Last night's Alliance Conference had turned the plan to counterattack Northrend into a massive gamble.

Rowan could not understand how the representatives of the Alliance nations thought. How could they treat such a crucial battle like a game?

But after a night's sleep, Rowan came to his senses and finally understood what the military representatives were considering.

Attacking the Wrathgate from outside posed little risk, even if they lost. As Arthas had said, the Order of the Silver Hand would be the main force using the Book of Medivh to raid the Scourge's headquarters. The other Allied Forces would have nothing to do with it.

If the Order of the Silver Hand won and killed the mastermind inside Icecrown Citadel, the war against the Scourge would be half won. Without question, all the credit would go to Arthas.

If Arthas was unlucky enough to fail and his entire force was swallowed up by the Scourge army, the Allied Forces outside the Wrathgate would retreat. After all, it would not be one nation's army that had failed, but all of them.

The other nations' armies could not have been happier that Arthas wanted to stick his neck out. Why would they support Rowan's proposal for a steady, methodical advance?

The thought gave Rowan a headache. Ultimately, the Alliance was not a unified whole. How much cohesion could an organization held together by self-interest possibly have?

But even if Arthas was an idiot, Rowan could not simply walk away. As the representatives had reasoned, they were the attackers: fight if they could, retreat if they could not.

Leading the Kul Tiras Army alongside the other nations' forces in an attack on the Wrathgate really would not expose Rowan to much risk.

The meeting was over, and the battle plan had been settled.
