Beast claws ×4, beast fangs ×2, intermediate leather (green) ×1, low-level leather ×4, beast sinews ×2, fox meat ×6, bones ×6, Wild Wolf Meat ×8, Rabbit Meat ×4...
Ye Fei looked over his current materials and began searching the trading channel.
The beast sinew he had listed earlier was still there. He couldn't take it down now, and he didn't want to change the price, so he started searching for other items.
The beast claws and beast fangs seemed like weapon-crafting materials, but he had no recipes for those. At this stage, he was better off selling them for points, then buying more items he could actually use.
There weren't many listings for beast claws, of which he had four, though that was only in comparison with the various kinds of meat.
The lowest price for one beast claw was 2 points. Ye Fei listed his without hesitation.
The current price for beast fangs was 5 points, so he listed those at the lowest price as well.
With only a few dozen identical items at the same price, they shouldn't be hard to sell.
[Item sold]
Sure enough, things went much as he had expected. His four beast claws brought in 8 points.
Just over two minutes later, the 10 points for his two beast fangs arrived too.
Low-level leather sold at two pieces for 1 point. Ye Fei had four pieces, worth 2 points.
He listed the green-quality intermediate leather for 10 points, and it sold a little over half an hour later.
Even the beast sinew priced at 4 points, which he had thought might be hard to sell, sold before dark.
He listed the wolf meat at two portions for 1 point. All eight portions sold, bringing in 4 points.
The six bones also sold at two for 1 point, earning him 3 points.
After clearing all that out, Ye Fei didn't have many items left.
[Inventory 7/10: Bread ×23, Water ×21, Basic Timber ×6, Level-One Blood-Replenishing Pill ×2, Level-One Spirit-Replenishing Pill ×4, Rabbit Meat ×4, Fox Meat ×6]
His bread and water had both dwindled to a little over a dozen, but Ye Fei had opened two more Supply Crates that afternoon. He had also found a few pieces of timber, barely managing to replenish his stock a little.
Although he had cleared out most of his items, the increase in his points was quite satisfying.
Those items had sold for a total of 41 survival points. Together with the 4 left over from buying the cabinet recipe earlier, he now had 45 survival points saved up.
Before dinner, Ye Fei cleaned the yard once more, then reheated the rabbit meat from lunch and sat on the floor, eating his dinner from the dining table.
[Grassland/0090-1144-3656: Hey, senior, good evening! How did your haul go today?]
Night had fallen, and his junior from another time and space messaged Ye Fei again.
[Me: A big haul. I got to experience what it feels like to nearly die.]
Ye Fei ate his bread. In front of him sat a third of a piece of rabbit meat and the broth it had stewed in.
Thinking about his gains that day, he was certain they had been substantial, but the danger had been far too great.
Remembering the Snow Fox, he casually searched for Beast Essence Stones, only to see prices that left him speechless.
There were roughly a hundred or more Beast Essence Stones listed in the trading channel, from rabbits, sheep, wolves, foxes, tigers, and other animals.
There were quite a few varieties. Rabbit stones were the cheapest, listed at 100 points.
Fox stones were the most expensive. The cheapest fox stone was listed at 200, while the most expensive went for 1,000, though probably no one would buy it.
Tiger stones, by contrast, weren't particularly expensive among these. The cheapest cost only 150 points.
[Grassland/0090-1144-3656: Senior, your combat power is way too low. Pay more attention to your surroundings when you go out. Safety first. I was going to share today's haul with you, but do you still want to hear about it?]
The other person seemed a little worried by Ye Fei's mention of nearly dying. Instead of launching straight into bragging as originally intended, the junior now asked whether he wanted to hear it first.
[Me: Go ahead. I had Blood-Replenishing Pills, so I wasn't actually left crippled.]
Ye Fei smiled at the chat and told the other person to go ahead.
It was only natural for the junior to have a bigger haul. The other person's combat power was already in double digits, and there was probably plenty of combat experience behind it too. Even if the junior claimed to have killed a tiger, Ye Fei wouldn't feel bad about it.
After all, he and the little fox had already killed an adult Snow Fox with 22 combat power.
Though they had won that fight largely through luck.
[Grassland/0090-1144-3656: Then here goes. I went out today and hunted three wild rabbits, two sheep, and an adult wild wolf. The wolf bit me on the back. In the real world, that would've definitely gotten infected, but here I recovered after taking just one Blood-Replenishing Pill. While processing it, I also got a Beast Essence Stone, the kind that starts at a hundred points in the trading channel.]
After boasting about the day's haul, the other person did something else that left Ye Fei speechless.
[Your friend has sent you a targeted trade offer.] [Me: ?]
Ye Fei sent a question mark, then opened the targeted trade offer to inspect it.
[Your friend Grassland/0090-1144-3656 has initiated a targeted exchange. Offered items: Mutton ×6 portions, Lamb Chops ×2 portions. Requested items: Basic Timber ×2.]
Was this an offer to give me six portions of mutton and two portions of lamb chops?
Ye Fei had already disregarded the two pieces of basic timber being requested.
Basic timber currently cost 1 point for ten pieces, while mutton cost 1 point for two portions, and lamb chops cost 1 point per portion.
So this was basically a gift of 5 points?
What was this about?
Don't give me that fellow-alumni excuse. I don't buy it!
Besides, none of my fellow alumni had combat power this high!
[Grassland/0090-1144-3656: Just take it, senior. Your combat power is low, so hunting is a bit harder for you. Mine is decent. Getting this stuff is easy for me.]
Seeing that Ye Fei hadn't accepted and had sent a question mark instead, the other person immediately offered an explanation.
[Me: Where I'm from, nobody gives things away over a fellow-alumni connection that's so obviously not real.]
Ye Fei still didn't accept.
He wasn't some saint. He wouldn't give things away to others, but he wouldn't casually accept gifts from them either.
Of course, another reason was that he wasn't starving right now. If someone had offered him a knife when that fox had pounced on him earlier, he would certainly have taken it and used it without hesitation.
Different circumstances called for different responses.
[Grassland/0090-1144-3656: Are alumni ties that unreliable where you're from? Where we're from, if we encounter a lot of wounded people on the battlefield, we always save warriors from our own school first. Fellow alumni are family...]
The other person hesitated for a while before replying to Ye Fei.
The message also explained that, in the junior's time, fellow alumni were one family. Whenever someone needed help, everyone would lend a hand.
[Me: But I'm not actually your fellow alumnus. Besides, in our time, classmates scheming against each other to compete for a single spot was commonplace. It's completely different from your way of surviving, where you have to fight other races.]
Ye Fei finished the bread in his hand, ate all the meat and broth in his bowl, then lay down in bed and pulled the covers over himself before replying.
I knew that mutton wouldn't be so easy to accept. Good thing I didn't take it. Otherwise, if they came to me with a problem, I'd be torn over whether to help.
At the very least, he still couldn't accept someone's generosity and then ignore their plea for help.
His heart was still weak, after all!
