Joining Jia Huan’s Core Team

Twin Whips is introduced among the six guards placed under Jia Huan’s command. After Jia Huan subdues Skinny Monkey and Fathead Fish, the group acknowledges him as its superior. Twin Whips, Drunkard, and Biaozi are subsequently sent to change into their uniforms for action against a gambling den 6.

He and Drunkard later request leave after exhausting investigations. Twin Whips remains with Jia Huan following the move to the Celestial Pivot Office and again chooses to stay when Jia Huan becomes Hundred-Household Commander 7 12 34.

Squire Wu’s Murder and Bandit Connections

Twin Whips takes up a scholar’s complaint concerning his sister’s suspicious death. On Jia Huan’s orders, he leads the examination of the bodies, reports that both women died from poison rather than drowning, and confirms Squire Wu’s imprisonment 14.

He tortures Wu and records the confession connecting him to the Mang Mountain bandits. During the subsequent raid, Twin Whips and Skinny Monkey follow an underling into the stronghold’s treasure room and pack its gold, silver, and jewels into their bundles 15.

Ningguo Mansion’s Businesses

During Jia Huan’s retaliation against Jia Rong, Twin Whips kicks a protesting pawnshop manager to the floor and demands the ledgers. After Jia Zhen and Jia Rong apologize, he carries out the order to remove the seals from all but three confiscated shops 18.

Hundredfold Ferry and the Xinchang Dam Case

Twin Whips and Scholar investigate the gangs at Hundredfold Ferry ahead of the team. At the nighttime confrontation, Twin Whips displays his token and orders the assembled gang members to kneel 26 27.

In Xinchang Prefecture, he identifies Liu Strongman’s corpse and accompanies Jia Huan into the Zhoulong Escort Agency. He records Zhou’s confession that the dam’s destruction was deliberate and that Associate Prefect Su Chongshan ordered Liu’s murder. Jia Huan then assigns him and Biaozi to arrest grain merchant Shopkeeper Qian 28 29 30.

Back in the capital, Twin Whips brings Su Chongshan from the Southern Office to Jia Huan, who executes him in the Imperial Prison 33.

Gao Youjin and Sun Shaozu

Twin Whips helps escort the defeated White-Haired Killing Demon, Gao Youjin, to the Imperial Prison 41.

During Sun Shaozu’s arrest, he falsely claims to have personally heard Sun insult the emperor, supporting Jia Huan’s pretext for detention. He later presents the confession revealing Jia Baoyu as the instigator of the attack 42.

Water Mirror Theater Investigation

Twin Whips participates in the secret investigation of an emblem linked to trafficking, then accompanies Jia Huan to the Water Mirror Theater in disguise. He prepares transport, follows the stunt master’s carriage, and fires the Signal Arrow during the operation 45 47 48.

After reaching the compound, he obeys Jia Huan’s order to kill seven women in the underground chamber. He subsequently records the troupe master’s confession and helps interrogate the implicated officials. Following the case, he wakes Jia Huan to announce the arrival of a larger Southern Office delegation 48 49 50.
