Fawcett noticed Bruce's fingers trembling slightly. Clearly, Bruce had reacted to that description with uncontrollable fear.

"Have you seen it in your earlier visions?"

Fawcett had watched Bruce's progress ever since he first encountered the supernatural. Most of the secrets Bruce knew about that world had come from him. If Bruce knew what those Old Gods looked like, it could only have been from the visions he had seen.

Bruce dared not say it. One must not invoke a god's name in vain.

"I did see it. When I advanced to Wizard, I saw a black goat hanging high in the sky. But I didn't know it was an Old God, and I don't know why I saw that image."

Besides that black goat, there had been enormous, twisted trees, countless tentacles beneath the deep sea, roaring flames, and more. Bruce couldn't tell what they were, either. Were those the Old Gods?

Those strange visions remained indelibly etched in his mind. It wasn't exactly fear, but they left him deeply confused.

Fawcett didn't know why Bruce had seen those strange visions when advancing to Wizard, either, especially visions of those unknown, supposed Old Gods. He hadn't seen any visions when he advanced to Secret Prayer.

"Does the notebook say anything else?" Bruce asked.

"No. Apart from this Nourisher Above the Sky, there are no descriptions of other Old Gods." Fawcett shook his head. That was everything he could read in the notebook.

Since there were no descriptions, Bruce put the Old Gods out of his mind. The Wheel of Fate's letter had mentioned their dominion and their designs on the new world. He wanted nothing to do with anything involving them.

"Everyone else died, and you're the only one still alive. Have you thought about how you'll explain that?"
