Xu Ye's pores tightened. Before he could react, Alice immediately sensed it within his sea of consciousness and cried out in shock and fury:
"What the hell are you? If you were the Illusion Overlord itself, this cat might be afraid of you. But you're just a lingering trace of its aura, and you think you can take over my nest? A-Ye's brain belongs to me!"
Alice sneered at the black snake of energy hurtling toward her. It radiated a terrifying pressure. Though only the size of a thumb, it would be an absolute disaster for any ordinary Awakened.
No one could withstand a deity's aura. Such beings existed beyond the food chain.
Do not look directly upon a god. Do not profane a god... or misfortune would follow.
Alice let out a low cry and conjured a slipper in Xu Ye's mind. She spun a full three hundred and sixty degrees, then smacked the black snake as though she were hitting a baseball.
Thwack!
At first, the black snake had dismissed Alice entirely. Now, as though it had encountered something utterly terrifying, it shuddered all over and went flying backward.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Frightened, it slithered frantically downward along the pathways of spiritual qi within Xu Ye's body, heading straight for his heart.
The Bandit Lord flew into a rage. "Fuck! You picked the brain first, and only came to me as your second choice? I'm your backup? If I could absorb divine energy directly, do you think you'd have a chance to escape?"
His heart contracted violently. A mysterious aura formed an iron wall that blocked the black snake. The snake seemed briefly dazed, then flicked its tail and continued downward.
Its
