Loki's expression turned extremely ugly. His Hexagonal Force Matrix might not have been top-tier magic, but he had woven some older Asgardian script and scripts from other worlds into it.
An ordinary person would have struggled just to pronounce those incantations, let alone recite them precisely and cast the corresponding magic.
Loki had considered such a thing impossible, yet Mercer had done it right before his eyes.
"You absorbed my warriors' memories?" A flash of shock crossed Loki's eyes.
That was the only explanation that made sense. Without absorbing those warriors' memories, Mercer could not possibly have known those incantations.
If that really was his ability, it was deeply unsettling. Loki had never encountered an enemy like this before.
"You're pretty sharp. That's one of my abilities, too."
Amid the lightning, Mercer swept both hands out to his sides. Blacklight matter surged, transforming into sharp black claws.
Lightning coated those razor-sharp claws as well.
One swipe would not only tear flesh apart but also inflict burns from the scorching lightning, dealing a second round of damage.
"Since you're already here, let me test how strong I am now!"
With that, lightning flashed over Mercer's body, and he charged toward one corner.
Having absorbed several Asgardian Warriors, he knew exactly what this Hexagonal Force Matrix did. He had nothing to fear.
With both the blacklight virus and the Rumble-Rumble Fruit at his disposal, he had been wondering where to find someone to practice on. Now that opponents had delivered themselves to his doorstep, Mercer had no intention of wasting the opportunity.
Faced with Mercer's sudden, ferocious assault, the Asgardian Warriors grew flustered. They swung their longswords nonstop, golden light flashing in their eyes and over their hands to enhance their attack power and dynamic vision.
Yet even with their enhanced dynamic vision, Mercer's movements remained elusive afterimages.
The blacklight virus had already boosted Mercer's speed to a terrifying level, and now the Rumble-Rumble Fruit had increased it even further.
In this world, only one person could challenge him in speed: the mutant Quicksilver.
Still, Mercer was not certain whether Quicksilver was a mutant or a product of the Infinity Stones. In this world, either was possible.
"Don't underestimate us Asgardians!"
One of them gritted his teeth and shouted. His hands suddenly moved faster, keeping up with Mercer just a beat behind.
Both sides moved absurdly fast. Onlookers could only hear the sounds of their weapons clashing.
Meanwhile, Loki kept urging the warriors providing the buffs from the rear to pour more magic into the formation.
"This guy isn't even fighting seriously."
Watching from a short distance away, Thor narrowed his eyes. He was a veteran with a thousand years of combat experience, and he immediately saw through Mercer's intentions.
"Why? Isn't he surrounded?"
Daisy and Jane did not quite understand. All they could see was Mercer surrounded by the warriors, whose formation had not loosened at all despite his fierce attacks.
And that still did not count as fighting seriously?
Thor kept his gaze on Mercer, watching the Asgardian Warriors surround him as he slowly explained.
"He attacks here, then over there. Whenever the people on one side get tired, he always finds the perfect moment to move to another corner and fight.
Anyone who doesn't understand would think these warriors are taking turns wearing him down. In reality, Mercer is the one wearing them down in turn!"
Both women were a little surprised after hearing Thor's explanation.
Had he been handling these people with ease all along? They had thought Mercer would gradually lose ground and be captured by the warriors.
Only after hearing Thor's words did they notice that those claws, too fast for the naked eye to track, struck with tremendous force every time.
It made them wonder whether this guy ever got tired. He had been fighting for so long without stopping.
Of everyone present, only Thor had noticed that.
But however slow Loki was to read the battle, he could not remain oblivious for this long.
Watching Mercer continue his relentless attacks after fighting all this time, Loki's expression grew darker and darker. He had caught on to at least some of Mercer's intentions.
"Destroyers, attack! Leave no survivors!"
With Loki's new command, the warriors casting spells on the Hexagonal Force Matrix suddenly redirected their magic toward the two Destroyers.
The golden energy abruptly transformed into a rich green glow that enveloped the Destroyers' legs.
They broke into a run, moving at a blistering speed utterly at odds with their enormous bodies.
Seeing this, the Asgardian Warriors in the Hexagonal Force Matrix all retreated. Those fighting Mercer immediately broke off their attacks and backed away as well.
The warriors spread out, changing their hexagon into a circle. They thrust their longswords into the ground, linking them together to form what looked like the boundary of an arena.
The Destroyers charged into the circle. One raised a steel fist larger than Mercer's head and swung it at his skull.
The oncoming attack brought suffocating pressure. Mercer had not expected this turret-like metal figure to unleash such terrifying speed.
He stepped to the side with his right foot, and the Destroyer's enormous fist brushed past his left.
When Mercer evaded its attack, the Destroyer did not pause. Its faceplate slid downward, revealing an intensely hot flame beam already gathering within.
The fist the Destroyer had thrown instantly opened and reached for the back of Mercer's head, intending to give him an Asgardian "hot kiss."
"Is that all?"
Blacklight matter suddenly erupted from Mercer's back, forming an enormous black hand that seized the Destroyer's palm and held it immobile.
Brilliant silver light flashed through Mercer's eyes. Within half a second, a battle-axe formed from lightning materialized in his hand, and he swung it straight at the Destroyer's head.
At point-blank range, the lightning axe, carrying over a hundred million volts and driven by immense force, seemed to tear the very air. Trailing lightning, it cleaved toward the Destroyer's head without any flourish.
Thud.
With a dull impact against the ground, everyone saw that Mercer's lightning axe had sheared the Destroyer's head clean off.
Immediately afterward, a black-and-white longsword appeared in Mercer's hand. He turned and delivered a horizontal slash.
A sword wound cut straight through the second Destroyer's body.
The Dark Saber's temperature was no lower than that of the Destroyer's flames. With Mercer coating it in lightning of a controlled intensity, its ability to slice through iron like butter was amplified several times over.
The material used to forge the Destroyers was certainly excellent, but the weapons in Mercer's hands were no cheap, commonplace goods either.
These things had already been extremely powerful in their original worlds. Now, in Mercer's hands, it was nowhere near as simple as one plus one plus one equaling three.
They had surpassed their original power and risen straight to an entirely new level!
