Current Life

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Rebirth — retained storage space 1 Returned twenty-seven days before the apocalypse. His previously created storage space remained usable, but all his other powers had vanished.
Level One — Spatial awakening 9 Reawakened his Spatial ability and immediately controlled it using his previous-life experience. Absorbed two zombie crystals afterward.
Level Two 18 Advanced on the apocalypse’s first day upon absorbing the twenty-first crystal in that session. Continued to forty-two crystals total and successfully formed Void Sword, although the effort exhausted him.
Level Three 24 Reached four days into the apocalypse. His mana quantity nearly tripled compared with Level Two, and Void Sword’s duration increased from roughly five seconds to twenty.
Level Four 46 Broke through after absorbing eighty ordinary zombie crystals, seven Level One survivor crystals, the Devourer’s crystal, and part of the Level Four Rat King’s crystal. Gained enough power to use Void Walk; his physique and mana quality improved substantially.

Background / History

Previous Life

Chen Luo inherited a 42 percent stake in the Chen Group after his parents died in a car accident caused by brake failure. His uncle, Chen Jian’an, had arranged their deaths and diverted company money through fraudulent investments. Over six years, Chen Luo’s stake shrank to 17 percent and fell in value from more than seven billion yuan to approximately three billion 2.

Initially inexperienced and unable to escape his uncle’s control, Chen Luo became a formidable Spatial ability user known as the Void Monarch. Su Dazhu became his close friend and later died holding off attackers so Chen Luo could escape, before Chen Luo had mastered Void Walk. Chen Luo subsequently avenged him 1 2 4.

Food deprivation shaped much of his survival. He fought over a single sausage, repeatedly raided Mi Ling’s vegetables, and eventually ambushed and ate Thunder Dharma King. Absorbing the dog’s crystal raised him beyond King Rank 1 2 10 43.

Despite his strength, Chen Luo survived chiefly by hiding and escaping rather than confronting every threat. Eventually, he could find no other humans—only increasingly powerful monsters. Unable to endure the loneliness, he buried himself in a pit because he no longer wanted to live, then awakened in the past 1 48.

Preparing for the Apocalypse

With twenty-seven days remaining before the outbreak, Chen Luo prioritized food, clean water, equipment, and entertainment. He sold his three-billion-yuan shareholding for one billion to a well-connected buyer who could pay the next day, avoiding the delays and price manipulation his uncle would otherwise impose 1 2.

He hired detectives to locate Dharma King, rescued the dog from a dog-meat restaurant, and paid Wang Ming one million yuan. He also commissioned armor for himself and Su Dazhu, hired Ma Yu as a cooking instructor, and investigated Mi Ling and Mi Li because he knew their future abilities 3 4 5 6.

Unlike his former solitary life, Chen Luo intended to build a settlement and recruit capable allies before they rose to prominence. His retained storage space and knowledge of future threats formed the basis of that plan 4.

Appearance

Chen Luo is repeatedly described as exceptionally handsome; Wang Ming’s assistant is attracted to him, and Mi Li becomes particularly conscious of his looks after he rescues her 3 32.

  • His fitted silver, full-body alloy armor weighs twenty-two and a half kilograms 6.
  • Fighting zombies can leave him covered in blood and grime 32.
  • When Mi Ling returns from her journey, his clean clothes and healthy complexion make him look almost like someone living in ordinary, peaceful times 38.

Personality

Chen Luo is survival-oriented, suspicious of strangers, and openly unwilling to act as a hero. He ignores requests for supplies, rejects indiscriminate recruitment, and admits that he never intended to be a good person after his rebirth. Betrayal has taught him that waiting for an enemy to strike can be fatal 10 11 12 24.

His ruthlessness is especially pronounced toward people who harmed him or his friends in the previous timeline. He deliberately makes Chen Jian’an watch Chen Fei being eaten, and uses Chen Jing to teach Su Dazhu about manipulation before sending her into a zombie horde 8 14 17.

Toward trusted companions, he is protective and materially generous. He resolves to give Su Dazhu a better life, provides Ma Yu with safety and comfortable living conditions, and keeps Mi Li and Rice close because he values both their welfare and their rare abilities 4 28 34.

He also enjoys teasing people and manipulating circumstances to secure loyalty. His treatment of Mi Ling initially combines food-based humiliation with a demand for obedience, but he later recognizes that he went too far and apologizes 40 41 43 47.

Good food and comfort are major priorities. His previous deprivation drives his lavish stockpiling, while his poor cooking and dislike of chores lead him to recruit Ma Yu as a personal chef and housekeeper 1 5 23 27.

Abilities & Skills

Spatial Storage

A storage space created in his previous life survives his rebirth, allowing him to deposit and retrieve enormous quantities of supplies 1.

  • Time stops inside the space, preserving stored food 1.
  • Stores bulk cargo, weapons, tools, and prepared meals; at the grain depot, he takes approximately sixty thousand metric tons of rice and twenty thousand metric tons of flour 5 21 22.
  • Allows him to replace depleted stun batons immediately during combat 11.
  • Has finite capacity; he regrets not expanding it further in his previous life 5.
  • Conceals the scale of his stockpile even from allies who know about his Spatial ability 21 28.

Spatial Spheres

Chen Luo condenses invisible spatial power into transparent spheres and throws them at targets 9.

  • His first test cracks a section of wall slightly over ten centimeters across and four to five centimeters deep 9.
  • At Level One, one sphere consumes approximately a quarter of his mana, and he estimates that two would be needed to kill even the weakest zombie 9.
  • At Level Two, he can launch at least fifteen spheres with somewhat greater power, though stun batons remain more efficient against ordinary zombies 18.

Void Sword

Void Sword condenses spatial power into a pale-white, blade-like form with exceptional cutting power 18 19.

  • First mastered at Level Seven in his previous life, but reproduced at Level Two after rebirth through retained understanding 18 19.
  • Can sever bodies without spilling blood; the separated parts cannot simply be rejoined, and ordinary healing is ineffective unless a powerful Spatial ability user intervenes 19.
  • At his previous peak, the sword appeared solid and could last half an hour. His early post-rebirth version is faint and lasts less than five seconds 19.
  • Decapitates the Mutant Rat King and kills a Level Three Devourer with one slash 21 32.
  • Initially drains him so severely that forming it causes him to collapse 18.

Void Walk

Void Walk bypasses distance by moving Chen Luo through space; it is central to his survival and ambush tactics 1 47.

  • Previously mastered at Level Nine, but usable at Level Four after rebirth because he retains the necessary comprehension 19 46.
  • Before his breakthrough, he estimates that a Level Four use would cover at most one hundred meters and consume all his ability power 19.
  • Uses it to appear behind Mi Ling during their duel, overcoming their twenty-meter starting separation without injuring her 47.
  • In his previous life, repeatedly allowed him to escape danger rather than fight overwhelming opposition 1 48.

Advanced Spatial Techniques

  • Dimensional Blade — Mastered at King Rank in his previous life; not yet regained in the documented current timeline 19 43.
  • Energy Pulse — Named among the techniques through which Spatial abilities become powerful in the middle and later stages; no current-timeline use is documented 9.

Crystal Absorption and Physical Enhancement

Chen Luo absorbs crystal energy to strengthen his internal crystal, replenish power, and advance 9 18.

  • Spatial crystals are the most effective match for his ability 18.
  • His post-rebirth absorption capacity greatly exceeds his expectations: forty-two crystals in his first major session, roughly fifty low-grade crystals daily at Level Two, and eighty at Level Three 18 24 28.
  • Finds that one daily absorption session is slightly more effective than taking crystals every few hours 24.
  • Level-zero zombie crystals cease to support his advancement at Level Four 24 46.
  • Level Four gives elemental and special ability users physical capabilities comparable to Level Three physical users; Chen Luo’s improved eyesight is later demonstrated 46 50.

Survival Knowledge and Practical Skills

His previous-life experience lets him recognize threats, prepare for contaminated water, and instruct allies in using their abilities 4 10 17.

  • Teaches companions how to absorb crystals and guides Dharma King’s Lightning attacks and kiting tactics 10 18 24 35.
  • Uses pork to distract mutated rats and a visible stun baton to disguise his preparation of Void Sword 21.
  • Repairs a truck tire with Su Dazhu using stored tools and downloaded learning materials 22.
  • Remains a poor cook despite lessons and access to cooking videos 5 23.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • High-voltage stun batons — Purchases fifty at forty thousand yuan each. Highly effective against early zombies, but battery life is short; one is depleted after killing seven or eight zombies 6 11.
  • Alloy armor and helmet — Protect against early zombie claws and bites, at the cost of speed and mobility. Being surrounded remains dangerous 5 11.
  • Dagger — Uses it to kill Chen Jian’an, finish zombies through their forehead weak point, and extract crystals 8.
  • Vehicles — Uses a small truck for pre-apocalypse deliveries and a thirteen-meter heavy truck for transport, scavenging, and running down zombies 1 6 11 19.
  • Power equipment — Stockpiles ten diesel generators, fuel, solar panels, batteries, and power banks 5 28 35.
  • Offline phones — Purchases one hundred high-capacity phones containing entertainment and educational materials, including agriculture, electrical circuits, biology, and medicine 5 22.
  • Household and medical supplies — Stores cookware, appliances, walkie-talkies, tools, and medicines for external injuries and inflammation 5 22.

Major Supply Stockpiles

Supply Documented amount or expenditure
Prepared meals Stores five hundred professionally cooked dishes in less than an hour and continues collecting meals before the outbreak 1.
Pork Orders ten thousand tonnes; inspects an initial two-thousand-tonne shipment 1.
Vegetables Spends three hundred million yuan 5.
Purified drinking water Spends one hundred million yuan, anticipating that ordinary water will become contaminated 4 5.
Fruit Spends two hundred million yuan, chiefly on apples and oranges 5.
Rice and flour Collects approximately sixty thousand metric tons of rice and twenty thousand metric tons of flour from the grain depot 21.

Relationships

  • Su Dazhu — Closest friend and sworn younger brother; died protecting him in the previous life. Chen Luo equips and trains him, resolving to keep him alive this time. Su Dazhu is three days younger than him 4 18 19.
  • Dharma King / Thunder Dharma King — Lightning-using dog and companion. Chen Luo killed and ate him in the previous timeline, but rescues, feeds, and trains him after rebirth 2 4 10.
  • Ma Yu — Cooking instructor turned personal chef, housekeeper, and teammate. He rescues her from the hotel survivors and offers protection, food, and accommodation in exchange for managing the household 5 26 27 28.
  • Mi Li — Support ability user whom he recruits for her exceptional healing potential and reported future resurrection ability. He rescues her from a Devourer, teaches her crystal absorption, and earns her trust and admiration 6 28 32 35.
  • Mi Ling — Former opponent and prospective powerhouse ally. His attempts to demand obedience provoke conflict, but he apologizes, defeats her through Void Walk, and welcomes her into the team 43 47 49.
  • Rice — Psychic cat whose telepathy and danger detection Chen Luo highly values. Rice warns him of Mi Li’s danger and later detects malice toward the group 29 32 34 44.
  • Chen Jian’an — Eldest uncle, financial exploiter, and murderer of his parents. Chen Luo kills him on the first day of the apocalypse 2 8.
  • Chen Fei — Cousin who revealed the truth about his parents’ deaths in the previous life. Chen Luo incapacitates him and leaves him to be eaten by the Maid Zombie 2 7 8.
  • Chen Jing — Manipulative survivor who exploited Su Dazhu in the previous timeline. Chen Luo exposes her hidden food and ultimately sacrifices her to zombies 14 15 16 17.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Revenge and Early Supply Runs

Chen Luo lures Chen Jian’an and Chen Fei into staying home through a fabricated loan proposal, choosing the sparsely populated neighborhood over the dangerous city center. Once the apocalypse begins, he takes revenge and starts collecting crystals 6 7 8 9.

He then clears the cold-storage facility and retrieves its food. A subsequent grain-depot expedition brings him into conflict with mutated rats; defeating their king secures both a valuable crystal and an immense grain reserve 11 13 19 21.

Assembling the Household

After reuniting with Su Dazhu and reaching Level Three, Chen Luo rescues Ma Yu from Yunlai International Hotel. He covertly orders Dharma King to lure zombies to the bound survivors who had tried to kill her, then recruits her to manage his household 18 24 26 27 28.

While checking on Mi Ling and Mi Li, he encounters Rice and cooperates with Mi Li on a supply run. After saving Mi Li from a Devourer, he moves his team into her home so he can protect her and Rice while awaiting Mi Ling’s return 29 30 32 34 35.

Securing Leadership and Planning a Settlement

Mi Ling challenges Chen Luo’s authority after he excludes her from a feast. He apologizes for humiliating her but insists that sharing his supplies requires accepting his leadership. After reaching Level Four, he defeats her in their rooftop duel using Void Walk 40 41 43 46 47.

Chen Luo then proposes forming a larger, selectively recruited group rather than joining another faction. He anticipates that stronger zombies will force survivors toward the outskirts and decides to leave the apartment complex before it attracts too many people 48 49.

Notable Quotes

“Good food was the one thing in this world he couldn’t let go to waste. He needed to stock up first.” 1

“Nothing. But picking on an honest man over and over was wrong, especially when that man is my brother.” 17

“I need someone to handle things back home. There’s no one to cook, and I’d rather kill zombies than wash dishes and scrub pots.” 27

Trivia

  • Mi Ling is actually two months older than Chen Luo, but he gives Mi Li a false birthday that makes him appear two months older instead 42.
  • His initial stockpile favors rich meat dishes so heavily that he later longs for simple vegetable soup 23.
  • On the eve of the outbreak, he briefly worries that the apocalypse might not happen—then decides a financial loss would be preferable to humanity suffering through it 6.
