The Great Spirit Book Gallery / How to Enter the Forbidden Books Section
Aizen moved his arm slightly and found that his hand no longer hurt.
Suddenly, Yamabuki Chidori raised her scabbard and slammed it down on Aizen's forehead.
"Ouch!" Aizen Hand Muff his head.
"You still feel pain? You almost lost your life, do you know that? When you had the absolute upper hand, you were actually explaining your own strategy? Are you out of your mind? Go to the hospital! This is a battle, not a performance. Only the one who survives and stands up deserves applause and flowers. If you had ended the battle as quickly as possible after your first successful sneak attack, this wouldn't have happened. Letting your guard down before you're sure the enemy is completely dead is a big no-no." Yamabuki Chidori raised the scabbard in her hand, ready to strike again, but Aizen quickly tilted his head to dodge.
"You dare to dodge! You dare to dodge!" Yamabuki Chidori grabbed Aizen by the collar and flicked his forehead hard. As Teacher, he was unworthy of being a teacher if he didn't correct this flaw.
"I want you to remember what happened today forever. Whenever you gain the upper hand in a battle, recall the painful lessons of today. Even if you don't want to kill your opponent, you must ensure that they have absolutely no chance to fight back. Understand?" Yamabuki Chidori said.
Aizen lowered his head and obediently accepted the training.
In fact, he himself was not even aware of his own shortcomings.
This flaw is fatal.
"Teacher, I know I was wrong. I promise this will never happen again," Aizen his head.
Seeing Aizen Yamabuki Chidori's anger subsided a little. To err is human, to forgive divine; who hasn't made mistakes when they were young?
"Alright, now that you know you're wrong, go back. Don't blame the Teacher for being strict; these experiences were Teacher with blood and sweat," said Yamabuki Chidori.
Aizen drew his sword and stabbed himself in the back of his hand, causing blood to gush out.
"Hmm?" Yamabuki Chidori looked at Aizen.
"It's alright, Teacher. I have a bad memory. Every time I see the scar on my hand, I'll remember what happened today. I'll never forget this for the rest of my life." Aizen looked at Yamabuki Chidori with determination.
Yamabuki Chidori looked at Aizen, a satisfied smile playing on her lips. "As expected of you, Aizen Sōsuke."
"Let's go! I'll apply some medicine for you when we get back," said Yamabuki Chidori.
Aizen obediently left with his Teacher.
Suddenly, he felt as if he had forgotten something.
Never mind, going home with the Teacher is more important.
The edge of the jungle.
Ryuko is still tied up.
"Help! Can anyone hear me? Please help me! There isn't a single good man in this world! Help!"
It wasn't until the next morning that Ryuko was discovered and successfully returned to the brothel.
The next day in class, Aizen's left hand was wrapped in gauze, and it was a little itchy, perhaps because the wound had healed.
Yamabuki Chidori has accumulated a lot of work recently in order to teach Aizen, and is currently overwhelmed with revising the documents in front of her.
Aizen couldn't help but ask, "Teacher, do you need my help?"
"No need. I don't want you wasting your time on these useless chores," Yamabuki Chidori said without looking up.
Shinji Hirako gave you a thumbs up.
"So... what should I do today?" Aizen asked.
"Study on your own! Do whatever you want, just don't cause trouble. The ultimate goal of teaching you these things is to let you live freely, not to bind you to a certain position," Yamabuki Chidori said.
Aizen was taken aback. In truth, he had always believed that there must be a reason why Yamabuki Chidori was so kind to him, whether it was to use him or for some unspeakable purpose. However, as he got to know Yamabuki Chidori better, he found that she seemed to have no ulterior motives at all. She simply taught him various combat techniques and occasionally enlightened him when he was confused.
Aizen was silent for a moment, then suddenly asked a question, "Teacher, what is freedom? Have you... lived a free life?"
Yamabuki Chidori never expected that this child would start playing philosophy with her.
As expected of you.
Chapter Twenty-One: The Great Spirit Library Corridor
"Freedom?" Yamabuki Chidori tilted her head. "That's a false question, because everyone's definition of freedom is different, just like the definition of happiness—a thousand people have a thousand kinds of happiness. But if you ask me... freedom means being able to do what you want without being forced to do things you don't like, being relaxed and unrestrained. That's freedom in my mind. What about you?"
Aizen a bitter smile, "I don't know!"
Most young people feel lost about the future, unsure of what they can do or what they should do.
"How to do it" and "what to do" are all things that adults forcibly instill in children.
"Teacher, I'd like to read some books, but... the library doesn't have many books. Do you know where I can find a lot of books?" Aizen asked.
Yamabuki Chidori casually tossed out a golden token.
"A pass to the Great Spirit Library Corridor. Except for the Forbidden Books Section, you can browse all other books freely. Reading more books is a good thing. When I was young, I didn't like reading. My dad would chase after me with a feather duster. Hehe!" Yamabuki Chidori felt a little sad. Unconsciously, more than five hundred years had passed.
Aizen didn't ask how to get to the Forbidden Books Section; it was too early, and even if he knew the truth about this world, it wouldn't change anything.
Moreover, Teacher are among those who know the truth about the world; I wonder if my Teacher will tell me these things in the future.
Aizen the tokens, bowed slightly, and then left Yamabuki Chidori's office.
At this moment, Aizen was actually quite shocked. The Great Spirit Library Corridor recorded the entire history of Soul Society, including all the events, big and small. He originally thought that Yamabuki Chidori would never let him get close to the Great Spirit Library Corridor, but he didn't expect that Yamabuki Chidori would give him the pass to the Great Spirit Library Corridor so readily.
After leaving Yamabuki Chidori's office, Aizen carefully examined the pass for the Great Spirit Library Corridor.
This is a small token cast in gold, only two inches long and about the width of an adult male's thumb. It feels heavy in the palm of your hand.
Although they can no longer enter the Forbidden Books Section, the information and knowledge they can obtain far exceeds that of their peers.
Aizen was somewhat excited and quickly arrived at the Great Spirit Library Corridor, which recorded the entire history of Soul Society and was heavily guarded. As soon as Aizen approached the Great Spirit Library Corridor, someone with a weapon immediately stopped him.
"Halt!"
Aizen didn't say anything, but simply showed his pass. The two Guard immediately became very respectful upon seeing the pass and made way for him.
Aizen once thought that power games among adults were incredibly boring, but now he realizes that sometimes, power really is useful.
Without this pass, I don't know when I would be able to reach the Great Spirit Library Corridor to see the information I need.
Only a handful of people are allowed to enter the Great Spirit Library Corridor, so the environment here is even quieter than the library, almost deathly still. As soon as Aizen entered the Great Spirit Library Corridor, the door behind him slammed shut with a dull thud.
"I didn't expect the security here to be even tighter than that of the Central 46," Aizen muttered. What he wanted to know most right now was a clue about the Soul King. People's curiosity is often uncontrollable, and ever since Aizen learned that all information about the Soul King Soul King was kept secret, he had become even more eager to know about him.
He picked up a book at random and discovered that it contained information about the Sage of the Central 46 throughout history.
"Can't this even be considered top secret information?" Aizen muttered to himself.
The Central 46 is the highest-ranking organization in Soul Society, and theoretically, the information of each member is kept secret. Yet, information about these Sage can be found here.
However, these things held no interest for Aizen. Aizen reached out and stroked the book, which contained the discovery history of Great Noble, from millions of years ago to the present.
Just then, a cough came from behind Aizen. Aizen quickly turned around and placed his hand on his sword.
"Who goes there?" Aizen hissed.
After what happened last night, Aizen is now like a frightened bird, being extremely cautious about everything he does.
"Ahem! Don't mind me, I'm the manager here, ahem!"
In the dim light, an elderly man emerged, his face covered in wrinkles, but Aizen remained vigilant.
"It's really lively today. Usually, we don't see a single person here for months, but today there are two people," the old man said with a smile.
Aizen wore a gentle smile, but his hand never left his sword.
The old man stared at Aizen and suddenly asked, "Are you the Captain of the Gotei 13? Usually only Captain-level are qualified to come here to read books, but these newly appointed ones clearly don't like reading much. Ah! Reading is so much better!"
Aizen was slightly surprised. So only Captain-level powerhouses were qualified to come here to read books?
"Grandpa, I'm not the Captain. I'm here on behalf of the Teacher to look up some information," Aizen said respectfully.
"Your Teacher? Who is your Teacher? I don't know much about the outside world," the old man said with a smile.
"Have you heard of my Teacher's name, Yamabuki Chidori?" Aizen asked.
Upon hearing this name, the old man's expression instantly became very complex, and he gave Aizen a deep look.
"Oh no, does this old man have a grudge against my Teacher?" Aizen felt a pang of regret; he shouldn't have revealed the information so easily.
"So that's how it is. So you're his disciple." The old man turned away silently, looking somewhat forlorn. "You'd better be careful; your Teacher isn't a good person."
Aizen narrowed his eyes. Of course, he wouldn't doubt Yamabuki Chidori based on just one sentence. He was more curious about the old man's identity.
"Excuse me, sir/madam, who are you...?"
"Me? I should be the last member of the Tsunayashiro Clan in this world," the old man said with a sigh.
"The Tsunayashiro Clan is not..."
"It was destroyed hundreds of years ago, by your Teacher's own hands. My identity is rather special. The Tsunayashiro Clan controls the Great Spirit Library Corridor, and each generation has a Book Slave. They are required to manage the library from birth and cannot leave the Great Spirit Library Corridor from birth to death. You don't need to be so vigilant. I have no martial arts skills, otherwise Yamabuki Chidori wouldn't have allowed me to live to this day." The Book Slave smiled bitterly.
I never imagined that a member of the Tsunayashiro Clan would still exist in this world.
Aizen looked at the endless books in the Great Spirit Library Corridor and suddenly understood his Teacher.
It seems that, apart from Book Slave, no one else could possibly manage so many books.
Chapter Twenty-Two: How to Enter the Forbidden Books Section
"Alright, little one, what book do you want to read? I can remember every single one of these books," the Book Slave asked.
"Do you have any books about the Soul King here?" Aizen asked.
"Keep going in, turn left at the third row, second line. They're all books about the Soul King. Why is your Teacher investigating the Soul King? He is..." The Book Slave paused, not daring to continue.
Aizen, not wanting to waste any more time with the old man, went to the place where the books about the Soul King were recorded.
Aizen didn't have high hopes for these books, and sure enough, when he opened the first page, the contents were almost identical to those in the library.
"It seems that if I want to understand the Soul King, I must find a way to enter the Forbidden Books Section. There must be real records about the Soul King there." Aizen held the pass in his hand and walked in until he arrived at the Forbidden Books Section.
The Forbidden Books Section is located at the very back of the Great Spirit Library Corridor. If you have a floor plan, you can see that the Great Spirit Library Corridor looks like a giant donut.
The Forbidden Books Section was right in the center.
Just as Aizen arrived at the entrance to the Forbidden Books Section, several powerful killing intents suddenly locked onto him. The next second, black shadows flashed, and several knives were already at his neck.
Aizen clearly sensed that these Shinigami all possessed strength at the level of Seated Officer, and that he was no match for them at the moment.
"Even with the pass, I can't get in?" Aizen immediately showed his pass.
"No proof will get you in here unless both the chief of staff and the Chief Strategist come in person," the Grim Reapers said coldly, their tone devoid of any emotion. "Leave here immediately."
Although Aizen failed to enter the Forbidden Books Section, he learned how to get in: unless his Teacher or the Captain Commander himself came, it was absolutely impossible to enter.
"Okay, I understand. I'll leave now." Aizen raised his hands to indicate that he meant no harm, and then retreated step by step until he was out of sight of these people.
"It seems we won't be able to get in anytime soon." Aizen sighed. These Shinigami only recognize people, not things.
What should we do?
Maybe you should look at other materials! They might be helpful.
Aizen suddenly remembered that the Book Slave had mentioned there was another person in the Great Spirit Library Corridor. Who could it be?
Following the clues given by the Book Slave, Aizen saw another person.
It was none other than the Captain of the 8th Division, Shunsui Kyōraku.
Shunsui Kyōraku was slightly surprised to see Aizen, but quickly put on a smiling face.
"Aizen, we meet again."
The two had met once before, back at the Shino Academy.
"Captain Kyōraku, it's been a long time." Aizen bowed slightly, behaving very politely.
"How did you end up here? The information recorded here is way too old for you," Shunsui Kyōraku asked.
The Great Spirit Library Corridor records a great deal of history, and it is the most authentic history. However, it contains many dark aspects, and if young people read too much of it, it may cause psychological problems.
"I just said I wanted to read more books, and the Teacher gave me the pass to browse freely. Actually, I'm a little confused because I don't know where to start. There are just too many books here," Aizen said with a smile.
Shunsui Kyōraku was quite concerned about his own abilities. He looked at the bookshelf in front of him, then took out a book and sent it over.
"I suggest you start with this one at your age." Shunsui Kyōraku handed over a chronicle of the Soul Society, which roughly outlined the history of the Soul Society.
"But the Teacher is really biased. You know, only the current Captain are qualified to enter the Great Spirit Library Corridor to read these historical books, yet he gave you the pass. When I asked him for it back then, he kept it like a treasure. Maybe the Old Man saw that I have no talent for studying!" Shunsui Kyōraku couldn't help but mutter under his breath. Back when he and Yamabuki Chidori were studying together, the thing the two of them did most often was to sneak out drinking together.
"I still have work to do. You can take your time looking around here. I'll be going now." Shunsui Kyōraku adjusted his straw hat, said goodbye to Aizen, and then left.
After browsing through the books, Aizen found none that interested him, sighed softly, and prepared to leave.
