Background / History
Willow Deity originated as the first willow between heaven and earth and lived through five eras beginning with the Chaos Era. She repeatedly underwent nirvana, even severing her original innate body when she came to regard it as an obstacle to transcendence. Her Sacrificial Spirit Method enabled weak human communities to worship powerful spiritual beings in exchange for protection 11 184 533.
During Immortal Ancient, she rose to prominence as a defender of the Primordial Ancient Realm. Her original body invaded the Foreign Realm alone, fighting her way in and out nine times and making its Immortal Kings fear retaliation. She also dispatched avatars to defend threatened regions. One avatar confronted Ao Sheng, Yuan Chu, and Tai Shi across the Immortal Domain Gate, but was eventually wounded and left as a golden willow in Thunder Abyss 15 457 522 541.
Her search for the truth behind ancient calamities took her into the Boundary Sea and darkness. After another near-fatal nirvana, she lost memories and appeared at Stone Village as a charred willow. She later recognized that her arrival was connected to Xiao Tian and Shi Hao, although the exact karmic circumstances remained unclear to her 18 148.
Forms and Offshoots
| Form / Remnant | Distinction |
|---|---|
| Stone Village willow | Her recovering tree form, initially reduced to a scorched trunk with one living branch 11. |
| Burial World offshoot | Grew from a branch left during Immortal Ancient. Its consciousness survives in a new willow planted in Xiao Tian’s Immortal Medicine Garden 305. |
| Ancestral stump and roots | Remains abandoned after nirvana, with life power still resisting an Immortal King’s thunder. Xiao Tian removes the thunder and merges the remains with the Burial World clone 411. |
| Golden Willow Tree | A separate avatar exhausted after fighting several Peak Immortal Kings. It continues sheltering nearby beings in Thunder Abyss and later merges with Xiao Tian’s companion clone 457 458. |
| Dark Willow Deity | Initially mistaken for a clone, but identified by Xiao Tian as the original physical body shed during her transformation. It retains memories and a spiritual presence while her main Primordial Spirit travels onward 531 532 533. |
| Traveling Primordial Spirit | Her main self’s spirit, accompanied by Little Tower in the Boundary Sea. It remains connected to the abandoned body across immense distances 532. |
Appearance
Willow Deity’s appearance changes with her recovery, ranging from a nearly dead willow to a radiant tree or a human manifestation surrounded by divine worlds 11 147 532.
- Initial tree form: A mostly blackened trunk that two adults can encircle, with one tender green branch. Its gentle radiance forms a halo over Stone Village 11.
- Recovered tree form: By the True Dragon’s Lair expedition, she has 108 crystalline green branches, bark resembling True Dragon scales, and no remaining charring 147.
- Human manifestation: A tall, slender woman with soft features and straight, sword-like brows. Her white robes, drifting mist, and golden halo accompany three thousand surrounding clusters of world-like light 179 532.
- Companion clone: Appears as a graceful immortal maiden in a pale golden gown, veiled in chaos mist 458.
- Dark body: A vast black willow whose leaves resemble miniature dark universes; a single leaf exceeds a star domain in size. On closer approach, it can appear as an ordinary-sized black-jade willow 531.
Personality
Willow Deity is patient and approachable toward those under her protection. She gently explains dangerous artifacts to Xiao Tian, guides the Gourd Vine’s cultivation, and briefly joins Stone Village’s feast rather than remaining aloof from its celebrations. Her concern for Shi Hao is explicitly both that of a master and an adoptive mother 97 150 535.
Her kindness does not extend to aggressors. She strips invading cultivators of their vitality when they attack villagers, and she openly condemns Immortal Domain kings who refused to aid the Primordial Ancient Realm. Despite benefiting from Xiao Tian’s Dao diagrams, she takes pride in forging her own path rather than simply copying another being’s cultivation 18 522 524.
She enjoys battle, but chooses her unborn child’s safety over joining Xiao Tian against the Dark Quasi-Immortal Emperors. She is also willing to reconsider a dangerous course when Xiao Tian warns her that several such emperors await beyond the Boundary Sea Dam 532 553 554.
Abilities & Skills
Sacrificial Spirit Method and Divine Kingdoms
Willow Deity created the Sacrificial Spirit Method, also called the Divine Path Method, and receives worship from its practitioners throughout many worlds 168 532.
- Her three thousand surrounding lights represent universes containing ancient kingdoms and worshippers 532.
- Avatars spread her method through other universes in the Boundary Sea, increasing the faith and sacrificial power she accumulates over time 533.
- This sacrificial power reinforces both her combat strength and endurance 572.
- The Burial World is connected to one of her three thousand divine kingdoms; its tribes revere the offshoot left there as their ancestral deity 289.
- Her method preserves a connection between her main Primordial Spirit and abandoned physical body across immeasurable distances 532.
Great Dao of Life and Healing
Her innate command of life supports regeneration, medicine refinement, and cultivation baptisms 97 457.
- Provides golden spirit dew that enlarges Xiao Tian’s first heavenly grotto to fifteen cun 14.
- Refines medicinal and divine essences for baptisms without damaging recipients’ foundations 97.
- Uses immortal dew to repair damaged foundations and support the transformations of Xiao Tian, Shi Hao, Huo Ling’er, Yu Meiren, and Xiao Xun’er 97.
- Overflowing life energy accelerates medicinal plants, revives withered vegetation, restores missing limbs, and grants Stone Village’s elderly more than twenty additional years of life 97.
Willow Deity Method and the Dao of Death
The present-life Willow Deity Method includes the Great Dao of Death in addition to life, reflecting the cycle of withering, rebirth, and seeking life within destruction 305.
- Willow branches function like Order Divine Chains, cutting through opponents and stripping away their vital essence 18.
- Practitioners can manifest branches inside an enemy’s body and consume that body as nourishment 311 330.
- The Burial World clone teaches Xiao Tian the Immortal Ancient version; he teaches her the present-life version in return 305.
- The clone absorbs Black-and-White Life-and-Death Light through a protective branch and later controls the collected power as a trump card 413 459.
- Purifying her darkened body deepens the original self’s understanding of life and death, helping her cultivate quasi-Immortal Emperor light 532.
Nirvana, Avatars, and Survival
Repeated nirvana and numerous offshoots make Willow Deity unusually difficult to destroy 184 533.
- Branches can develop into independent offshoots carrying portions of her memories and consciousness 289 305.
- Compatible remnants share the same origin and can merge without rejection, restoring lost foundations and cultivation 411 458.
- Her powerful Primordial Spirit and knowledge of life and death allow her to condense another physical body 533.
- An abandoned body can remain a contingency even after the main self moves onward 531 533.
- Offshoots are not invulnerable: the Burial World clone begins fading after using power beyond its capacity, while the Golden Willow avatar exhausts its vital essence fighting Peak Immortal Kings 305 457.
Formations, Movement, and Cultivation Guidance
Willow Deity combines formation expertise with techniques that reveal past events and facilitate travel 18 21 168.
- Uses the Origin Heaven Secret Technique to draw earth veins into Stone Village and construct a Supreme-level array combining defense, offense, and teleportation 168.
- Relocates Stone Village using order runes before the wilderness catastrophe overtakes it 18.
- Retraces fragments of Shi Hao’s past through his memories, revealing the theft of his Supreme Bone 21.
- Opens access to the Void God Realm and transports Xiao Tian’s party toward the Stone Kingdom Imperial Capital 98 125.
- Allows Xiao Tian’s gourd forms to hang from her branches and study her Dao traces, exposing him to thousands of battles and high-level cultivation methods 95 169.
- Warns Xiao Tian against relying excessively on medicines or physical strength while neglecting Dao comprehension and Bone Text 100.
Divine Abilities Learned from Xiao Tian
Xiao Tian teaches her additional techniques after she reaches the Quasi-Immortal Emperor realm 547 548.
- Creation from Nothing: Chosen for its compatibility with her abilities 547.
- Flowers Bloom in an Instant: Controls growth, blooming, and withering; deeper applications include explosive power amplification and petals that consume an opponent’s vitality, spirit, and essence 547 548.
- Scatter Beans to Create Soldiers: Especially suited to her willow catkins and capable of greatly strengthening her battlefield presence 548.
- Golden Light Across the Earth: A rapid movement technique taught to improve her ability to escape Dark Quasi-Immortal Emperors 553.
