Moonlight joined Luffy’s journey, and the crew gathered Zoro, Nami, and Usopp while defeating Morgan, Buggy, and Kuro. With the Going Merry and the Straw Hat Pirates established, the crew reached a mysterious island after Moonlight’s sword training sent him racing across the sea.

• Moonlight awakened the God-tier Cultivation System, defeated Alvida’s pirates, and agreed to join Luffy on his journey toward the Grand Line.
• Luffy recruited Zoro in Shells Town, and Moonlight helped defeat Morgan before Coby stayed behind to join the Marines.
• Moonlight, Luffy, and Zoro defeated Buggy’s crew in Orange Town, and Nami joined them as their navigator.
• The crew reached Syrup Village, where Usopp tried to warn the villagers about Kuro’s planned attack and Moonlight found the pirates’ ship.
• Moonlight defeated Kuro and Jango’s forces, and Kaya gave the crew the Going Merry as Usopp joined Luffy’s crew.
• Usopp drew the crew’s pirate flag, founding the Straw Hat Pirates, while Moonlight frightened off a Sea Beast with Conqueror’s Haki.
• Moonlight advanced his swordsmanship and Armament Haki, then raced uncontrollably across the sea before stopping near an island.
• Luffy led the crew into the island’s forest, where a mysterious voice claimed the island as the domain of the gods and demanded they stop.

The Straw Hats gained Sanji, defeated Arlong’s crew, and helped Nami leave Cocoyasi Village to pursue her dream. After the crew received bounties and sailed for Loguetown, Moonlight displayed his growing swordsmanship and confronted pirates attacking civilians.

• Kamon told the Straw Hats that the rare beasts had become his real treasure, and they left the island after Moonlight found Ancient Text and made a rubbing.
• Johnny reunited with Zoro and brought the crew to Baratie, where starving Krieg attacked Sanji and demanded food from the restaurant.
• Zoro challenged Dracule Mihawk and was badly wounded, while Moonlight fought Mihawk until Krieg’s surprise attack interrupted their duel.
• Luffy fought Krieg, but Moonlight killed Krieg when he unleashed poison gas, and Sanji joined the Straw Hats to pursue his dream of finding All Blue.
• Nami’s attempt to buy back Cocoyasi Village was thwarted when Nezumi’s Marines seized her treasure, so she asked Moonlight for help and the Straw Hats confronted Arlong.
• Moonlight defeated Arlong and his officers, while Nami chose not to kill Arlong and later joined the crew as they sailed away from Cocoyasi Village.
• The Straw Hats received wanted posters, and Moonlight trained aboard the Going Merry before splitting a massive wave with Phantom Sword Dance.
• The crew arrived in Loguetown, where Moonlight stayed by the ship and faced a scar-faced pirate crew that had been attacking civilians.

Moonlight helped the Straw Hats escape Loguetown, protected Apis and the Millennium Dragon from Nelson’s fleet, and reached the Grand Line with the crew. After the Going Merry was swallowed by Laboon, Moonlight encountered Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 plotting to kill the whale.

• Moonlight rescued Luffy from Buggy’s execution, then held off Smoker and the Marines while the Straw Hats escaped Loguetown aboard the Going Merry.
• Moonlight crossed the sea to rejoin the crew, but a violent storm trapped the Going Merry until Dragon carried it safely through the tornado.
• Luffy chose to help Apis return home, and Moonlight trained his sword techniques as the crew sailed to Battleship Island and found Elder Dragon.
• Moonlight fought Erik and cut apart Nelson’s ships, then defended the crew from Nelson’s full fleet while Luffy and the others tried to guide Elder Dragon home.
• Apis and Moonlight used the Sea Kings to drive off Nelson’s Marines, and Elder Dragon summoned a thousand Millennium Dragons before returning to Dragon Island.
• The Straw Hats left the East Blue, climbed Reverse Mountain, and entered the Grand Line, where the Going Merry was swallowed by Laboon.
• After Crocus received the Straw Hats inside Laboon, Moonlight found Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 plotting to kill the whale and confronted them.

Moonlight and the Straw Hat crew sailed from Laboon toward Alabasta, overcoming Baroque Works agents and the dangers of the Grand Line. When Nami fell ill, Moonlight carried her to Drum Kingdom, where he saved the villagers from Wapol and helped Chopper join the crew before they set out for Alabasta.

• Moonlight and the crew escaped Laboon, and Luffy promised to return before painting the Straw Hat Crew's flag on the whale.
• After Luffy broke the Log Pose, Moonlight guided the crew through dangerous weather to an island where Zoro defeated Baroque Works agents and Vivi was revealed as Alabasta's princess.
• Moonlight fought off Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, and Mr. 3 on Little Garden, freeing the captives before the crew left with Sanji's Eternal Pose to Alabasta.
• Moonlight killed the Island Eater, and Dorry and Brogy used Hakoku to blast the Going Merry clear of the whirlpool its body created.
• When Nami's fever worsened, Moonlight carried her across the sea to Drum Kingdom, endured the villagers' gunfire, and climbed the mountain to bring her to Doctor Kureha and Chopper.
• Moonlight invited Chopper to join the crew, then protected Hiruluk's Pirate Flag from Wapol and his men with a sword strike that triggered an avalanche.
• Moonlight split the avalanche before it reached the village and defeated Wapol's troops, freeing Drum Kingdom from Wapol's rule.
• Dalton encouraged Chopper to follow his dream, and Chopper sailed with Moonlight and Nami toward Alabasta as Doctor Kureha sent pink snow over the island.
