The Lucky Fortune Tavern.
It was an ordinary tavern near the docks of Uman City, serving cheap food and drink in generous portions to a poor clientele.
In a guest room on the tavern's second floor.
Xu Ye opened his heavy eyelids. His whole body ached, and his limbs felt as though they had been whipped. He did not even have the strength to raise a hand.
It hurt!
It really hurt!
His head was buzzing, too.
What had happened earlier?
Even after fighting Yun Changeng, he should only have suffered physical pain. His brain shouldn't have been throbbing like this.
"Xu Kid, you're finally awake." Bandit Lord's voice rang out, sounding relieved.
Xu Ye stared blankly at the ceiling. "Where am I?"
"This is the Lucky Fortune Tavern. When you came ashore earlier, you suddenly collapsed for no apparent reason. Huge waves rose out at sea, too, and nearly capsized the Parrot."
"Then you passed out."
"It's the third day now."
"Huh?" Xu Ye exclaimed in surprise. He remembered none of it, but another matter concerned him more. "Is the Parrot all right? I paid for it."
Bandit Lord fell silent.
A few seconds later, Alice sensed that Xu Ye was awake and flew in through the doorway, draped over the Green-Headed Skeleton.
"A-Ye, you actually woke up."
"Were you hoping I'd become a vegetable? Then you could do whatever you wanted, or even control my body." Xu Ye struggled to sit up.
"Meow, you caught me... Ooh, what am I saying?" Alice covered her mouth and hurriedly changed the subject.
"You should thank me this time. If I hadn't been close to you when you passed out and turned into a streak of light to enter your mind, you probably would've died."
"What exactly happened?" Xu Ye asked
