The father and son sat trembling on the bunk on the left, looking thoroughly frightened.
Qin Luo swapped out their handcuffs, then poured each of them a glass of water.
"Headquarters keeps putting out offers to take people in. Why haven't you joined them? There are so many bases. Surely one of them could accommodate you. Why keep wandering?"
Qin Luo had a keen eye. He could tell at a glance that the father and son were actually fairly capable.
The father's Mutant Ability Level had to be at least tier four. Any Ability User who could reach tier four at this point had decent potential and could do quite well at a base.
Neither father nor son said a word.
Qin Luo glanced behind the young man's ears. The fins were still conspicuous, and there were even scales behind his ears. "The bases are very accepting of Mutated People, too."
Perhaps it was because Qin Luo's tone had softened considerably, and he had even poured them water.
Only then did the man sigh and say helplessly, "We know the country looks after its people. We want a stable life, too. It's just that we have troubles we can't easily talk about."
Sitting beside Xu Duoduo, Qin Luo pressed him with easy composure. "What kind of troubles? If there's a problem, I can help you solve it. If you've broken the law, though, that's another matter."
