Obito could naturally see the fear in Baoguo's and Mizuki's eyes as they looked at him.
And Baoguo's words clearly showed that he was afraid Obito would kill him.
Obito had no intention of killing either of them, of course, but giving them a scare was still necessary.
With a mocking look, Obito said, "Is that so? But I seem to remember the examiner saying we could use any means to take someone else's scroll. The rules never said we couldn't kill anyone."
At those words, the fear on Baoguo's and Mizuki's faces became even more obvious, and both stumbled several steps backward.
Surprise also appeared in Kakashi's and Rin's eyes, and they turned to look at Obito.
But Kakashi and Rin were both very smart. Given how well they knew Obito, they naturally realized that he was deliberately trying to scare the two.
So neither Kakashi nor Rin said anything.
Midori Nara looked utterly at a loss. "Obito, we're all classmates. Even if you and Baoguo had your differences before, there's no need to go as far as killing him, is there?"
Mizuki, the lackey, hurried forward with an awkward smile to apologize. "Exactly, Obito. Even if we did some things wrong before, be the bigger person and let us off this time."
"Let you off? Not a chance!" Obito gave a soft snort.
Even now, Obito still remembered how Shimura Danzō had sent people to assassinate him, then pinned all the blame on Baoguo.
In the end, Baoguo had been inexplicably detained for a while, and the whole matter had simply fizzled out.
Although Obito had held himself back afterward and hadn't pursued the matter any further.
Now, here in the Forest of Death, he had the perfect opportunity to properly investigate exactly what had happened.
As he spoke, Obito lunged forward, charging straight at the three of them.
"Shadow Imitation Technique!"
Midori Nara clasped her hands together, crouched down, and activated her Family Secret Technique.
The shadow at her feet rapidly stretched out, extending toward Obito.
"Midori! Hold him off! We'll support you from behind!"
The shameless Mizuki knew the three of them were no match for Obito.
He scrambled backward several steps, turned, and plunged into the bushes behind him, sprinting away.
"I'll go keep an eye on Mizuki! Midori! Hold out for a bit!"
Hokoku Shimura likewise turned and fled without another word.
"You... you two bastards..."
Midori Nara looked thoroughly exasperated. What kind of teammates did I end up with...?
Who runs away to the rear to provide support?
Obito knew that the moment her shadow connected with him, he would immediately fall under her control.
So, as he leaped from side to side to dodge it, he also flung several shuriken from his hand toward her.
The shuriken spun through the air with a whistle, heading straight for Midori Nara's face.
Midori Nara now had two choices.
One was to abandon Shadow Imitation and let Obito continue forward unhindered.
The other was to stay where she was like a sitting duck, risking serious injury from the shuriken to buy Baoguo and Mizuki more time to escape.
Anyone with even a little sense would have chosen the first.
Midori Nara immediately released her control over Shadow Imitation. As she darted backward, she drew a kunai and swung it in front of her to block.
Clang, clang, clang!
The clash of weapons rang out.
Midori Nara knocked down the incoming shuriken one after another.
Once she was out of danger, she willingly cleared a path for Obito. "I know you have a grudge against those two! Go on! Go teach those bastards a lesson!"
Midori Nara was furious. She now despised those two teammates who had abandoned her.
She had never imagined she would be assigned to the same squad as two such shameless people.
"All right, thanks!" Obito chuckled and continued chasing in the direction Baoguo and Mizuki had fled.
Midori Nara's training in Shadow Imitation was still incomplete, so she hadn't actually posed much of an obstacle to Obito.
But Obito didn't want to hurt her, and watching those two shameless fellows, Baoguo and Mizuki, flee amused him.
"Huff... huff... Baoguo! Run! Hurry! Obito's catching up! He's coming!"
Mizuki sprinted for all he was worth.
But his fear of Obito ran deep, and as he ran, he kept glancing behind him out of the corner of his eye.
When he saw that Obito was less than ten meters behind him and Baoguo, he was so frightened that he pushed himself even harder, wishing he had another pair of legs.
"Stop... stop talking! Hold him off for me! I'm the one he's after! This has nothing to do with you!"
Baoguo knew full well how deep the bad blood between him and Obito ran, and that the person Obito truly wanted to make trouble for was him, Hokoku Shimura.
And so, shamelessly, Baoguo once again betrayed a teammate.
He grabbed Mizuki's arm beside him and violently flung him backward, throwing him straight toward Obito.
"Bastard! Hokoku Shimura! You scumbag! I'll despise you forever!"
As he flew through the air, Mizuki gave Hokoku Shimura the middle finger, cursing Baoguo for his shameless betrayal.
Bam!
The words had barely left his mouth when Mizuki felt a tremendous force strike his back. The pain nearly knocked him unconscious, and blood sprayed from his mouth.
"Get the hell out of my way! I'm not interested in you!"
Obito kicked Mizuki off to the side and continued racing after Baoguo, who was desperately scrambling ahead.
"Hahahahaha! Baoguo, here I come! Be terrified! Be afraid! Be angry! You'll never escape my grasp! Hahahahaha!"
Obito deliberately closed the distance little by little, laughing nonstop as he terrorized Baoguo.
Ever since copying Might Guy's Eight Gates Formation, Obito had also stepped up his taijutsu training.
With his body now capable of opening the third gate of the Eight Gates Formation, the Gate of Life.
A scrub like Baoguo naturally couldn't compare to him.
Baoguo panted heavily, so frightened by Obito that he nearly lost his soul.
As he sprinted away with every ounce of strength he had, he shouted and screamed to vent the anger he felt toward Obito:
"Get lost! Obito Uchiha! You freak! You're not human! Don't come any closer! Stay away from me! Boohoo..."
Their little chase caused quite a commotion in the woods.
The competing ninja who had been lying in ambush nearby were all immediately left dumbfounded.
"Whoa! What's going on? Do those two think this place is a playground?"
"Wait! That's Obito Uchiha and Hokoku Shimura! Hurry, let's follow them! This is bound to be a good show!"
"I heard Hokoku Shimura offended Obito before. He's definitely in for it this time..."
