Clouds over the Far Sea formed a vast vortex in the sky as the sea wind grew stronger.

The warship pressed onward. The calm waters turned turbulent, pitching the vessel back and forth as though a powerful suction lurked beneath the sea.

Sylvanas gripped the railing and gazed at the distant waters churning clockwise, her brows knitted tightly with unease.

Archmage Jaina, standing to Sylvanas's left, glanced sideways and caught the Ranger-General's tension out of the corner of her eye. She smiled. "Don't be nervous, General Sylvanas. This is the Maelstrom, the center of the Outer Sea. The ocean's power has been gathering here for tens of thousands of years. We're sailing outside the vortex, so we won't be in danger. Just enjoy it as a natural wonder. There's no need to worry."

Hearing that from the Daughter of the Sea put her considerably more at ease.

The warship was now sailing along the edge of the Maelstrom. Inside it, concentric rings of seawater cascaded toward the bottom of the vortex, like an enormous black hole suspended over the ocean.

The more spectacular the sight before her, the more dangerous it was. Unlike the arrogance and conceit typical of high elves, Sylvanas approached everything with caution and composure.

The warship advanced steadily along its planned course. Ten hours later, it successfully rounded the Maelstrom and officially entered the northern Forbidden Sea from the southern Great Sea.

A strange energy field surrounded the Maelstrom. All six forms of energy passing through this region were disrupted by the field emanating from the vortex.

Thus, to ensure a stable teleportation spell and safely deliver the Decapitation Operation squad to Northrend, the archmages had agreed to sail past the Maelstrom and cast the spell in the northern Forbidden Sea.

Because of the great distance
