For some reason, Katrana had a natural fondness for the people of Kul Tiras.
Even though the Kul Tiran spies had made a less-than-glorious entrance, Katrana still took Number Zero and Number Seven to the finest inn in the Commercial District.
A maid served fresh tea and desserts to the three guests, bowed, and withdrew outside.
"Where were we?" Katrana picked up a piece of Sweet Cheese, took a small bite, and asked with a smile.
Number Zero had not visited such a luxurious establishment in quite some time. Ever since the Family Council's restructuring, he had felt he had nowhere to spend his wages.
Everyone ate and worked in the same place. With fewer high-end establishments in his daily life, Number Zero actually felt much more at ease.
The gap between people had noticeably narrowed.
"Young Master Rowan invited you to Boralus. Didn't I just say that?" Number Zero accepted the dessert Number Seven had cut for him, speared a piece, and put it in his mouth.
Katrana's eyes shone. Of course I know Rowan wants me to go to Boralus, but what are the terms of this invitation?
Kul Tiras was at war, after all.
Katrana nodded slightly, then hesitated.
She had not expected talking to a veteran intelligence operative to be so exhausting.
Shouldn't you tell me what you're offering to get me to Boralus?
I am a countess of the Kingdom of Stormwind, the leader of the nobles' commercial faction. You're showing far too little regard for my status.
Displeasure appeared on Katrana's face. Rowan's mouthpiece clearly knew nothing of noble etiquette.
"Number Zero, may I ask why I should visit a country at war? Please give me a reason." Katrana laid her cards on the table. Without some tangible benefits, she certainly would not leave.
