Background / History

Ning Fengzhi led the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect while its inherited Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda limited its users to the Soul Saint realm. He valued talent, long-term investment, and control of future developments, principles that shaped both the sect's policies and his choice of disciples 19.

While visiting an orphanage near Seven Treasure City, he took notice of Xu Yang's discipline, academic attitude, and leadership among the other children. Convinced by both Xu Yang's conduct and potential, Ning Fengzhi accepted him as a disciple despite doubts over Xu Yang choosing the support-oriented Sun Flower as his first soul ring 3 4.

Following the Tang Hao incident and Haotian School's closure, he sought to strengthen the sect's political position through the Heaven Dou Empire. He supported First Prince Xue Qinghe and arranged for sect disciples, including Xu Yang, to attend the Heaven Dou Royal Academy; he also publicly presented Xu Yang as his disciple to establish the boy's standing among major powers 16.

The Eight Petal Immortal Orchid began the evolution of his martial soul, allowing him to advance to level 80 and awaken an Eight Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. Ning Fengzhi is normally gentle, refined, and approachable, but his conduct is guided by calculated political judgment. He treats talent as an investment, builds influence through carefully chosen relationships, and considers the stability of the Heaven Dou Empire alongside the interests of his sect 19 159.

He is also deeply protective of his family and disciples. He was visibly anxious during Madam Ning's labor, attended Xu Yang's Soul Duel after learning of his Ten Thousand Year Third Soul Ring, and risked confrontation with Spirit Hall to protect Xu Yang in Spirit City 15 60 141.

When necessary, his pragmatism becomes ruthless. He considered using Chen Xin and Gu Rong as scapegoats to protect the sect's reputation, dismissed Tang Hao's warning while pursuing a hundred-thousand-year soul beast, and was willing to advocate usurpation to prevent Martial Soul Hall from gaining Heaven Dou 6 118 159.
