While the two young men were planning their assignment, someone knocked on Yamabuki Chidori's office door again. This time, it was Shiba Isshin, captain of the Tenth Division.

"Isshin, you're here?" Yamabuki Chidori knew why he had come. One of Isshin's subordinates had died, and Isshin cared deeply about every member of his division. He would never let this go.

"Old Man, watching a squad member die right in front of me is a disgrace for a captain. Give me something to do. Otherwise, I'll go crazy sitting with this," Shiba Isshin said grimly.

Yamabuki Chidori raised an eyebrow. "As captain of the Tenth Division, your job is to steady your squad. How are you going to do that when you're worked up yourself?"

Shiba Isshin's shoulders slumped. If his squad member had died fighting a Hollow, a Soul Reaper could at least call it a fitting end. But his squad member had died at someone's hands. Isshin couldn't accept that.

There's an Assassin

"I know this is hard for you. But as a captain, you have more important work to do right now, don't you? I've put Aizen on the case. Trust him." Yamabuki Chidori tried to comfort Isshin. Carefree as Isshin usually seemed, he cared deeply about his subordinates. Something like this was bound to hurt him.

"Captain Shiba, please trust me. I'll make sure our fallen colleague gets justice," Aizen said.

His words were earnest, and so was his expression. Neither reflected what he truly thought.

To Aizen, too much attachment only held a person back. The moment someone formed a bond, they exposed a weakness.

Shiba Isshin said nothing. He patted Aizen on the shoulder, then strode out of the Staff Department.

"Aizen, Kuchiki, you've seen what happened. Find the truth as soon as you can."
