Lucille covered her little mouth with her fluffy cuff, her eyes narrowing in a radiant smile.
She was rather cute.
"I came to apologize." Lucille pursed her lips and spoke with a solemn air, trying to look composed.
Rowan froze, utterly bewildered.
I've always kept my nose clean. I never fool around or get drunk and sleep with someone, and Jaina would never give me the chance anyway. Besides, I haven't seen Lucille in nearly a month. We haven't had any contact at all. What could she possibly be apologizing for?
"I'm a little confused."
"Well... um... Father told me everything. About our marriage-it's not what you think." Lucille's pretty face flushed slightly, but her heart was full of mixed feelings.
Born into nobility, Lucille had had a childhood much like Jaina's.
Children of great noble families, regardless of gender, were all raised as potential heirs.
Their upbringing had shaped their personalities to a certain extent.
At least in front of outsiders, Jaina and Lucille were model children of the nobility.
Every smile and frown, every gesture and movement, displayed the elegance of Kul Tiras's nobles.
Being well-educated, courteous, dignified, and graceful was the very foundation of their upbringing.
Lucille knew Rowan had no feelings for her, at least not yet. She didn't want him to dislike her over something like this. Then she wouldn't have any chance at all.
"Really? But I think Uncle Arthur was right." Rowan didn't mind in the slightest. Marriages between great noble families were never simply a matter between two people. The interests and repercussions involved reached far and wide.
Besides, both of them were of marriageable age. It was hardly surprising for an elder to bring it up.
Lucille was simply too nervous. Ah, poor Lucille. You've fallen for someone you shouldn't have.
