"Strange. That zombie should still be here."
In an alley in Queens, Jessica Jones looked around with a slight toothache, speaking to the person beside her with a puzzled expression.
"I broke all four of his limbs and his spine, smashed his skull, dislocated his jaw, and immediately notified you people. I only went to wash my hands, so how did the zombie disappear?"
"It's all right. We can check the surveillance footage." The agent beside her wore a black suit, had a receding hairline, and a friendly smile. "As long as we can verify your story, S.H.I.E.L.D. never delays the rewards it owes."
"Good. Hurry up and check, then. I'm waiting for the money to buy alcohol. I've watched zombie movies since I was little—I definitely wouldn't mistake one. Besides, he reeked of rotten corpse protein, his joints were covered in maggots, and he wasn't dressed up for Halloween. The season's wrong anyway."
Jessica happily laid out her reasoning, stuffing her small hands into her trench coat pockets as she lowered her head to study the flow of black water on the ground.
It looked as though someone had dragged the zombie away. Two people, a man and a woman. There were high-heeled footprints, and the woman must have been huge—the prints were longer than Jessica's forearm, and the tracks in the alley mud were deep.
Maybe Dust Angel among the Mutants? Or Colossus wearing women's clothes?
A detective's mind was just that nimble, completely beyond her own control. The image of Colossus in women's clothing immediately appeared in Jessica's little head, making her retch.
