Ch. 41Why she had been targeted

After Bajiao fled the assessment grounds, Ye Buyu told the principals that the Void Order had targeted her because of Yan You’s information. Little Whale revealed that it had killed Yan You and warned Ye Buyu to keep its existence secret, while the assessment continued under Lei Yue’s watch.

  • Ye Buyu reported that Bajiao had questioned her about Yan You, her ability, and the River of Forgetfulness incident before Kou Ying tricked her into fleeing.
  • Lei Yue wanted to stop the assessment, but Ding Ruixue and Zhao Zhe argued that the teachers could protect the students, so Lan Huaiyu kept Ye Buyu in the stands and sent Lei Yue to watch the arena.
  • Ye Buyu guessed that Yan You had targeted her because of Compulsory Cost, but Little Whale said it had killed Yan You and warned her that revealing its existence could draw the Calamities to the Present World.
  • Ye Buyu decided to keep Little Whale secret and watched the remaining students compete beside the teachers.
  • Shi Can offered Ye Buyu chocolate and said she might become her teacher if Ye Buyu secured a place in joint training.

Ch. 42Free-for-all

Ye Buyu decided to compete for a Joint Training slot after Shi Can encouraged her to challenge herself and stand up to Bajiao and the Void Cultists. Meanwhile, the free-for-all continued until Wan Lan cleared the arena by blasting Su Wuwei into the barrier.

  • Shi Can encouraged Ye Buyu to try for a Joint Training slot, and Ye Buyu resolved to compete after remembering Bajiao's contempt and her recent defeat.
  • A masked male teacher pointed out that Kou Ying's points had put Ye Buyu near the top and that Mu Bingge, her teammate, was still fighting.
  • Meng He and Ruan Yinke knocked each other unconscious when their psychic abilities collided.
  • Wan Lan challenged Su Wuwei, who dodged her attacks while urging her to target other contestants.

Ch. 44Teachers who loved tearing up umbrellas

After the Points Competition, Zhao Zhe announced the results and students struggled to find their names on the randomly ordered score board. Ye Buyu discovered she had earned 116,572 points, and Zhao Zhe revealed that the scores had already been sent to everyone’s communicators.

  • Mu Bingge pulled up Lou Guanshan and Wan Lan after defeating them, and the three acknowledged one another’s strength.

  • After the students searched for nearly half an hour, Zhao Zhe told them their scores had already been sent to their communicators.

Ch. 45A dark horse so black it gleamed

After the Gaokao ended, Ye Buyu dreamed of being dragged back to the River of Forgetfulness before waking to check her results. She discovered she had scored 96 and ranked fifth on the Joint Training list, prompting online speculation that she had advanced through luck and Mu Bingge’s help.

  • Zhao Zhe announced the end of the Points Competition, reminded students to check their results and the Joint Training program, and led them in their declaration: “Burn the Night, Wield the Light! Reforge the Dawn!”
  • Ye Buyu returned to Four Symbols Academy and spent three peaceful days before dreaming that she encountered the orange lamp, an explosion, and the River of Forgetfulness again.
  • Little Whale woke Ye Buyu, and she checked the Awakened Gaokao results on the University Alliance website, discovering her score was 96.
  • Ye Buyu read the Awakened Forum and saw people discussing her fifth-place position on the Joint Training list, questioning her Points Competition score and calling her lucky.
  • Ye Buyu closed the forum and concluded that she was in trouble.

Ch. 46Not a Good Day to Go Out

Ye Buyu struggled to find somewhere to train during her vacation, but Mu Bingge had family matters to handle and Principal Lan was away. Just as Ye Buyu wondered what to do, she spotted Qiu Zhi, who seemed eager to see her.

  • Ye Buyu panicked over her strong competition results and asked Mu Bingge to take her hunting Calamities in the Blue-Label Zone.
  • Mu Bingge refused because she had to return home to help with her family business, Tidewater Workshop, and suggested Ye Buyu ask Principal Lan.
  • Ye Buyu found Principal Lan's office empty and complained that it was not a good day to go out.
  • Little Whale urged Ye Buyu to stop making excuses and find another solution.
  • Ye Buyu spotted Qiu Zhi carrying materials, and he looked at her as if she were his savior.

Ch. 47Her first mission

Ye Buyu joined Qiu Zhi’s team as their support for a Level Three Zone mission in the Corrosion Swamp. After the team collected their first Corrupt Corpse Crocodile tear, the chapter left them continuing their search for materials.

  • Qiu Zhi invited Ye Buyu to join his team’s mission, and she agreed to serve as their support.
  • Ye Buyu reunited awkwardly with Captain Hao Liang, Liao Yong, and Wang Yajing, then learned that her Compulsory Cost had not increased with her advancement.
  • The team traveled by Space Elevator to the Corrosion Swamp to collect Corrupt Corpse Crocodile tears.
  • Ye Buyu discovered that she saw the swamp differently from the others, perceiving clear water and green algae rather than floating rotting flesh.
  • A Corrupt Corpse Crocodile climbed aboard their boat, and Captain Hao Liang killed it, leaving a crystal tear behind.

Ch. 48The Breath of Death

Ye Buyu helped Captain Hao Liang’s team collect crocodile tears, and her slaps produced larger crystals before the group spotted a huge creature beneath the mire. After Ye Buyu reached the bank, a rising fog froze her in place as enormous black eyes appeared and drew closer.

  • Ye Buyu slapped a living Corrupt Corpse Crocodile, making it shed a large tear before fleeing, and Liao Yong brought another crocodile for her to slap.

Ch. 49The Monster Deep in the Swamp

Ye Buyu fought off a psychic Calamity’s attack in a vision and warned everyone that a colossal creature was beneath the Corrosion Swamp. Though the site’s manager dismissed her warning, Mu Bingge ordered an evacuation as Ye Buyu and the others tried to get people out.

  • Ye Buyu poured her power into the Flower Edict, fired at the monster, and used the word “Begone” to bind it and disperse the mist.
  • Ye Buyu woke from the apparent nightmare as Wang Yajing and the others found her collapsed, and Little Whale revealed that a psychic Calamity had attacked her.
  • Little Whale warned Ye Buyu that the Calamity was too dangerous for the group, so she urged everyone to leave the swamp and reported that the creature was beneath it.
  • The site manager rejected Ye Buyu’s warning, while Captain Hao Liang and Liao Yong rushed to remove people from the swamp and Wang Yajing contacted the Social Security Bureau.
  • Ye Buyu reached Mu Bingge, who ordered operations stopped, arranged an evacuation, and decided to go to the Corrosion Swamp herself.

Ch. 50Forceful Measures

Ye Buyu and Wang Yajing tried to force the people gathered in the mire to retreat before a powerful threat arrived. As mist spread across the mire, Ye Buyu’s healing bullets seemed to free their victims from an influence that had made them attack her, and the chapter left the evacuation underway.

  • Ye Buyu realized the threat in the mire might be stronger than a Blessed One, drank Wang Yajing’s recovery potion, and began firing healing bullets at people who refused to leave.
  • Captain Hao Liang and Liao Yong used the confusion to ferry teams back to shore while Ye Buyu kept firing and Wang Yajing shielded her from the angry crowd.
  • The crowd drew weapons and shouted that they would kill Ye Buyu, though some seemed horrified and unable to control their actions.
  • Wang Yajing grabbed Ye Buyu and called for Captain Hao Liang and Liao Yong to retreat as mist spread out from the mire’s center.
  • After Ye Buyu ordered the people she had healed to evacuate, they suddenly stood up and dragged their teammates away from the mire.

Ch. 51Purification Halo, uh, Light Wheel?

Ye Buyu used a purifying Light Wheel to cut through the mist’s giant hand and help the crowd resist its influence, but the Calamity spread the swamp beneath the fleeing people. The person in charge and other evacuees sacrificed themselves to delay it as Ye Buyu and the survivors kept running.

  • The person in charge activated the Sealing Device, but the Calamity destroyed it and formed a giant hand from mist to attack the evacuating crowd.
  • Ye Buyu urged everyone to keep running and threw a purifying halo that became a Light Wheel, severing the mist hand and restoring some people’s senses.
  • The mist withdrew into the swamp, which spread beneath the fleeing crowd and slowed their escape.
  • The person in charge charged into the mist and detonated himself, briefly stopping the spreading swamp.
  • Other evacuees sacrificed themselves to push their teammates forward, while Ye Buyu and the survivors ran on through the mud.

Ch. 52Philosophical Fish

Ye Buyu and the others escaped the Corrosion Swamp after the Calamity's attack, and Little Whale blocked its attempt to control her mind. As Ye Buyu struggled with the lives they had lost, survivors and Wang Yajing reminded her to keep going, and Mu Bingge arrived with help from the Tidewater Workshop and the Social Security Bureau.

  • The Calamity opened its eyes and drove the swamp's erosion level higher as Ye Buyu and the others fled toward the rescue aircraft.
  • Wang Yajing caught a Grappling Cable, and Ye Buyu used her Light Wheel to cut through the fog hands pursuing them.

  • Wang Yajing and Qiu Zhi prepared for another attack until Mu Bingge arrived and said the rescuers had taken over.

Ch. 53You know far too much

Ye Buyu joined Mu Bingge and the Social Security Bureau’s response team, sharing what she knew about the Calamity in the Corrosion Swamp. As Si Weijian and Mu Yang attacked it, they learned it belonged to [Abyssal Erosion] and had come for the Tidewater Workshop’s crown of the Flood King.

  • Mu Bingge brought Ye Buyu to a fighter jet, where Ye Buyu told Si Weijian and Mu Yang that the Calamity was a powerful mental attacker that hid in mist and could control the swamp.
  • Ye Buyu revealed that the Calamity had attacked her directly, but she had escaped, shocking the response team.
  • Si Weijian and Mu Yang entered the mist and attacked the Calamity while the team monitored them from the jet.
  • The Calamity recognized the Social Security Bureau and the Tidewater Workshop, then accused Mu Yang of taking the crown of the Flood King.
  • Mu Yang identified the Calamity as part of [Abyssal Erosion], and Si Weijian prepared to fight it for entering Great Xia.

Ch. 54Thin Mist Priest

Si Weijian and Mu Yang fought the Thin Mist Priest, who revealed that his apparent ascension had been a ruse and that his true body was targeting the fighter jet. Ye Buyu and the others escaped as the jet struck the Priest’s location, but Ye Buyu then sensed a fresh killing intent behind her.

  • Si Weijian and Mu Yang attacked the Thin Mist Priest as he gathered water to pray to his god, but they failed to stop his ritual.
  • The Thin Mist Priest revealed that the figure they had fought was not his true body and used chimes to hinder Si Weijian and Mu Yang as he approached the fighter jet.

  • The unmanned fighter jet plunged toward the Thin Mist Priest and exploded as Ye Buyu and the others reached the safe zone.
  • Mu Bingge urged Ye Buyu to leave the Corrosion Swamp, and Ye Buyu felt killing intent behind her as she relaxed.

Ch. 55Two Mist Priests?

Ye Buyu faced a Mist Priest who trapped everyone around her in a daze and tried to turn her into a follower. With Little Whale's help, she lured him into her Mindscape and shattered him, though he re-formed weakened and terrified.

  • Ye Buyu shot a disguised Mist Priest and discovered that Mu Bingge, Li Yan, Qiu Zhi, and the others were trapped in his domain while she remained lucid.
  • The Mist Priest explained that people who left the Corrosion Swamp either died or became his followers, and revealed his plan to use everyone as sacrifices.
  • Little Whale told Ye Buyu to pretend to join the Mist Priest so he would enter her Mindscape, but he rejected her and mocked her in front of the dazed crowd.
  • Ye Buyu provoked the Mist Priest into examining her mind, where she and Little Whale attacked him and Little Whale shattered him with a whale cry.
  • The crowd began regaining control of their bodies as the Mist Priest re-formed in a weakened, translucent state and asked Ye Buyu what she was.

Ch. 56Flood King's Crown

Ye Buyu exposed the Thin Mist Priests’ twin nature and fought the surviving priest, whose mist chains threatened the captives. Mu Bingge arrived and shattered the chains, leaving the battle poised to turn in the captives’ favor.

  • Ye Buyu learned that the Thin Mist Priests were twins who shared Priest authority, then seized the Mental Control specialist and resisted his powers.
  • The Thin Mist Priest switched places with Ye Buyu, but she tricked him and struck his neck with a Light Wheel.
  • The Thin Mist Priest sent controlled captives after Ye Buyu, but her healing ability left them unable to move without paying its cost.
  • The Thin Mist Priest tightened mist chains around the captives and slammed them toward the ground.
  • Mu Bingge appeared, shattered the chains with a mirror, and struck the Thin Mist Priest with her whip.

Ch. 57Simultaneous Kill

Mu Bingge, empowered by the Flood King's Crown, and Ye Buyu fought one Thin Mist Priest while Si Weijian and Mu Yang battled the other. After Ye Buyu revealed the Priests were twins who had to die simultaneously, both teams struck together and destroyed them.

  • Mu Bingge revealed the Flood King's Crown and attacked the Thin Mist Priest while Li Yan alerted Si Weijian and the authorities.
  • Ye Buyu caught the Thin Mist Priest from behind and explained that the two Priests shared separate authorities and could only be killed for good at the same time.
  • Si Weijian and Mu Yang learned the secret and attacked the other Thin Mist Priest as he tried to reunite with his counterpart.
  • Ye Buyu held the first Priest in place while Mu Bingge drove Water Mirror into his head, and Si Weijian and Mu Yang killed the second Priest with simultaneous attacks.
  • The combined attacks shattered the Corrosion Swamp, dispersed the mist, and ended the crisis.

Ch. 58A Day No One Knew About

After Mu Bingge killed the Thin Mist Priest, Ye Buyu reassured her that she brought hope rather than calamity and healed her wounds. Mu Yang then told Si Weijian about Mu Bingge’s painful past and the unexplained day she spent away from home, but Si Weijian insisted that her present happiness mattered more than uncovering it.

  • Mu Bingge killed the Thin Mist Priest as he cursed her and the Tidewater Workshop, and the mist over the battlefield cleared.
  • Ye Buyu tried to heal Mu Bingge and comforted her, saying their meeting had been good and that she brought hope.
  • Ye Buyu joked about her strange abilities, and Mu Bingge laughed as the dark clouds above her dispersed.
  • Mu Yang told Si Weijian that Mu Bingge’s mother had fused the Flood King's Crown into her when she was ten and that Mu Bingge had run away afterward.
  • Mu Yang explained that the Tidewater Workshop never learned what happened during the day Mu Bingge was away, but Si Weijian said no one should force her to talk about it.
  • Mu Yang praised Ye Buyu as stronger than he had first thought, while Si Weijian called her a calamity radar.

Ch. 59Dunno

After the battle, Si Weijian questioned Ye Buyu about how she had injured the Thin Mist Priest and learned about the twins. Ye Buyu concealed Little Whale’s role but deliberately showed Si Weijian that she knew she was connected to the [Whale of Wailing], leaving the Social Security Bureau to decide how to handle her.

  • A Social Security Bureau member reported that Ye Buyu had tricked a Thin Mist Priest into accepting her as a believer and severely injured him, after which Mu Bingge and Ye Buyu killed both Thin Mist Priests.
  • Si Weijian questioned Ye Buyu about her knowledge and abilities, but she followed Little Whale’s advice and refused to reveal its existence.
  • Si Weijian concluded that Ye Buyu had unusually strong mental defenses and wondered whether they were connected to her experience at the River of Forgetfulness.
  • Si Weijian hinted that the Social Security Bureau had lost track of the [Whale of Wailing], then checked Ye Buyu’s reaction before leaving.
  • Ye Buyu admitted to Little Whale that she had deliberately shown her connection to it so the Social Security Bureau would know she trusted them and could choose how to handle her.

Ch. 60Top-secret files

Si Weijian sealed Ye Buyu’s file as top secret over her suspected connection to the level-ten Calamity [Whale of Wailing]. After surviving the Corrosion Swamp, Ye Buyu and Mu Bingge parted ways, while the Social Security Bureau began investigating everyone who had entered the swamp.

  • Si Weijian ordered Ye Buyu’s file sealed as top secret, and an official placed Mu Bingge’s file beside it for close observation.
  • On the flight back, Mu Bingge recalled a threatening voice, and Ye Buyu and the others discussed training harder after escaping the Twin Priests.
  • At the Space Elevator, Mu Bingge told Mu Yang she might have brought Calamities to Ye Buyu, but refused to explain what she had encountered in the past.
  • Si Weijian and He Min began reviewing records of people who had entered the Corrosion Swamp to investigate the Thin Mist Priest’s claims.
