Yamabuki Chidori grabbed the documents from the desk and smacked him hard on the head. "Are you trying to shirk responsibility? Your subordinates drank themselves to sleep—why didn't you, their squad leader, know?"
The squad leader trembled all over with his head lowered. He knew that, at this point, nothing he said would help.
He had no idea what punishment awaited him.
"Stop hanging your head. Go back and write me a self-criticism. You're also docked one month's pay. One look tells me this isn't the first time something like this has happened. When you get back, straighten things out properly. If this happens again, a pay cut will be the least of your problems." Yamabuki Chidori's voice was icy.
The Seireitei had been peaceful for too long. Many young Soul Reapers had gradually forgotten their duties.
The squad leader finally breathed easy. Thankfully, it was only one month's pay. He could take that.
"Chief Strategist, rest assured. This will absolutely never happen again," the squad leader said firmly.
"The same goes for the rest of you. Stop standing there enjoying his misfortune. Look at yourselves. What kind of conduct is this? The Gotei 13 isn't a place for you to loaf around and wait for death." Yamabuki Chidori barked at the others. The squad leaders of the various patrol teams hurriedly nodded. They knew the matter had been temporarily settled.
"All right, get out of here!" After dismissing the negligent Soul Reapers, Yamabuki Chidori saw Aizen waiting outside.
"Teacher." A strange gleam flickered in Aizen's eyes as he looked at Yamabuki Chidori.
"Why aren't you out catching the murderer? What are you doing in my office?" Yamabuki Chidori asked.
Aizen looked at his teacher with a smile. "Isn't it obvious? A Soul Reaper was murdered this morning, and then
