"Ying~"
Qingxue the Little Fox hopped onto Ye Fei's shoulder, rubbed her little head against his cheek, then raised a tiny paw to point at the giant white tiger on the ground.
The tiger was badly wounded. She couldn't move it, but when she shifted the fence to open a gap, it ran inside on its own.
"If you wanted a companion, you could at least have found a smaller one..."
Ye Fei sighed forlornly, put down his bow and arrows, and walked toward the Big White Tiger.
[Gravely wounded, dying tiger: combat power 51, tamable]
It was so badly wounded that it lay there motionless, yet it still had 51 combat power. Ye Fei had no idea how he was supposed to tame this enormous creature.
But clearly, even if he wanted to throw the tiger out now, that wasn't an option.
Never mind whether he could move it. With injuries like these, the tiger would certainly die if it went out into the wind and snow.
If he threw it outside to die, the tiger would surely fight to take him down with it.
"Can you understand me? Tell me what we should do now. Do I give you something to eat and you leave, or will you accept me as your master first?"
Standing beside the Big White Tiger's head, Ye Fei looked into its eyes and asked it outright.
Unlike the little fox, with whom he couldn't communicate at all, this tiger had tears welling in its eyes.
At Ye Fei's question, it blinked, seemingly considering which choice to make.
[White Tiger Cub has voluntarily accepted you as its master]
A notification appeared. After reading it, Ye Fei turned to stare at the still-listless giant tiger, his eyes filled with shock.
It was several times larger than the tigers he had seen at the zoo, and this was a white tiger cub?
Were tiger cubs in this world all hundreds of pounds like this?
But since the white tiger had accepted him as its master, he no longer needed to agonize over it. He took out some food and prepared to feed the huge tiger.
Yet when he set down two pieces of fox meat, the tiger on the ground roared at him.
"Roar-!"
After roaring, the white tiger watched Ye Fei retreat a few steps, then forced its badly wounded head up, caught the two pieces of meat in its mouth, and ate them.
Next, under Ye Fei's gaze, it did something that stunned both human and fox.
The Big White Tiger gave birth.
Right there in the yard, it delivered a palm-sized little white bundle whose eyes had yet to open.
Seeing the little white tiger cub being born, Ye Fei finally understood which one had just accepted him as its master.
The Big White Tiger had accepted him as master on behalf of the cub in its belly.
After giving birth, the Big White Tiger's last sliver of health vanished instantly. Without Ye Fei even having to dismantle it, it turned into three materials on the spot.
[Pet: White Tiger Cub, combat power 5, newborn and hungry...]
Ye Fei walked over and scooped up the little white bundle. Sure enough, this was the little creature in question, and it was hungry and waiting to be fed.
Only after picking up the items left behind by the Big White Tiger's self-dismantling did Ye Fei realize how special they were.
[White Tiger Inner Core (dropped through the white tiger's self-dismantling, bound for the White Tiger Cub's use): usable only by the cub born to this white tiger, cannot be traded, cannot be used in crafting] [Full White Tiger Hide (purple): the hide of an adult white tiger, material] [White Tiger Blade (purple): long saber, 10% tearing, requires 10 strength]
The inner core was for the little white tiger. Ye Fei picked it up and placed it beside the cub, and the little tiger, whose status had just shown it was hungry, began gnawing on it.
Its eyes weren't even open, but it had no trouble eating the core. In moments, it had swallowed the whole thing.
Once full, the little white tiger immediately entered an evolving state and fell asleep in Ye Fei's palm.
With nothing else to do, Ye Fei tucked his newly acquired pet into his pocket, then put away the tiger hide and the White Tiger Blade.
The White Tiger Blade was purple grade. For now, that was a truly high grade.
Ye Fei searched for purple weapons and found none at all.
Perhaps they were bought as soon as someone listed them, or perhaps no one was selling any.
But he couldn't use it either, so he could only set it aside for now.
He didn't plan to sell the purple tiger hide, either. At a time like this, only basic materials sold well. High-grade ones would fetch a proper price only once plenty of people could afford them.
"Whine..."
Qingxue the Little Fox had waited eagerly for so long, only for not a single piece of meat to be left in the end.
And now there was another tiny creature competing with her for her place!
She crouched on the ground, feeling wronged, waiting for Ye Fei to pick her up and comfort her. But Ye Fei had been distracted by the tiger's two purple drops. Only when she let out a pitiful whine did he notice something was wrong with the little fox.
"Qingxue, what's wrong?"
Ye Fei crouched down and reached out to scoop up the little fox.
"Whine, whine~"
Qingxue the Little Fox lay pitifully in his palm. Smelling the scent the cub had left behind, she rolled over several times to cover it with her own.
Mine. This human is mine. That big tiger was a liar!
"Be good. Let's go eat. Although we didn't get any meat, it left us some nice things. They should more or less cover its food expenses."
Ye Fei carried the little fox back into the house, set her down beside the table, then went to serve the meat soup that had finished simmering.
He had thought soup made from fox meat would have a strange taste, but now that he was eating it, it wasn't much different. That was probably another quirk of this world's rules.
Meat was meat. It all tasted good.
"Ying~"
As Qingxue the Little Fox ate her meat, she suddenly stopped feeling sad.
She was eating meat, and that little white tiger wasn't.
"Be good. If today's blizzard doesn't stop, we'll have to stay home and rest."
After finishing his meal, Ye Fei went out into the yard. Looking at the blizzard still raging outside, he had no intention of venturing out.
But he didn't return to the house, either. On a whim, he sat down right on the ground in the yard and began cultivating.
"Ying?"
Qingxue the Little Fox crouched on Ye Fei's shoulder and tilted her head curiously as she watched. Finding that she really couldn't understand what he was doing, she crawled into his other pocket, curled into a ball, and fell asleep.
Of course she had no objection to staying home.
Earlier, wanting prey, she had opened the fence and let in a dying creature. She hadn't expected to end up with a tiny rival competing for her human instead. The little fox was still upset about it.
