In an upscale villa district in HZ City, a stunning woman in a white dress was eating dinner at the dining table when a middle-aged man entered the dining room. Seeing her, he asked, "Miss, why didn't you sleep a little longer?"

The woman shook her head. "A few hours is enough to recover my energy. I'm in a sleep state inside the gaming pod anyway, so I don't need to sleep too long. I need to get online early and make the most of my time leveling."

"By the way, Uncle Liu, why did you log out at this hour?" she asked.

Uncle Liu fell silent for a moment, then told her what had happened in the game.

After hearing him out, the woman furrowed her delicate brows. She thought for a moment before saying, "We entered the game to develop our business, not to fight for supremacy. There's no need to go up against World-Proud Heroes. Can't we just have everyone hide their IDs, buy masks, and wear them out of the city?"

"No. World-Proud Heroes is guarding every city gate now, and they're demanding that everyone leaving the city display their IDs. In-game IDs can't be changed. Besides, even if we sneak out, it'll hurt our people's morale. Most of them are hot-blooded young people, after all. Making them do this would amount to backing down before World-Proud Heroes, and a lot of young people won't accept that," Uncle Liu said earnestly.

"Then what do you suggest, Uncle Liu?" the woman asked. She knew he must have come up with a solution before logging out to find her.

"Miss, how is your relationship with Dustseal?" Uncle Liu asked.

The moment Dustseal was mentioned, the woman's calm expression vanished, replaced by an aggrieved look. "Nothing special. We're just business partners."

"Uh..." Uncle Liu wore an expression that plainly said he didn't believe her. "Miss, could you ask him to cause some more trouble for World-Proud Heroes? That way, they won't have time to bother with us, and we'll have more time to develop. We simply haven't had enough time yet. Given a little longer, we won't necessarily have to fear them."

"Well..." Thinking of Dustseal's attitude when he spoke to her, and of having to ask him for help, gave the woman a headache. In all these years, this was the first time she had felt so unsure of herself before a man.

"I'll do my best," she finally agreed, for the sake of the group's business development.

Wu Shaozhen had been grinding in Tiger Roar Forest from afternoon until evening. In over six hours, he had killed only 126 Jungle Tigers, earning 52,920 experience. His talent's poison had reached its cap of 480 points, Immortal Body had increased by 126 points, and his health growth had reached 727 points. With his title bonus, his total health had reached 6,200.

After more than six hours, Silver Big Bad Wolf had reached level 15, but Wu Shaozhen himself hadn't gained even a single level. His experience was still at LV16: 70406/80000.

This pace was far too slow for him. Killing a Jungle Tiger took him only a dozen seconds or so, but finding one was another matter. By now, he could barely find a single Jungle Tiger anywhere in Tiger Roar Forest. Moreover, perhaps because of the quest, the Jungle Tigers didn't respawn after being killed-or their respawn timer was simply very long.

"Ugh, I wonder if the city lord's troops have passed through yet. I've cleared this place pretty thoroughly, haven't I? If they haven't come through and the tigers respawn later, don't blame me for not clearing them out properly," Wu Shaozhen grumbled. He no longer wanted to grind here; it was too inefficient. If he kept this up, everyone else would catch up to his level. Although he had never wanted to level too quickly, he couldn't let others overtake him either. That would be embarrassing.

He listed the only piece of Black Iron Equipment that had dropped in his bag at the Auction House for twenty thousand. After more than six hours, prices for Black Iron Equipment had already fallen to ten to twenty thousand apiece. There were even several recorded transactions for Bronze equipment. It seemed he couldn't underestimate anyone. Players were growing incredibly fast.

Fortunately, the Black Iron Equipment dropped by a level 21 monster had high stats, so it was snapped up at twenty thousand. Yet Wu Shaozhen wasn't happy at all. This was all he had earned in more than six hours. He would have been better off killing a few members of World-Proud Heroes.

I'll try going a little deeper. It's been over six hours, so why haven't I seen the Jungle Tiger King the city lord mentioned? Does that thing even exist? He wasn't lying to me, was he? Wu Shaozhen thought.

Wu Shaozhen continued deeper into the forest. He was already practically in the deepest part of Tiger Roar Forest, and as he pressed farther in, everything along the way was utterly silent. There wasn't a sound. The deeper he went, the dimmer the light became, and the eerie atmosphere sent chills down his spine.

"Why is it so quiet?" Wu Shaozhen swallowed, unable to shake the feeling that something was watching him from the shadows.

"Maybe I should just forget it?" Wu Shaozhen began to lose his nerve. This place really was creepy.

"Gulp."

Just then, Wu Shaozhen suddenly heard a very faint swallowing sound. Quiet as it was, it stood out sharply in the silence.

"Come out!"

Wu Shaozhen shouted, looking toward the source of the sound, but he couldn't see anything.

Now he was even more unnerved. Without hesitation, he turned and ran. Fuck, this is way scarier than watching a horror movie!

But just as Wu Shaozhen started running away, a figure lunged at him.

Wu Shaozhen instinctively rolled to the side, dodging the pounce, then hurriedly looked at his attacker. It was an enormous tiger with black energy rising all over its body.

Wu Shaozhen quickly cast Insight on it.

[Demonized Jungle Tiger King] (Gold boss) Level: ??? Stats: ??? Skills: ???

"Holy shit, what the hell? All question marks? It's more than ten levels above me?" Wu Shaozhen stared in disbelief. The old saying was right-you really shouldn't mess with a tiger. I'm not touching this. No way.

Wu Shaozhen fled toward the edge of the forest without hesitation. If he couldn't see its stats, there was no way he could fight it. The Tiger King clearly had no intention of letting him go, however, and lunged again. Wu Shaozhen dodged with a sharp turn and kept running in another direction, managing to put a considerable distance between them.

The Tiger King missed again, then quickly changed direction and resumed its pursuit. To Wu Shaozhen's horror, the tiger was actually faster than him, and the distance between them was slowly shrinking.

"Its speed has to be at least 500. That's fucking insane," Wu Shaozhen complained. He immediately activated Extreme Speed, his speed surged, and the gap widened again.

Seeing him pull farther and farther away, the Tiger King opened its massive jaws and let out a thunderous roar. An invisible attack struck Wu Shaozhen.

-5703 Stunned for 3 seconds

"Fuck, what the hell is that damage?" Wu Shaozhen was startled. Without hesitation, he activated Void to remove the stun and continued his frantic escape.

At last, before Extreme Speed ended, he managed to get out of the Tiger King's sight. Still uneasy, Wu Shaozhen kept running without stopping for another ten minutes or so. Only after leaving Tiger Roar Forest did he breathe a sigh of relief, his entire back feeling drenched in sweat.

Is this some fucking joke? The Jungle Tigers are level 21, but their boss is a Gold boss whose level I can't even see? Are you sure there hasn't been a mistake?

Still shaken, Wu Shaozhen glanced back at Tiger Roar Forest. He felt as though he had spent the entire afternoon dancing on a knife's edge. He had even wanted to find the boss. Well, now he had found it-and nearly lost his life. It seemed he had better stay away until he was strong enough.

Once Wu Shaozhen recovered his composure, he noticed a message in his private chat. He had no idea when it had arrived, but he opened it.

Xue'er: "Could I ask you to take action for me?"

Wu Shaozhen's eyes lit up. Wasn't this money coming straight to his door? He immediately asked, "Against whom?"

Xue'er: "World-Proud Heroes!"

Wu Shaozhen paused. How had this woman ended up clashing with World-Proud Heroes too?

Su Muxue soon explained the situation to Wu Shaozhen. Only then did he realize that he had caused this whole affair.

After thinking for a moment, Wu Shaozhen replied directly, "I can help. My fee is five hundred thousand!"

Although he had caused the problem, he still had to earn what he could. After all, this woman was loaded.

Su Muxue agreed without hesitation. "Deal!"
