive. Surrenders after the Alliance's defeat 826 877. |
| Fei Island | Described by Little White Tiger as a former vassal state; becomes a major flashpoint over mines, citizens, and reconstruction 275 300 318. |
| Mianbang | Home to descendants of Dragon Kingdom refugees from the Great Calamity. Chun Prefecture's intervention establishes Mr. Li as the dominant Chamber of Commerce leader 239 261. |
- Postwar controls: Defeated neighboring peoples must surrender their weapons and may not maintain armies or armed forces exceeding three thousand. Population and supplies fall under Dragon Kingdom supervision 598.
- Settlement limits: Rules restrict each neighboring “alien race” to three settlements, explicitly to curb excessive population growth 633.
- Expansionist aims: White Garment advocates extending borders through conquest and declares his intention to eliminate hostile populations from the Asia Region. These are stated ambitions, not evidence that every proposed conquest is completed 767 775.
Society, Symbols, and Remembrance
- Unity against foreign enemies: Both citizens and foreign observers distinguish domestic factional conflict from the tendency to unite when outsiders attack 195 365 454.
- Overseas identity: Young Master Shu distinguishes hatred of Chun Prefecture from hatred of the country, describing national belonging as protection against becoming “rootless duckweed” 268.
- Civilian support: Border residents send departing troops off with food saved through personal hardship; businesses later organize transport and supplies for mass reinforcement 828 876.
- Ancestor remembrance: Households burn incense after victories, while public commemorations honor soldiers and other fallen defenders 574 877.
- Dragon Flag: Used in military formations, public celebrations, and ceremonies marking victory over Kou Island and the Western powers 482 564 919.
- Victory Stele: Its inscription, “Mission Fulfilled with Honor,” represents the surviving generations' tribute to those who died securing the country's future 918.
- Generational succession: At the final ceremony, Guotai Min'an bows to Little White Tiger and the younger defenders, who pledge to safeguard the Dragon Kingdom's future 919.
