Another Encounter with the Sanguine
"Why my Aunt?" Klein was clearly taken aback. "Wait, if you're my Aunt, then who is the Goddess—?"
An answer popped into his head, but Klein didn't have the courage to shout it Exit. He asked in a shocked and confused voice, "Why would you think that?"
Neph shrugged and didn't say anything more.
Palenque Tasibu, who lived far away in the Southern Continent, also heard the story. He learned about it around the same time as Klein, but in a slightly different way.
Following Neph's orders, Palenque Tasibu sent all intelligence and information about Haiter to the Church of Evernight, successfully quelling the unrest. What followed was a long tug-of-war.
Killing an Angel is difficult; even a weakened Angel has countless ways to avoid death. Angel who have passed through the "Death God" Pathway are even more special. Therefore, Palenque Tasibu didn't have high expectations for the process. He simply made his routine Visit the Evernight Church to maintain this ambiguous "friendship."
--Until he obtained a Holy Bible in the Evernight Church.
"Oh, I don't need this—" Palenque Tasibu tried to decline.
"Take it," said the "Nighthawks," "This is Your Excellency Eye of the Goddess asked me to deliver."
"The Eye of the Goddess?" Palenque Tasibu narrowed his eyes.
As the head of the Church of Evernight in the Southern Continent, this title is well-known Southern Continent. She herself does not often appear in public, but her name is present in every major upheaval.
Palenque Tasibu, of course, knew who this was. He no longer refused the Holy Bible and took it. The "Nighthawks" then advised, "You should take a good look at it."
And so, Palenque Tasibu left with the Holy Bible, his mind heavy with worry.
To be honest, he didn't want to see it at all, but the instruction from an official Demigod made him dare not refuse so easily. After a brief hesitation, he recited a Honorific Name.
At that moment, under Klein's astonished gaze, Neph handed him a freshly made smoothie, shaking her head as she sipped it, saying, "Well, smoothies made with Beyonder Ability still lack a bit of vitality."
Klein didn't say anything; Klein was busy eating.
Neph curved her lips into a smile, using her Spirituality to evoke Palenque Tasibu's prayer. A cool aura spread through her, transforming into a voice tinged with a faint smile, "They gave it to you, so just enjoy it."
Palenque Tasibu found his answer in a white mist. He looked at the Evernight Holy Bible again and regained his composure.
Although he did not understand the deeper meaning, Palenque Tasibu still opened the Holy Bible.
He had not read the original Holy Bible of the Church of Evernight, so he did not notice anything different at first, until he discovered the existence of the "Winter Goddess" and realized that something was wrong.
The Holy Bible of the Church of Evernight contains the name of another God, and it is described in great detail!
Palenque Tasibu closed the Holy Bible with a jolt, reaching into his robes. A cold touch washed over him; he knew it was a snowflake.
Snowflake----Winter---- God of Winter ----
Putting all the past information together, Palenque Tasibu's heart skipped a beat. A picture flashed through his mind, and he suddenly remembered the vague answer, "He and I—well, we know each other."
He calls himself the Child of God —says that when he awoke, his mother was already dead—says that his mother was the God of Winter —says that he inherited the Authority of the God of Winter —no, wait— the Evernight Goddess says the God of Winter has awoke, but it is clearly—!
"What are you thinking about?" someone asked from above his head.
Palenque Tasibu looked up abruptly. The girl, with her hands behind her back, bent down to look at him, her eyes sparkling with vibrant colors.
"You're thinking—" she began, "Why am I the one who woke up? Why do I call the God of Winter my mother, yet the Evernight says I'm His sister?"
Palenque Tasibu froze.
He understood that before an Angel who ruled over memories, unless another Angel from the realm of the mind was willing to protect him, he had no secrets at all, and therefore he admitted, "—Yes."
"Hmm," Neph reached out and pulled out the Holy Bible, casually flipping through a couple of pages, "Let me think about how to tell you—"
The "True Creator" told Neph that she had absorbed the original spirit of "Eternal Winter," Neph was willing to believe it was true because she could indeed feel the changes within herself.
But these words couldn't be spoken so bluntly, so she put down the newly compiled Holy Bible in her hand and asked with a smile, "Are you familiar with the Beyonder of the Church of the Earth Mother —oh no, familiarity might not be of any use, that's probably the realm of Angel."
"What do you want to say?" Palenque Tasibu paused, taken aback.
Neph chuckled and replied, "You have a misunderstanding, Palenque."
"Why is He my mother, but I can't be Him?"
"For beings at our level, giving birth to ourselves, or having many different selves, is not a strange thing."
"I will become the new Him."
This was a rather cryptic conversation, and Palenque Tasibu didn't quite understand it. However, he did grasp the core idea: the person standing before him was likely an ancient God who had recently awakened.
Therefore, he showed obvious fear, Neph frowned at his trembling emotions, then suddenly fell silent.
"Are you scared?" she asked.
"No, no," Palenque Tasibu quickly denied, "I am honored to follow someone like you!"
However, this was not the answer Neph wanted. She glanced at Palenque Tasibu silently, then left without a word, leaving the Holy Bible behind.
She suddenly realized that she had unknowingly lost the right to speak with others face to face.
Or perhaps she never had it at all.
These words were not even suitable to be said to Klein, because Klein was still far from being troubled by such things. He was still at Sequence 4, a half-human, half- Mythical Creature, a being that had not yet completely broken free from the realm of humanity.
Moreover, Klein is different from Neph. Neph is truly alone, while Klein, even disregarding the friends he makes under layers of disguise, actually has family!
After Neph disappeared for a few days, looking down on herself, Klein took the initiative to reach out to her.
"Do you know Ernes Boyar?" Klein asked with a serious expression.
"A Sanguine?" Neph asked listlessly.
She seemed a little off. Klein noticed this detail but didn't ask immediately, simply stating, "Yes."
"What's wrong with him?" Neph asked, perking up.
Chapter 12: The Sanguine
Klein thought for a moment and replied, "This matter is a bit complicated, and it goes back a bit. In short, he sold a piece of information that was being concealed, and Emlyn, I mean Mr. Moon, decided to organize a punitive operation to teach him a lesson."
"After discussions, they decided to bring Ernes Boyar into the Harvest Church, which would have been fine, but—"
He stopped, his expression turning serious. "Before the plan began, Ernes Boyar voluntarily entered the Harvest Church, claiming that he had heard God revelation and wished to return to the mother's embrace."
"----?" Neph was startled and became alert.
Klein deduced the answer from her expression and confirmed, "This wasn't part of the original story, was it?"
Neph nodded heavily.
"Do you have any ideas?" Klein asked to confirm.
"I don't even need to think to know who did it—" Neph made a face as if she had a toothache, "But more than that, I'm curious, is he still alive?"
"Why would you ask that question?" Klein was taken aback.
Neph paused for half a second, then replied softly, "Probably because I have a deep impression of the bishop of the Harvest Church."
"----Okay, I understand," Klein shook his head, "It's a pity he's still alive."
He paused, then, under Neph's astonished gaze, replied, "After the bishop raised his sword at him, he seemed to suddenly come to his senses, knelt on the ground, and tearfully expressed his remorse—"
"----?" Neph reached up and touched her forehead, her body trembling slightly.
Klein breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "It seems you're just in a bad mood; it doesn't seem like a big problem."
Neph paused for a few seconds before realizing what he was talking about, and sighed without much surprise, "Okay, you found out after all."
"I'm just a little—well, Klein, have you realized something?"
"What?" Klein looked at her in confusion.
Neph carefully chose her words before speaking, "It seems that I have never lived a stable life in one region under one identity."
"This lifestyle led to the fact that, from the moment I woke up—well, from the moment I woke up, in fact, from the moment I entered the Forsaken Land of the Gods —I have had no friends in the normal sense."
"And I have no family of my own—"
She sighed and stopped talking, but her emotions had been fully expressed, and Klein understood her inner turmoil.
But this was actually not a very good suggestion, especially since he wasn't an expert in this area himself. Klein hesitated for a few seconds, then tentatively asked, "I think, perhaps I could be considered your friend?"
"That's different—" Neph retorted instinctively.
"What's different?" Klein asked.
Neph paused for a few seconds, her mind wandering for a moment, then she said blankly, "Hmm... I think I understand."
"You are the protagonist of the story, you are the future Fool, so we can be equals."
"The Evernight Goddess can be equal, Amon can be equal, Medici can be equal, Ouroboros can be equal, Adam —well, my My Lord— should be the one I need to respect—"
"Have you noticed what they have in common?"
"You mean to say that you never considered yourself a mortal from the beginning," Klein pointed out.
"So I have no friends." Neph laughed.
Klein didn't reply immediately. He looked at Neph, shook his head slightly, and carefully said, "I thought—well."
"Neph, I thought you already knew this."
"What?" Neph looked at him in confusion.
"From the very beginning, you never considered us as equals," Klein shook his Online. "At first, you were the reader, and we were the characters in the book. Later, you were the God, and we were the human—remember? I've repeatedly checked with you to see exactly what you considered me to be."
"No, it's different," Neph retorted. "I've never considered the people of Moon City as characters."
"Why?" Klein asked, looking at her. "Because they didn't describe it?"
Neph was speechless.
"Okay, I think I understand now—" She took a breath, "I was the Oracle in disguise, but when I left the Forsaken Land of the Gods, I truly considered myself a Oracle —you think that's the key, don't you?"
"I think so." Klein nodded.
He paused, then added, "But I think this might not be what you need."
Neph looked at him, puzzled. Klein shook his head and said, "We've analyzed why you're unhappy, but that's not the solution, and it seems you can't find a suitable one yourself."
Neph nodded.
"Well," Klein said after thinking for a moment, "maybe you need a confidant? I mean, when you have something to say but don't know who to talk to—"
"Wait a minute," Neph interrupted him, "I know who I should go to next time I'm in this situation—I know someone who can be both a Psychiatrist and a confidant, and no matter what I say, he won't get angry."
"----?" Klein stopped, a bad feeling creeping over him.
"The Uniqueness problem is that I might not have the courage to tell the truth when I'm in front of you—" Neph added quietly at the end.
Klein confirmed his premonition was correct. After a few seconds of silence, he asked, "Does your master know about this?"
"I think He wouldn't mind if I met His other half," Neph said matter-of-factly. "After all, He even had His other half do therapy for him."
Wait, what other half— Klein's mind went blank for a moment. He tried to understand the strange term, but after a while, he gave up and pretended he hadn't understood.
"Let's talk about Ernes Boyar," he began earnestly. "Where were we? He tearfully expressed his remorse, and then explained how he received divine revelation."
Neph's attention was diverted, and she looked at Klein, Klein exhaled and said, "Perhaps you still remember Alex?"
"I remember he should belong to the Church of Steam and Machinery— " Neph began uncertainly.
Klein nodded and replied, "Yes, the Machinery Hivemind covered the area with firepower. Alex died inside, without a doubt, with Arrodes as proof."
"But before that, Alex presented his carefully prepared gift to all the Middle-Low Sequence Sanguine."
