Wang Xiaoliang inspected and prepared his three new campus shops, relying on Kong Xiuyun, Sister Li, and Sun Ting to organize the work and plan their merchandise. After a productive day, he received a blunt message from Kong Xiuyun demanding an expense report.
Wang Xiaoliang accepted Kong Xiuyun’s strict expense controls and followed the Book of Fate’s warning as he prepared three supermarkets. Just as preparations neared completion, a woman arrived at Store One, and Wang Xiaoliang greeted her with surprise and affection.
Wang Xiaoliang reunited with Wei Zijin, reassured her about a female employee, and joined her for dinner with Li Lanxiang and Zhou Qiang. Zhou Qiang advised him to hire a manager and focus on growing his business, while the supermarket prepared to open a day early; Huang Xueli arrived but could not celebrate with a drink because of a dorm inspection.
Wang Xiaoliang and Wei Zijin shared a meal with Zhou Qiang, Li Lanxiang, and Huang Xueli, where they discussed their successful supermarket venture and Zhou praised their contributions. Wang spent a romantic afternoon and night with Wei before turning his attention to the supermarkets’ openings the next morning.
Wang Xiaoliang oversaw the busy first day at all three campus supermarkets, hired part-time student workers, and coordinated staffing and financial reporting. The stores earned over seventy-three thousand yuan in sales, and he ended the night both touched by Wei Zijin’s note and calculating how much profit he might make.
Wang Xiaoliang's store passed a school inspection and drew heavy business, prompting him to arrange for three additional cash registers. He learned that Liu Xinyu was getting married and, after a playful misunderstanding with Wei Zijin, found out that she had already arranged for them to attend together.
Wang Xiaoliang managed his growing supermarket business while Liang Yanni asked to be interviewed by Wei Zijin, and he tried to avoid provoking his girlfriend's jealousy. He later reunited with Wei Zijin and friends for lunch, where they discussed Hongbin Tower's closure, an upcoming wedding trip, and university students' holiday rules.
Wang Xiaoliang and Zhou Qiang bought proper outfits for their roles as best men, and Wang Xiaoliang bought Wei Zijin an expensive dress. Later, he studied the Book of Fate and realized that his supermarket partnership already met its conditions for success, leaving him confident in the venture.
Wang Xiaoliang wrapped up his deliveries and arranged for the shops to run while he and Wei Zijin traveled out of town. As they packed, he urged Wei Zijin to replace her careless assistant, and she asked what he meant by doing well with her show and short videos.
Wei Zijin talked with Wang Xiaoliang about her interview series before they traveled with Zhou Qiang and Li Lanxiang to Liu Xinyu’s wedding. At the airport, they ran into old college friends who were stunned that Wei Zijin was Wang Xiaoliang’s wife, and another familiar voice called to the women as boarding approached.
On the flight, Zhou Qiang explained Liu Xinyu’s rare ability to earn people’s trust and reassured Wang Xiaoliang that Liu Xinyu considered him a friend. The chapter left Wang Xiaoliang learning that Liu Xinyu had been having a hard time, though Zhou Qiang would not reveal the private details.
Wang Xiaoliang and the others arrived in Fucheng, where Liu Xinyu arranged their hotel and a private lunch with fellow Jiang University alumni. The chapter left Wang Xiaoliang and Zhou Qiang waiting in the lavish dining room as the guests gathered, while they kept quiet about what they had heard concerning Zhao Shengkai.
Wang Xiaoliang and his friends reunited with Xiao Weijin and other Jiang University alumni over a meal before introducing themselves and catching up. Liu Xinyu arrived looking transformed, warmly greeted the group, and asked Wei Zijin for help with something important.
At his wedding banquet in Fucheng, Liu Xinyu hosted his Jiang University classmates lavishly before revealing to the friends who stayed behind that his glasses were only for show. He invited Zeng Haiyan to join their outings and arranged for Wang Xiaoliang and Zhou Qiang to stay at his home and meet his family.
Liu Xinyu brought his friends to a secluded villa in Fucheng, where they met his childhood friend Fan Qishan, a bald man absorbed in reading the Diamond Sutra. Fan Qishan greeted Wang Xiaoliang and Zhou Qiang and thanked them for bringing him good luck.
Liu Xinyu welcomed his old friends to his family’s villa and explained the three adjoining houses his grandfather had bought to support each generation of the family. Zeng Haiyan revealed she had quit her job to sell stinky tofu, then reignited a dispute with Wang Xiaoliang over whether he deserved Wei Zijin.
Wang Xiaoliang and his friends prepared to meet Liu Xinyu’s parents at the villa, while Wei Zijin showed her affection and gave him clothes she had chosen for the occasion. Liu Xinyu introduced his fiancée, Yang Qingyu, and called Fan Qishan to dinner.
Liu Xinyu brought Wang Xiaoliang, Wei Zijin, and his other close friends to dinner with his parents in Fucheng. After Liu Xinyu's father asked Fan Qishan to read the guests' faces and judge whether their destinies clashed with Liu Xinyu's, Fan reluctantly agreed under threat of losing access to his favorite cooking.
Fan Qishan read the guests’ luck and relationships at dinner, startling Wang Xiaoliang and Wei Zijin by revealing their feelings had lasted nearly four years. He left Zeng Haiyan with a warning that her mouth could ruin her prospects, then resumed eating as Liu Xinyu’s family teased him about their closeness.
Liu Xinyu explained how Zhou Qiang’s wife had signaled trust by asking about private matters, prompting Wang Xiaoliang to deduce that Zeng Haiyan had once been involved with Liu Xinyu. Liu confirmed it, then read Wang and Zhou’s personalities and began explaining Zhou’s guarded nature.
Liu Xinyu told Wang Xiaoliang and Zhou Qiang how his grandfather built a fortune by gathering information through his Early Morning Wine stall and turning struggling factories around. He also explained how his grandfather raised him, Fan Qishan, and Qingyu together, ending with a story about how Fan Qishan got his name.
Liu Xinyu recounted his childhood with Fan Qishan and Qingyu, their life with their perceptive, affectionate grandfather, and the circumstances of the old man's death. After Grandpa died, Fan Qishan left with a Taoist priest to learn from him, leaving Wang Xiaoliang wondering why Liu Xinyu had shared the story.
Liu Xinyu explained that his skill at reading people came from years of practice, while Fan Qishan's focused mind let him master whatever he pursued. After Fan Qishan admitted he had been wrong, Liu Xinyu began to confide what had truly been troubling him.
Liu Xinyu recounted how his father’s ambition and infidelity fractured the family, while his grandfather tried to protect them by securing the factories and the Early Morning Wine shop. He ended his story by revealing that his father had eventually been kidnapped.
Liu Xinyu explained how his grandfather’s encouragement and his father’s expectations shaped his plans to stay in Jiangcheng, until his father’s sincere request convinced him to return home. The conversation ended when Yang Qingyu and her friends arrived, and Liu Xinyu joked that his wife’s praise was a restaurant owner’s sales skill.
