I don't eat beef
Super effective, absolutely fantastic.
Neph saw understanding suddenly dawn on the proprietor's face. He asked, "Would you like to try our luxury suite?"
"Yes." Neph nodded at once and took out a one-Pound note.
Her cash had come from Audrey and Klein, but Audrey had given her large-denomination notes, with nothing as small as a single Pound. Klein was different. Perhaps he had found it embarrassing to include soli and pennies, but the Pounds he had provided were a mixed assortment of large and small denominations.
The proprietor handed her a key, along with a ten-soli note and a five-soli note, then said with a smile,
"Your room is on the fourth floor. Would you like me to show you up?"
Neph nodded. The proprietor called someone out of the room behind the counter, apparently his child judging by their age. The child stayed by the entrance while the proprietor led Neph upstairs.
The room was clean and tidy, just as the proprietor had promised. A fire burned in the fireplace, providing a little warmth, but Neph sniffed the moisture in the air and couldn't help asking,
"Do you have a drier room?"
"This is as good as it gets by the sea." The proprietor shook his head.
Neph sighed, then her eyes suddenly shifted. She smiled at the proprietor. "Could I trouble you to move a little farther away? Just step outside and stand by the door."
Though puzzled, the proprietor agreed. Neph stood in the middle of the room, closed her eyes to sense her surroundings, then stamped her foot hard.
Crack-
Thin layers of ice formed over the walls and furnishings. The temperature plunged, but the moisture in the air finally disappeared, leaving it crisp and dry.
The proprietor's eyes widened as he stood in the doorway.
