But things were different now.
Obito had already awakened Dual Kamui, which made him practically invincible.
If he kept putting up with everything, he would only make his own life unbearably frustrating.
Take someone like Hokoku Shimura. The more you tolerated him, the louder he barked like a dog.
Instead, showing a little of his strength would shut people up and earn their respect.
"That's impossible! Teacher Liangtian must have made a mistake!"
Hokoku Shimura shouted and sprinted toward the targets.
Everyone was gradually accepting that Obito had scored full marks.
The spotlight that should have belonged to Baoguo had been stolen by a dead-last loser like Obito, and fury burned inside him.
But when he saw the target Obito had hit, the anger vanished from his face.
Was landing three kunai in the bull's-eye with practically no space between them really something a human could do?
At any rate, Hokoku Shimura couldn't do it now.
Most of the other students on the training ground felt the same as Hokoku Shimura. They simply didn't believe Obito had scored full marks.
But when they saw Baoguo return with his head hanging, they pretty much understood that it was probably true.
At once, the way everyone looked at Obito began to change.
Most studied him curiously, while some already had admiration in their eyes.
The more Hokoku Shimura thought about it, the angrier he became. He pointed at Obito and snarled, "Obito! Don't get cocky! When we spar later, I'll beat your face into a pig's!"
"Tch." Obito shook his head dismissively.
In Obito's eyes, Hokoku Shimura looked like nothing more than a clown now.
"Don't tell me Obito's scared! Thinking of running away before the fight?"
When Obito didn't give a direct answer, Mizuki seized the opportunity to stir things up from within the crowd.
A trace of cold menace entered Obito's gaze as he turned and glared at Mizuki.
This guy was truly irritating. Not only did he spend all day sucking up to Hokoku Shimura, but he also went out of his way to make trouble for Obito.
"All right! Quiet down, everyone! We'll continue the Ninja Tools throwing test! Anything else can wait!"
Before Obito could say anything, Teacher Liangtian called out.
He checked the sheet in his hand and continued:
"Next group: Shizune, Ibiki, Mizuki. You three, step forward and begin the Ninja Tools throwing test!"
"Yes!" The three nodded and stepped forward to begin throwing their ninja tools.
Shizune performed exceptionally well, scoring 92 in the Ninja Tools throwing test and surpassing most of those present.
Ibiki did pretty well too, scoring 86 in the Ninja Tools throwing test.
Only Mizuki, the second-worst student in the class, scored 76 in the Ninja Tools throwing test.
He had scored three points lower than Might Guy, who wasn't even good with ninja tools.
"Well, well. Looks like second-last is dead last now."
Obito couldn't help making a mocking remark.
Seeing the hateful look Mizuki shot him, Obito felt a surge of satisfaction.
What, you're allowed to annoy everyone else, but no one's allowed to annoy you?
Someone like Mizuki had spent so many years in Konoha, yet by Naruto's time, he was still just a Genin.
His poor aptitude was part of it, but he was also narrow-minded and crooked.
All he did was spend the whole day sucking up to Hokoku Shimura. How could he ever amount to anything?
If he'd trained hard in the woods after school every day like yours truly, he wouldn't have ended up a perpetual Genin.
Come to think of it, Hokoku Shimura never seemed to appear in the original story either.
A character like him was probably cannon fodder in the Third Shinobi World War, dying on the battlefield at some unknown point.
The Ninja Tools throwing test continued in groups of three.
There were twenty or thirty students in the class, and it took nearly half an hour to finish testing everyone.
"All right! We'll now begin the next round of assessment: paired sparring matches!"
Liangtian stood in front of the group, sweeping his gaze over all the students as he began arranging the rest of the lesson.
At the mention of paired sparring, the students instinctively looked toward Obito and Baoguo and began whispering again.
"Do you think Obito can beat Baoguo?"
"I don't think he has much of a chance. Baoguo's good at both ninjutsu and taijutsu."
"But why do I get the feeling Obito's going to be the dark horse among this year's graduates?"
Everyone had seen Baoguo provoke Obito earlier.
They were all eager for the match to begin as soon as possible.
Then they could find out whether Obito's perfect score in the Ninja Tools throwing test had come from genuine skill or sheer luck.
Liangtian clapped his hands and smiled. "All right! I'm sure everyone is eager to see Obito and Baoguo spar! Let's have them go first!"
Delight appeared on Hokoku Shimura's face, and he thought, Great! Now it's my turn to shine. I'm definitely going to knock Obito flat!
Obito, on the other hand, remained perfectly calm. He simply stepped out and walked toward the center of the training ground.
He had only taken a few steps when Rin Nohara called from behind him, "Obito! Good luck! If you really can't beat him, just surrender!"
Obito turned back and smiled at Rin. "Don't worry, Rin! I can handle someone like him easily."
"Tch! All he does is brag..." Mizuki's mocking voice rang out.
Obito and Baoguo had reached the very center of the training ground.
At Teacher Liangtian's signal, they formed the hand seal to begin their match.
Then both charged toward each other.
"Obito! Get ready for a beating!"
Baoguo roared, then threw a punch at Obito's chin. "Left hook!"
Obito leaned back slightly and dodged it with ease.
"And a right roundhouse kick!" Baoguo pressed his attack.
Making use of his impressive speed, he swept another kick sideways toward Obito's waist.
Obito blocked Baoguo's sweeping kick with both hands, then raised his own leg and kicked at Baoguo's abdomen.
Thud!!!
The kick struck Baoguo squarely in the stomach, sending him staggering several meters backward. He clutched his abdomen in disbelief.
"You... actually blocked my basic attack that easily!"
Obito curled his lip dismissively. "Your basic a-cluck? Too weak!"
Despite his words, Obito knew perfectly well that his former self couldn't have beaten Baoguo so easily.
But the Uchiha Clan was practically a clan of cheaters.
An Uchiha's strength increased as their Sharingan advanced.
Two tomoe meant at least Chunin-level strength, while three meant at least Jōnin-level strength.
Although Obito didn't have his Sharingan active right now.
The gradual improvements the Sharingan brought to his body had already boosted his strength considerably.
"Hmph! Don't get cocky, Obito! I just got careless and didn't dodge! This time, I'll beat you until you're crawling!"
Grinding his teeth in fury, Hokoku Shimura charged at Obito again with a savage expression.
Before you continue
