- Latest confirmed eye stage: Mangekyō Sharingan. The Eternal Mangekyō is an identified future unlock, not an attained form 38.
- Latest confirmed ninja standing: A graduated shinobi taking the Chunin Exams; no Chunin promotion is documented in the provided chapters 40 50.
Background / History
Chen Fan entered the Naruto world two and a half years before the opening chapter, taking over Obito’s body. Knowing the original story, he feared the future in which Obito would be crushed beneath a rock and manipulated by Madara. His initial goal was to use his system to escape that fate rather than follow the original Obito’s path 1.
Obito’s parents died on the battlefield, leaving his grandmother as his only remaining immediate family. He lives with her in a slightly rundown wooden house in the Uchiha compound 9 10.
Despite his academy reputation, he trained intensely in the woods after school throughout his first two and a half years in this world. His practice included shuriken throwing and the Great Fireball Technique. He deliberately performed poorly in earlier assessments to avoid attracting Konoha’s leadership before he had the strength to protect himself 4 22.
Appearance
Obito wears goggles and, by age ten, a blue tracksuit 12 39.
- Ordinary eyes: Black when his Sharingan is inactive 2 33.
- Sharingan: Red eyes with three tomoe in the form he commonly reveals publicly 4 6.
- Mangekyō pattern: Described as triangular and resembling a windmill shuriken 2 11.
- Classmates’ impressions: One student calls him tall and handsome but criticizes his goggles as old-fashioned; Obito considers them stylish and distinctive 12.
Personality
Obito combines caution with a conspicuous playful streak. Before awakening Kamui, he hides his training and accepts being underestimated. After gaining it, he becomes more assertive, reasoning that showing strength will stop classmates from mistreating him. He enjoys teasing opponents, embarrassing authority figures, and trading insults with Kakashi 4 5 12 40 45.
His confidence does not eliminate his caution. After surviving an assassination attempt, he rejects the idea of storming Root alone because his strength is still developing. He instead stages a public complaint intended to damage Danzo’s reputation 35.
Obito is affectionate toward his grandmother, protective of Rin, and increasingly attached to his clan. Fugaku’s willingness to defend him moves him more deeply than the high command’s recruitment offers. Minato describes him as cheerful but sensitive, recognizing that Hiruzen’s protection of Danzo has damaged his trust 8 10 37 41.
He is openly interested in romance, developing a close relationship with Kurenai while remaining emotionally drawn to Rin. His attention to Kurenai sometimes leaves him oblivious to Rin’s hurt feelings 22 26 43.
Abilities & Skills
Divine-Level Copy System
Obito’s system transfers abilities and attributes from people within 200 meters 1.
- Copyable traits: Ninjutsu, taijutsu, forbidden techniques, everyday skills, chakra attributes, ocular power, and technical understanding 1 2 38 40.
- Friendship requirement: Greater intimacy—defined as friendship with the target—improves the strength of the abilities obtained 2.
- Random results: An attempt does not necessarily yield the target’s strongest skill. His early copies produce handstand eating from Guy and cigarette-brand identification from Asuma 2 27.
- Incremental acquisition: Eight Gates are copied separately; eye power and chakra attributes can accumulate as numerical points 27 38 40.
- Mission rewards: Prescribed dialogue and other system tasks can award additional copying opportunities 13 35.
Sharingan
His Sharingan supplies perception, prediction, and eye-contact genjutsu. Although his eyes have reached Mangekyō, he frequently fights using their Three-Tomoe appearance 6 17.
- Precision: Combines predictive vision with practiced Uchiha throwing techniques to place three kunai tightly together in a target’s bull’s-eye 4 5.
- Close combat: Reads incoming attacks and counters during openings, including against Baoguo’s Lightning Five-Strike Whip 6.
- Physical improvement: The awakening gradually strengthens his body, helping him fight even with the Sharingan inactive 5.
- Genjutsu: Freezes opponents through eye contact, plants instructions, and creates openings for capture or lethal attacks 6 17 34 47.
- Ocular strength: His Mangekyō-level eye power makes his genjutsu difficult for the Shimura Special Jōnin to resist 17.
Dual Kamui
Kamui provides spatial movement, an alternate dimension, and the ability to let attacks pass through him 11 33 34.
- Marked travel: Can sense a previously placed Kamui mark and travel to it through the alternate dimension. His early experiments find no restriction on this form of long-distance movement 11.
- Intangibility: Swords and a Lightning Release attack pass through his body without causing damage 34 48.
- Spatial capture: Draws an opponent caught in genjutsu into the Kamui Dimension through a vortex 34.
- Retrieval: Brings a previously captured opponent back out of the dimension 35.
- Protection: Removes Kurenai from the attackers’ immediate reach during the ambush in the woods 33.
Skeletal Hand Manifestation
Obito manifests a skeletal hand that seizes the insect-controlling assassin and holds him within range of eye-contact genjutsu 35.
- The provided passage does not name this manifestation or establish its other forms 35.
Fire Release and Chakra Natures
Fire Release is part of Obito’s trained arsenal; he also possesses Earth Release chakra 22 40.
- Great Fireball Technique: Produces a large advancing fireball. He uses it for direct attacks, battlefield pressure, and the prank that exposes Liangtian’s hidden meeting 12 17 25 48.
- Phoenix Flower Technique: Launches multiple smaller fireballs along winding trajectories 25.
- Lightning Release: Still being developed through copied chakra points; its recorded value is 115/200 40.
- Earth Release: The context confirms the chakra nature but does not document a named Earth Release technique used by him 40.
Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death
Copied from Kurenai, this genjutsu conceals the caster, binds the target with an illusory tree, and allows an attack from within that tree 13.
- Restrains Minato’s shadow clone long enough for Kakashi to destroy it 25.
- Holds the clone for only one second, owing to Minato’s reflexes and knowledge of breaking genjutsu 25.
Taijutsu and Nunchaku
Obito supplements his ocular abilities with copied martial techniques and weapon skills 27.
- Eight Gates Formation: Has acquired the First Gate of Opening and Second Gate of Healing. The system warns that fully mastering the formation requires a strong physique 27.
- Documented techniques: Uses Lightning Five-Strike Whip and Iron Mountain Shoulder Charge; also copies Whipping Leg Strike 27.
- Nunchaku Technique: Copied from Might Duy and immediately practiced against Guy 27.
- Combat balance: His taijutsu is somewhat weaker than Guy’s during their spar, but nunchaku skill and Sharingan prediction let him hold his own 27.
- Later application: Combines nunchaku strikes with Kamui’s intangibility against the three assassins 34.
Shadow Clones and Rasengan
Both techniques are copied from Minato shortly before the Chunin Exams 40.
- Shadow Clone deception: Uses successive clones to draw out enemy attacks and conceal the real Obito’s position 48.
- Rasengan: Forms a rotating blue chakra sphere and strikes the bearded enemy from behind, grievously injuring him and hurling him through several trees 48 49.
Tactics and Leadership
Obito’s knowledge of the original story gives him useful information, though he admits that his recollection of some details is incomplete 14 23.
- Predicts that Kakashi will charge Minato’s clone alone and assigns Rin to cover him 24 25.
- Directs Rin to intercept Flying Thunder God kunai while he leads the offense 25.
- Coordinates genjutsu with Kakashi’s finishing strike, earning Minato’s recognition of his leadership potential 25.
- Uses a public procession with the assassins’ bodies to force attention onto his complaint against Danzo 35 36.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Goggles — A distinctive part of his everyday appearance 12 39.
- Kunai and shuriken — Used for throwing, defense, close combat, and finishing attacks 4 17 43 47.

- Earth Scrolls — Begins the Forest of Death round with an Earth Scroll and takes Baoguo’s matching scroll despite not needing a duplicate 45.
Relationships
- Grandmother — His caregiver and only surviving immediate family member. He seeks her affection and helps with household chores; she also disciplines him when she believes he has behaved improperly toward Kurenai 9 10 11 39.
- Rin Nohara — Former deskmate and Team 7 teammate. She comforts him, worries about his safety, and works closely with him in combat. His closeness with Kurenai causes her visible hurt 2 25 43 50.
- Kurenai Yuhi — Frequent training partner and romantic interest. Their relationship develops rapidly over three months, and she openly defends him against Kakashi’s teasing 22 32 42.
- Kakashi Hatake — Teammate and competitive rival. Their daily arguments conceal a genuinely good relationship; Kakashi is grateful for Obito’s support of the Hatake family and worries when he goes missing 23 40 50.
- Minato Namikaze — Supervising teacher and source of copied techniques. Praises Obito’s planning and teamwork, while unsuccessfully attempting to persuade him to join Anbu 25 40 41.
- Shisui Uchiha — Younger cousin and close training companion. Obito initially approaches him hoping to gain a powerful ally and later considers copying his future ocular technique 9 22.
- Might Guy — Former classmate and sparring partner; source of the first two Eight Gates and other taijutsu skills 2 27.
- Might Duy — Welcomes Obito into his home and approves of his martial skills. Obito copies his Nunchaku Technique 26 27.
- Uchiha Fugaku — Clan head, protector, and source of copied ocular power. His willingness to mobilize the clan on Obito’s behalf earns Obito’s gratitude and trust 19 21 37 38.
- Hiruzen Sarutobi — Seeks to make Obito a bridge between Konoha and the Uchiha. Obito resists recruitment after Hiruzen protects Danzo rather than properly addressing the assassination attempt 9 23 37 41.
- Danzo Shimura — Attempts to recruit him into Root through gifts, then becomes his enemy. Obito refuses Root membership and later refuses Anbu partly because of the assassination incident 11 22 28 37 41.
- Hokoku/Baoguo Shimura and Mizuki — Hostile classmates whom Obito defeats, humiliates, and later terrorizes during the Chunin Exams. He explicitly has no intention of killing either of them 5 6 44 45.
- Yoko Hyuga — Fellow exam participant whose team he aids against the disguised enemies. She eagerly awaits his return after he pursues them 46 49 50.
