Background / History

Alice is introduced as Xu Ye’s unusual, cat-shaped second personality. Meng Chengfei accepts that an animal-form personality may be possible because Xu Ye shows stable mental output and no signs of contamination. Xu Ye conceals the extent of Alice’s intelligence, answering a question about her speech by imitating a meow 8.

She resides in Xu Ye’s mind but can emerge from between his eyebrows. Although she claims that a second personality is supposed to seize its host’s body and destroy the primary personality, she repeatedly cooperates with him. By Chapter 40, Xu Ye remarks that she increasingly seems unlike a conventional second personality, spending much of her time sleeping, watching shows, and reading romance novels 10 22 40.

Missing Person Notice Investigation

Alice helps Xu Ye recover from the supposed Li Kang’s mental attack, then consumes the defeated target’s soul. The memories reveal that the corpse actually belongs to the woman Li Kang assaulted. Experiencing the assault memories leaves Alice distraught, and she asks Xu Ye to alternate Soul-Seizing duties with her 12 13.

During the mountain investigation, she urges Xu Ye to flee from the old-man Aberrant. When he refuses to abandon the team, she supports his charge by merging with him. Xu Ye ultimately uses Soul-Seizing to recreate the image of the Aberrant’s grandson, briefly restoring the old man’s senses and allowing the survivors to escape 16 17.

Alice later admits that she withheld additional memories from the earlier victim because the soul’s terror made her fear for Xu Ye’s safety. Those memories connect Li Kang’s assault to his search for the Eternal Holy Book 22.

Mirror Spirit Encounter

Alice’s Soul-Seizing has no effect on the Mirror Spirit, leaving her alarmed when it attacks Xu Ye. She is astonished that his separate tentacle talent can restrain the anomaly and absorb its energy 21.

Despite protesting that Xu Ye is exploiting her as “illegal kitten labor,” she searches the building and locates the Mirror Spirit in an eighth-floor makeup mirror. Xu Ye then resumes absorbing its energy 22.

School Pollution Incident

Alice detects pollution in the classroom building but cannot identify its exact location. Later, she locates the seamstress Aberrant during Xu Ye’s pursuit, though defeating that woman does not resolve the threat to the school 23 28.

During the battle with Wu Xiuxiu, Alice possesses Xu Ye to improve his evasive movements. After He Li destroys the Aberrant with a rocket, Alice recovers and shares memories that implicate Qin Yingying in the incident. She recommends reporting the Eternal Church connection and withdrawing 36 37.

When Qin Yingying kills herself, Alice cannot find her soul. She proposes interference from either a high-ranking Taboo Object or another Divine Sequence as possible explanations 38.

Noble Attack and Zhang Jian Investigation

Andre’s Mirror talent affects Alice alongside Xu Ye, slowing both their speech and movements. After Xu Ye breaks free, Alice assists his pursuit. Her limited consumption of Andre’s soul reveals that his father acted under authorization from the Silver Noble Theodore 41 42 43.

After Zhang Jian’s death, Alice consumes his fragmented soul but stops watching when she encounters a coercive encounter involving Han Li. Xu Ye’s heart later points out that her interruption caused them to miss important evidence. Alice subsequently notices Wang Yong nearby, helping draw Xu Ye’s attention back to his former classmate 48.

Appearance

Alice manifests as a white cat, usually moving with an elegant feline gait or sitting on Xu Ye’s shoulder 9 14 48.

She insists on being called “Princess Alice,” objects to being treated as a servant, and responds angrily to the insulting names generated by Xu Ye’s heart. Her boasts are often undercut by fear or hindsight: she taunts the old-man Aberrant only after it leaves and reverses her judgment of Wang Yong once his mother is exposed as the Pollution Source 9 17 18 22 34 35 48.

She repeatedly asks to control Xu Ye’s body so she can wear women’s clothes. He Li’s clothing especially attracts her attention, while romance novels and teen idol dramas influence her jokes and behavior. Xu Ye catches her using his memories to watch dramas 9 19 31 40 41.

Despite her threats and teasing, Alice is protective of Xu Ye. She withholds dangerous information out of concern, encourages retreat from overwhelming enemies, and becomes emotionally invested when he appears ready to fight to the death.
