No one in the class had gotten the scoop on Kakashi's demotion from Chunin that day.
The moment Might Guy saw Obito, that was the first thing that came to mind.
"I didn't ask about the details. Kakashi's way too cold," Obito replied.
Before long, Might Duy came out from the inner room with a fruit platter and set it in front of Obito.
"You're little Obito, right? Have some fruit. Come over and play with Guy more often. I'm usually home when I'm not out on a mission."
Might Duy welcomed him warmly.
Obito nodded, peeled two tangerines, and ate as he chatted with the father and son.
Both were very enthusiastic, perhaps because Obito really was the first classmate to visit Guy at home.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! The task to visit Might Guy's home and increase your friendship intimacy with him is complete.] [Distributing rewards now. Reward 1: One copy attempt. Reward 2: A novel in the same style as Icha Icha Paradise, Make-Out Paradise.]
The system notification rang out in Obito's mind.
The novel Make-Out Paradise was also automatically placed in the system's inventory space.
Make-Out Paradise?
Obito was a little baffled. Was this really just a similar novel, rather than a rip-off of what Jiraiya had written?
Still, this wasn't the right setting, so he couldn't examine Make-Out Paradise just yet.
Seeing that the timing was about right, he activated the system's copying ability and directed it at Might Duy.
Whoosh~~
A white light that only Obito could see spread over Might Duy.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have copied Might Duy's Taijutsu: Nunchaku Technique.]
Nunchaku? Why not the Eight Gates Formation?
A little frustrated, Obito activated the copying ability again.
This time, however, he directed it at Might Guy.
Perhaps his intimacy with Guy was higher because they were classmates.
Maybe he could copy something better.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have copied Might Guy's Taijutsu: Eight Gates Formation First Gate of Opening.]
What the hell? System, are you serious? There are eight gates in the Eight Gates Formation, so you're going to make me copy it eight times?
Obito was utterly exasperated. This system really was a bit of a rip-off.
[Ding! Copying them separately is for the host's benefit. The Eight Gates Formation is not something an ordinary person can train in.] [Without a strong physique, an ordinary person cannot fully master the Eight Gates Formation.]
You don't have to tell me that. I already knew, Obito grumbled helplessly.
The Eight Gates Formation was indeed difficult to master.
Besides, Obito already had Dual Kamui, so training in the Eight Gates Formation wasn't a top priority.
Still, being able to copy this Taijutsu was a good thing.
Who would complain about having another badass ability?
This was the Eight Gates Formation, after all-the technique that had nearly kicked Six Paths Madara to death.
With that thought, Obito activated his copying ability again and directed it at Might Guy.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have copied Might Guy's Taijutsu: Whipping Leg Strike.]
Obito: "..."
System! What the hell are you doing? Why didn't I copy the Second Gate of Healing this time?
[Ding! Copying involves a degree of randomness. Not every attempt will yield the target's strongest ability.]
You're really something...
Obito was speechless.
This thing could actually be copied in installments?
Wasn't that the classic Pinduoduo "cut the price" trick?
It deliberately kept you dangling, never letting you complete the deal, just leaving you itching for more.
But Obito still refused to give up and activated his copying ability on Might Guy again.
Even with random odds, he couldn't miss every time, could he?
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have copied Might Guy's Taijutsu: Eight Gates Formation Second Gate of Healing.]
Finally, this attempt had worked.
However, when Obito checked the system panel, he saw that he only had one copy attempt left.
He decided not to use that last attempt and continued making small talk with Guy and his father instead.
"Guy! Uncle Duy! Can I try those nunchaku?"
Obito pointed at a pair of nunchaku hanging on the wall.
Having just copied Might Duy's Nunchaku Technique, Obito couldn't wait to try it out.
Might Guy's eyes immediately lit up. "Obito, you train with nunchaku too?"
Obito nodded. "Of course. Never mind nunchaku-I'm an all-rounder at singing, dancing, and rapping too."
Might Duy looked delighted as well. He stood up and patted Obito on the shoulder.
"I never would have guessed, Obito. Not only do you train in Taijutsu like the two of us, but you're accomplished in music too."
Obito scratched his head and smiled. "I'm actually pretty good at basketball too."
Might Duy nodded in approval. He took the nunchaku off their hook on the wall and held them out to Obito.
"Little Obito, these nunchaku are yours. It's rare to meet someone we get along with so well. I hope you and my Guy will be good friends forever."
Obito quickly stood up and accepted the nunchaku with both hands. "Thank you, Uncle Duy. I'll gladly take them, then."
Might Duy gave him a thumbs-up, a golden gleam flashing across his white teeth. "Obito, use those nunchaku to have a youthful showdown with my Guy!"
Might Guy was thrilled. He pumped his fists and said, "The medals of youth can't be won without hot blood. Come on, Obito!"
Obito raised the nunchaku in his hand. "No problem! Let's begin our youthful showdown!"
Then Obito and Might Guy left the house and stood facing each other in the small courtyard outside.
A gentle breeze brushed past them. Might Guy stamped a foot against the ground and launched himself at Obito.
"Here I come, Obito!"
"Konoha Whirlwind!"
Might Guy leaped up and aimed a spinning whip kick at Obito's face.
"Lightning Five-Strike Whip!"
Obito leaned backward, planted both palms on the ground, and swept his feet out like lightning.
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
Their whip kicks collided in midair, dull thuds ringing out one after another.
Might Guy landed on both feet, his eyes shining.
"That's Sharingan Obito for you! You must have copied that Taijutsu from our classmate Baoguo. Again!"
"Konoha Bad Rock Rise!"
As he spoke, Might Guy closed in and drove his elbow toward Obito's chest.
"Iron Mountain Shoulder Charge!"
Rather than retreating, Obito advanced, thrusting his shoulder forward and tangling with Might Guy.
The two traded blows back and forth.
Although Obito's Taijutsu was somewhat weaker,
with his skillful use of the nunchaku and the Sharingan's predictive vision and perception,
he held his own all the same, earning the satisfaction and approval of the youthful father and son.
Might Duy enthusiastically invited Obito to stay for dinner, but Obito made a few excuses to turn him down.
After fighting Guy for over half an hour, he was drenched in sweat. Heading home for a shower as soon as possible would be much more comfortable...
