Half an hour had passed since Chen Luo left the base.
Things had hardly been peaceful during that time.
Two men in tattered shirts, with greasy hair and filthy faces, passed by the entrance to the Villa District.
They were starving, and the scorching sun had drained every last bit of energy out of them.
The sight of the Villa District immediately lifted their spirits.
One was named Xie Da, and the other Miao Hui.
To their delight, there was a black dog at the entrance, and he looked fairly big.
As the saying went, black was best, followed by yellow, spotted, and white: black dogs had the tastiest meat.
After going more than a day without food, the two men were thrilled to see him.
The dog was, of course, Dharma King, the only one left behind to guard the base.
Xie Da was about to charge over, but Miao Hui stopped him. "Wait."
Xie Da looked puzzled. "Wait for what? What if the dog runs off?"
Miao Hui shook his head. "We haven't eaten in over a day, and dogs run fast. What if we rush over and scare him away?"
Xie Da thought he had a point. "Then what do we do?"
Miao Hui grinned wickedly. "We need something to lure him over. They say a dog can never stop eating shit. As luck would have it, I've got a load ready. I'll squeeze out something fresh for him."
"That dog must be starving too. With this stuff, how could he resist?"
Xie Da nodded vigorously.
Dharma King saw the two men but ignored them. If I go out, what if someone takes the chance to sneak into the neighborhood?
Master entrusted me with the important job of guarding our home.
