About ten minutes later, Deathstroke and Monark returned to New York on Earth-40K, specifically Loyalty Academy on Long Island. Little Wong was preparing lunch, and it looked like today's meal was tentacle stew.

"The Dreaming... tsk, what a magnificent place."

Monark was still marveling at the scenery he had seen earlier. In his hand was the mask Deathstroke had wheedled from Dream.

The mask looked somewhat like a World War I-era gas mask, but it was a holy relic. With it, even an ordinary person could freely enter and leave another person's dreams, accomplishing many things impossible in reality.

One of its more obvious effects was that everyone's dreams had layers. With Dream's mask, there was no need to prepare a spinning top; it could help people see the truth within illusion.

The Mustache Mage could sense a peculiar power in the mask, elusive yet immensely powerful and secretive.

"All right, let's go over the plan. First, who kidnapped Deadpool? Was it Freddy, the one who kills people in dreams?"

Deathstroke picked up the purple clay teapot Mordo had sent him and took a sip, telling Monark to quickly familiarize himself with how to use the item. Deathstroke himself would not get lost in dreams; Tenth Metal was, to some extent, the embodiment of imagination. Monark did not possess that ability and could only rely on external help.

First Dream frequently used the Dream Mask, but Daniel, the second Dream, more often hung it in a castle corridor as decoration.

Compared to First Dream, Daniel was much more laid-back. He did not like invading other people's dreams, much less changing anything through dreams.
