Background / History

Earth and the Futu Ancient Clan

Futu Yijing is a transmigrator from Earth who knows the original story's characters and events. He uses that knowledge to recognize figures such as Xiao Xiao and Mandala, while acknowledging that the living world contains details never described in the novel 3 5 17.

He began cultivating the nine-form True Dragon Precious Technique as a child. At his request, his grandfather Futuo Xuan traveled to other continents to obtain high-quality true dragon bloodline for him 12.

After gaining the Ancestral Pagoda's recognition, he became the second member of the clan after Ancestor Futu to cultivate the Endless Light Body. His exceptional strength prompted the clan to create a young-master position despite already having Qing Yanjing as its Saintess and prospective leader. Some elders initially opposed the appointment out of concern for Qing Yanjing, rather than hostility toward him 1 4 5.

Two Centuries on the Saint Abyss Continent

Before leaving the clan, Futu Yijing declared that he would return only after becoming a Demon-Slayer King. He spent most of the next two hundred years fighting on the Saint Abyss Continent, hunting the Outer Realm Evil Clan alone rather than joining the teams normally used by Demon Slaying Masters. He held first place among High-Rank Demon Slaying Masters for a hundred years 2 3.

The Heaven-Slaying Demon Emperor pursued him for 150 years after he killed numerous Earthly Sovereigns from the emperor's race. Unable to overcome the cultivation gap, Futu Yijing repeatedly entered space-time storms and relied on luck to escape into random parts of the continent. The emperor's blade left a scar along his left jaw and across the left side of his body 5 24 28 32.

One encounter changed his outlook particularly sharply. He exterminated a minor evil clan that had imprisoned women from the Great Thousand World and exploited them as cultivation cauldrons. All the surviving captives chose suicide rather than returning with him. The experience marked his transition from an optimistic young man from Earth into a hardened demon hunter 24.

His prolonged fighting delayed his cultivation, but he did not regret it. He regarded his perfected offensive techniques, physical strength, and practical combat experience as worth more than an earlier but less substantial Heavenly Sovereign breakthrough 32.

Appearance

Futu Yijing initially appears as a heroic-looking young man in black battle armor, carrying a spear. His long black hair is tied behind his head with a golden crown, and two centuries of warfare have left him with a persistent aura of bloodshed 1 3.

• Scar: A conspicuous mark along his left jaw adds severity to his face. Before his Heavenly Sovereign transformation, the full blade scar extends across the left half of his body 5 28.
• Dragon traits: Bloodline activation turns his black eyes into golden slit pupils; scales appear beneath his eyes and on his hands or face 22 23 38.
• Heavenly Sovereign body: His reconstructed flesh has a pure, jade-like luster 30.
• Later armor: Changes to purple-and-gold armor because Black Piece wears his black armor 31.
• Dragon Phoenix transformation: His hair becomes crimson, fiery phoenix wings emerge and merge into his body, and a blood-red halo spreads outward during refinement 50.

Personality

Futu Yijing is blunt, proud, and frequently sharp-tongued. He mocks Maha You openly, speaks to Qing Yanjing without deference to her Saint Grade status, and tells Mu Chen outright that his mother considers him weak. His confidence rests on extensive battlefield experience rather than cultivation rank alone 6 10 11 32.

He favors overwhelming offense, but recognizes genuine limits. He understands that a superior technique cannot erase the gap between an Earthly Sovereign and a Saint Grade expert, avoids risking spatial explosions for rewards he does not want, and suppresses a convenient cultivation surge when it threatens his long-term prospects 5 6 17 50.

His promises carry real weight. Although initially treating Mu Chen's protection as a limited obligation, he repeatedly risks his life to uphold his agreement with Qing Yanjing. His actions toward weaker cultivators—not merely his potential—are what win the Heavenly Emperor's favor 16 23 27 28.

His hostility toward the Outer Realm Evil Clan is uncompromising, especially toward traitors and the Blade Demon Clan responsible for his long pursuit. With family and trusted companions, however, he shows warmth: he misses his grandfather, spends his leave with Qing Xuan, and treats Mu Chen with an elder's affection 4 13 21 32.

True Dragon Precious Technique

A nine-form, Heaven-Gifted Divine Ability cultivated since childhood. The text also identifies it as an innate divine art of the True Dragon Clan. Futuo Xuan supplies the bloodline needed to support its cultivation 11 12.

Great Pagoda Art and Sacred Futu Pagoda

His clan cultivation art manifests the Sacred Futu Pagoda, whose crystalline radiance carries sealing power 2 11.

An offensive divine ability inherited through the spear of a deceased Saint Grade Heavenly Sovereign ancestor. Futu Yijing achieves initial mastery of all three forms within days, aided by two centuries of experience fighting the Outer Realm Evil Clan 7 8.

• Qing Yanjing — Former rival for clan leadership. Exchanges the Dragon Phoenix's coordinates for his protection of Mu Chen; he later considers preserving her ties to the clan part of his responsibility as its future leader 4 7 32.
