[Today's Random Quest: Hunt ×5, quest progress 0/5, completion rewards: 15 survival points, 1 Level-One Hunting Pack]
With his stomach full, Ye Fei prepared to head out again.
Today's random quest was to hunt.
And it required five hunting targets.
After checking the little fox's 25 Combat Power, Ye Fei felt that the difficult part of this quest would be finding prey.
"Yip!"
Although Qingxue the Little Fox hadn't changed much in size, she had grown better at making Ye Fei understand what she wanted to express.
Standing on Ye Fei's shoulder, she raised a front paw and pointed diagonally ahead, then gestured above her head to imitate a large ear.
That meant there was a wild rabbit.
"Come on, let's catch that rabbit!"
Ye Fei ran in that direction. After forty or fifty meters, he spotted a wild rabbit hopping through the snow.
[Wild rabbit, Combat Power 5, kick]
This wild rabbit was in excellent condition. With 5 Combat Power, it was the strongest wild rabbit Ye Fei had seen so far.
"Qingxue, go on."
Ye Fei didn't act himself. He pointed at the rabbit and had Qingxue the Little Fox bring it back.
"Yip~"
The little fox flicked her tail, then shot forward as a white blur. By the time Ye Fei looked again, she was already sitting in front of him, holding a wild rabbit several times her size in her mouth.
With her speed trait and 25 Combat Power unleashed in a burst, he couldn't even follow her movements. The vast gap left Ye Fei feeling rather helpless.
And here I am, a human with the Cultivation label...
Forget it. No point dwelling on it. I chose all this myself.
I'll earn some points first, then settle down to cultivate tonight.
[Wild rabbit killed, survival points +1]
With that survival point credited, Ye Fei still only had 2 survival points. Before leaving, he had spent another point on two beast bones, leaving him with two bundles of Wooden Arrows in his inventory.
He sold what he needed to sell and bought what he needed to use. At least for now, he had no intention of stockpiling supplies.
[Rabbit Meat +2, low-level leather +1, beast bone +1]
That was pretty much what wild rabbits yielded.
With the little fox perched on his shoulder, Ye Fei continued onward.
He wanted to chop trees, but his axe's durability was down to single digits, and he didn't yet have enough points to buy another.
He searched the snow for wild rabbits and picked up a few Supply Crates along the way, making a good haul over the morning.
By the time he arrived home at almost one in the afternoon, he had finished today's Random Quest and found four Supply Crates, along with a Pine Seedling.
He planted the Pine Seedling in the yard first, raising his home's Greening Points by another 5 to a total of 15. For some reason, the Phoenix Tree hadn't added any Greening Points at all.
[Home information: Ordinary wooden house (5×5) Yard enclosed by a Wooden Fence (10×10) Stored energy: 36.2, Greening Points: 15 (low-level greenery) Tilled plots 3, pine trees 3, Phoenix Tree (?) 1]
This was his home's information. The three plots, all completely different sizes, each counted as one plot, but whether the land had been tilled had no effect on the yard's Greening Points.
Only the pine trees increased its Greening Points.
"Yip, yip~"
The little fox jumped onto the tallest pine and played for a while, then called twice to Ye Fei from its tip.
"What is it?"
Ye Fei walked over to the tree and held out his hands for Little Fox to jump into.
"Yip~"
Qingxue the Little Fox jumped into his palms and rolled around twice in his hands. This time, she simply wanted some affection and a little playtime.
"Good girl. Hungry, aren't you? Let's get lunch ready."
With the pine planted, Ye Fei took the little fox back inside and began preparing lunch.
The simple stove had a timer and used less energy than the electric cooker in his previous simulated house. Because of that, he liked to set some meat and soup to stew before going out, so he could eat after simply reheating them when he got home.
He got everything ready, ate, and spent some time browsing the chat channel as usual.
Few people in the chat channel were still complaining about having nowhere to live. It seemed they had either built houses or died from illness or the cold.
[Snow Mountain/0099-5117-1888: Yes, I said it. So what? When I taught them to cultivate, I told them not to let it interfere with their daytime work. Chopping wood, finding Supply Crates, and doing Random Quests are all essential. I only sold them the steps and methods for practicing martial arts. I earned those two points. Do you expect me to take care of them for the rest of their lives just because they paid me two points?]
Ye Fei saw this person's message as soon as he opened the chat channel.
This person was quite active there.
But was he trying to explain himself to someone?
Ye Fei searched and, sure enough, found that the man had previously said things like their deaths had nothing to do with him.
"Team mode. He already got the points, and now he's just taking a little abuse..."
Ye Fei looked at the replies below. Many were still cursing the man.
Some might actually have paid him, while others were simply joining the commotion. Some had even paid someone else and were now lashing out at anyone they saw.
Still, the man hadn't lost anything from being cursed at. According to his earlier remarks, he had collected tuition from over a hundred people. That meant he had earned at least two hundred points from tuition alone during the first two days after entering this world.
Sometimes, getting a head start meant staying ahead every step of the way.
Ye Fei couldn't do something like that himself, but he didn't think there was anything wrong with it. It was just a transaction, and being cursed at wouldn't cause any real harm...
Perhaps all the abuse might cut off the man's future source of income?
With that thought, Ye Fei suddenly understood.
But none of this had much to do with him. After eating and drinking his fill, he sold the beast sinew and beast bones from the Hunting Gift Pack together and collected the points.
Five points from hunting, ten from the hunting quest, and five from selling the beast bones and leather, plus the one point he had before setting out that morning, brought his total to twenty-one.
He spent 15 points on an axe, put all the water and bread from his inventory into the Storage Cabinet, and Ye Fei headed out again with the little fox.
Once he stepped through the gate, the wind outside seemed stronger.
[Blizzard countdown: 06:53:51]
The blizzard would arrive in less than seven hours.
Ye Fei checked the time. It was already past two in the afternoon, which meant the blizzard would arrive a little after nine that night.
To guard against any wild beasts that might attack during the blizzard, he worked even harder at chopping wood that afternoon.
[Sapling (?): A mysterious sapling. Only by planting it in soil will you discover what sort of surprise it holds.]
It was another remarkable Sapling.
Ye Fei put the Sapling in his inventory, picked up the ice and pine needles that had fallen to the ground, and continued chopping trees.
He wasn't certain what would happen, but he still wanted to prepare some Wooden Fences just in case.
By the time the sun was about to set, the wind was already whipping snow through the air, pushing hard against anyone out in it.
Once he returned to the yard, the air around him instantly became calm and clear.
"Go play for a bit. I'll plant another tree."
Ye Fei went to the Crafting Bench and queued up Wooden Fences.
Then he took his iron pickaxe to another side of the yard and dug for a while before planting the Sapling.
Looking at the tiny Sapling, Ye Fei hoped it would turn out to be a fruit tree. He wanted some fruit.
