So It Was Her

It was another weekend, and the last one of the month in which the semester had begun.

With September drawing to a close, once this weekend was over, they only had three more days of classes before a seven-day holiday.

Plenty of young men and women in the flirting stage would make things official this weekend, then go somewhere together during the seven-day break. Of course, it had to be far enough away that they couldn't get home, so they could stay in a hotel... if you knew, you knew.

Or they would each go home, briefly begin a long-distance relationship, then reunite seven days later as though absence had made their hearts grow fonder.

Li Haoyang, for example.

He was wearing a new outfit today and had asked Liu Bingxin out on a date. He had even planned out his confession.

Wang Dachui wept bitterly. There was one less available beauty in the world, and now he couldn't give every girl a home.

He patted Li Haoyang on the shoulder and said solemnly, "Coach, I'm telling you, take care of Bingxin for me. If you dare treat her badly, I'll disown you as my son."

Li Haoyang rubbed his head and grinned goofily, then picked his nose and asked, "Dachui, do I look handsome today?"

"Handsome, my ass!"

Wang Dachui was furious.

Just then, Shen Qiao poked his head out of bed and asked, "How's it going, Dachui? Do you have a chance with the lovely Miss Tang?"

"Of course I do. Absolutely. Don't you know how charming I am?"

Wang Dachui thumped his chest confidently.

But Tang Enqi barely paid him any attention. He had tried asking her out this weekend, only for her to politely turn him down outright, saying she already had plans.

Ah, handsome and dashing as I am, do I really have to spend another weekend stuck here with these two?

Has nobody noticed my charm?

Suddenly, his expression changed. Looking at Luo Ye, who was putting on his backpack, he couldn't help asking, "Wild Kid, where are you off to now? You snuck away last weekend, and now you're trying the same trick again?"

"A Hanfu Club gathering. I've got my Hanfu in my backpack. I wasn't sure whether we had to wear it, so I brought it along just in case."

Hearing that, Wang Dachui breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as he wasn't going out with a girl.

His own failures hurt, but his friends' successes were downright unbearable.

"Coach, if your confession succeeds, you're banished from Dorm 515. If it fails, you're still my son!"

Li Haoyang smiled at Wang Dachui's words, then turned to leave the dorm room.

Suddenly, Wang Dachui stepped forward and called out to Li Haoyang, "Coach!"

His gaze was like that of an old father watching his son marry into another family.

"If you don't come back with good news, I'll be even sadder."

"That's so cheesy," Shen Qiao said, speechless.

Luo Ye nodded too.

Li Haoyang left, leaving only the lonely sight of his retreating back.

The wind howled mournfully, the Yi River ran cold; the warrior departed, never to return...

Quite the poetry recital.

Everyone had their plans for the weekend. After Luo Ye left, only Shen Qiao and Wang Dachui remained in Dorm 515.

One lounged around lazily, spending most of his time asleep.

The other played games day and night, yet somehow was still terrible at them.

After leaving, Luo Ye received a message from Su Baizhou.

He had changed Su Baizhou's contact name to Fairy Senior.

Fairy Senior: You still have my car keys.

At that reminder, Luo Ye suddenly remembered.

Right, I almost forgot about that.

Then Su Baizhou sent another message.

Fairy Senior: Come to the Faculty Apartments. I'll send you the address for the gathering.

Luo Ye froze for a moment when he saw the message, then understood what she meant.

Fairy Senior wanted him to drive her there!

A sense of fulfillment surged through Luo Ye's heart, as though he had been given a shot of adrenaline. Emotion flooded the emptiness inside him, and happiness radiated from his entire being.

He headed toward the Faculty Apartments and arrived at the parking lot.

Su Baizhou was already standing beside the car.

Before him, Su Baizhou stood poised and elegant in red Hanfu beside the glaringly out-of-place pink Chopped Chili Fish Head.

Su Baizhou's figure and looks suited any outfit, especially this red Hanfu. She looked like a classical beauty who had stepped out of a painting.

She was like a sheltered young lady from an ancient noble household, impossible to look away from.

Seeing Luo Ye in casual clothes, Su Baizhou's brows drew together in an almost imperceptible frown.

This guy actually didn't wear his Hanfu.

Luo Ye noticed the issue too and said bashfully, "I... I packed it in my backpack."

Ugh, this stupid mouth. Why am I stammering again?

"Put it on."

Su Baizhou spoke calmly.

"Huh? Here?" Luo Ye glanced around, wondering whether he had heard her correctly.

"It's still early. Go change at home."

"At home?"

Luo Ye looked puzzled.

"Yes."

Su Baizhou nodded as though nothing were unusual.

She had meant to tell him to change at her place, but when she remembered that Gu Mingxuan was this junior's older cousin, she couldn't quite bring herself to say it.

It wasn't really her home. Strictly speaking, it was Luo Ye's.

But saying "go change at your place" was even harder for her.

So she could only leave out whose home it was and simply tell him to change at home.

But it seemed easy to misunderstand no matter how she phrased it.

Luo Ye understood, but didn't joke about it. He was merely curious about why Fairy Senior had simply called it "home."

He wasn't conceited enough to think she already considered him family.

He liked Fairy Senior, but that didn't mean he would make jokes reserved for couples before they were actually together.

At this point, Luo Ye still didn't know that Su Baizhou was the one who had gotten him taken to the police station, nor that she was renting that apartment.

"Follow me."

Su Baizhou didn't dwell on it. She started walking, leading the way.

Building Five, Entrance Four, Room 614.

When they reached the door to Room 614, Luo Ye suddenly felt a faint sense of familiarity.

The mention of Room 614 hadn't sparked any reaction, but now that he was standing at its door, Luo Ye suddenly remembered something...

"Senior... you..."

Luo Ye began stumbling over his words.

Su Baizhou froze slightly too.

Did he... still not know she was renting Gu Mingxuan's apartment?

When Luo Ye had ordered takeout for her in the early hours of that morning, she had assumed he knew.

Remembering how she had gotten her junior taken to the police station before his semester had even begun, even the Iceberg Goddess couldn't help looking a little embarrassed.

Fortunately, Luo Ye didn't ask.

Both understood, and neither mentioned what had happened before.

An indescribable atmosphere settled between them.

After opening the door, Su Baizhou didn't go inside. Instead, she pointed into the apartment and said, "That's my room. Of the other two, one has Professor Gu's things in it, and the other is the room he kept for you."

"Got it, Senior!"

Luo Ye's body was a little stiff.

Once he entered the apartment, Luo Ye was finally certain.

This was Gu Mingxuan's apartment. This was where the police had suddenly burst in and arrested him, leaving him utterly bewildered. He had loudly protested his innocence, but nobody had listened.

He had never imagined that the person who had gotten him hauled in the day before the semester began was Fairy Senior.

Gu Mingxuan had actually rented his apartment to Fairy Senior...

As it turned out, he and Fairy Senior had already crossed paths like this before the semester even began.

Luo Ye entered the room his older cousin had kept for him and began changing into his Hanfu.
