[Name: Ye Fei (ID: Snow Mountain/0099-5111-1111) Race: Human Talent: See Through Health: 72 Stamina: 77 Energy: 84 Combat power: 3 (below average) Equipment: Five-piece warmth set (warmth +25, defense +2, speed +1) Pet: None Inventory 5/10: Bread ×14, water ×14, Basic Timber ×3, severely worn axe, Level One Survival Pack Survival Points: 14]
Ye Fei looked at his personal information screen, repeatedly stroking the Snow Fox cub he had placed in the basket, and confirmed once again that he really had not tamed it.
His Pet Panel was still empty.
Still, raising a pet took time. Once it grew attached to him, it would be his.
His attention was now on the talent that had not appeared at first, which he had only just noticed.
See Through.
This must be the ability that let me see those hints, right?
But why was it called See Through? Weren't those just information prompts?
"Whine, whine..."
The Snow Fox cub lay quietly in the plastic basket. When Ye Fei stopped stroking it, it gave a couple of curious whines.
It was not actually being obedient. Its head simply hurt too much for it to move, and it worried that this human might suddenly kill it, so it had been secretly watching Ye Fei's movements and expressions.
"Wait a little longer. The chicken soup needs more time. Just smelling good isn't enough. It'll smell even better once the meat's cooked until tender."
Ye Fei looked down at the little creature. If it was not tamed yet, he would take his time. It seemed quite well-behaved right now, anyway.
After checking his personal information, he opened the house information to take a look.
The Energy Points were still slowly dropping. The electric pot simmering the chicken soup consumed 0.2 Energy Points per minute. Over half an hour had passed, and by the time it finished, it would probably have used 10 points.
That worked out to 1 survival point, which was still acceptable. After all, he did not need to cook every day.
After checking the changes to his personal information, Ye Fei took out the Survival Gift Pack.
[Opened Level One Survival Pack: Level-One Blood-Replenishing Pill +2, Level-One Spirit-Replenishing Pill +2, Level-One Pet Heart Pill +2]
Everything that came out of the Level One Survival Pack was medicine.
Red Blood-Replenishing Pills, blue Spirit-Restoring Pellets, and multicolored Pet Heart Pills.
[Level-One Blood-Replenishing Pill: Can be used for blood loss, anemia, blood deficiency, bleeding, and similar conditions. Restores a small amount of vitality (usable by humans and pets)] [Level-One Spirit-Replenishing Pill: Can be used for mental fatigue, unstable thoughts, and similar conditions. Restores a small amount of mental power (usable by humans and pets)] [Level-One Pet Heart Pill: Increases a pet's mood. May randomly increase pet loyalty, with a slight chance of removing negative conditions]
Reading the descriptions of the three medicines, Ye Fei had the inexplicable feeling that they were meant for him to use on the Snow Fox cub.
But he would not give it any now.
It was not his pet yet. If he healed it, this little fox would definitely wreck his home, and might even run away.
Seeing it injured and lying there weakly made him feel a little more at ease.
"Yip..."
The little fox had just smelled something wonderful, even better than the meat it had not gotten to eat.
But before it could struggle to raise its head and look, the scent vanished.
"You smelled that?"
Ye Fei continued stroking the little fox with the fingers that had just held the Pet Heart Pill. Sure enough, the little creature began nuzzling that hand, trying to win him over.
"Whine..."
Clutching Ye Fei's hand with its front paws, the little fox sniffed the lingering scent and confirmed that this was the hand that had held it.
It liked that smell. Although it did not know what it was, it was now certain that this human had taken it away again.
As for what Ye Fei was saying...
The Snow Fox cub could not understand human speech at all. In its mind, this human had taken its things again, and it could not let him get away.
"Such a good little thing. Too bad you're not mine yet, so I can't let you eat it."
Watching the little fox cling to his hand and act sweet, Ye Fei felt that it was quite clever. It knew to act cute when it wanted food.
But that was still not enough.
If it did not belong to him, he would not invest in it. That was a line Ye Fei would not cross, no matter how cute or affectionate it acted.
"Whine, whine..."
The little fox did not understand, but when it saw Ye Fei shaking his head, it loosened its paws dejectedly.
Having examined everything he currently owned, Ye Fei put it all away, then stood up to check the pot of chicken soup.
The moment he lifted the lid, the aroma of chicken soup filled the room.
The house was tiny, with no room for a table. He used to pull over a box to serve as a makeshift table, or simply sit on the edge of the bed and eat with his bowl in his hands.
Now all that clutter was gone. Even the clothes without attributes that he had arrived in had quickly vanished after he took them off.
Looking at what he still had in the house, Ye Fei could only take the three wooden boards out of his Inventory and lay them on the floor to prevent heat damage or spills that would be difficult to clean up.
Then he served himself a drumstick, a wing, a chicken head, and half a basin of soup, carried it over, and set it down.
"Whine... yip, yip..."
He did not know whether all foxes sounded like this, but as it smelled the food, Little Dumpling in the basket grew impatient.
It kept yipping nonstop, while Ye Fei sat beside it and watched.
The chicken soup was too hot. Not only could he not feed it to the little fox yet, but Ye Fei himself could not rush to eat either.
Still, the chicken soup that had consumed nearly 10 points of household energy reserves did more than simply fill his stomach.
[Stewed White-Feathered Chicken Soup (green): Grants the "basic chicken soup" effect upon consumption. Increases base recovery rate by 5% for 10 minutes]
A white-quality White-Feathered Chicken had become green-quality food after simmering for fifty minutes, granting a 5% increase in recovery rate. Ye Fei was not sure whether that percentage was high or low.
However, when he decided to check the trading channel and considered listing it for survival points, he began to feel that it really was not all that impressive.
The highest-grade item currently listed in the food category of the trading interface was a blue-quality fruit.
[Blue Crystal Grape (blue): Grants the "blue crystal blessing" effect upon consumption. Increases speed by 5 points for 30 minutes]
An increase of 5 speed points...
Ye Fei opened his personal screen and found the attributes listed after his combat power, which only appeared when he clicked to expand them. After checking his speed, he confirmed that he actually fell short of a single grape.
[Personal attributes: Strength 3, mental power 3, speed 3+1, defense 2+2, comprehension 3, luck ?]
There were six attributes in total, with luck still hidden.
None of the others had a base value higher than 3. Even with his equipment bonuses, the average was still below 3.5, so his combat power remained at 3.
A single grape added 5 speed points. Compared to that, the chicken soup Ye Fei had been so pleased with suddenly seemed much, much weaker.
It increased his own recovery rate by 5%, but his recovery rate seemed pretty weak to begin with.
The little fox had been lying there for over an hour and its health bar still had not recovered to half. That alone was proof enough.
