Obito awakened the Sharingan, drew attention from Hiruzen, Danzo, and Fugaku, and grew closer to Rin and Kurenai. After Sakumo’s death, Obito was assigned to Team 7 with Rin and Kakashi, and the team passed Minato’s test through cooperation.

• Obito’s divine-level copy system awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan and Eye of Kamui, and he earned a perfect score in class before defeating Hokoku Shimura with his Sharingan and genjutsu.
• Hiruzen learned of Obito’s abilities and ordered him watched, while Danzo tried to recruit him into Root and Obito declined.
• Obito exposed Liangtian and Keiko, copied Kurenai Yuhi’s genjutsu, and fought Shimura Clan subordinates who attacked him and Kurenai before Fugaku brought them to Hiruzen.
• Fugaku described the Uchiha Clan’s isolation and his suspicions of a plot, while Obito copied Fugaku’s fire techniques and focused on growing stronger.
• Three months later, Hiruzen assigned Minato to guide the graduating class, and Muki announced that Obito, Rin, and Kakashi would form Team 7.
• Minato tested the three students against his shadow clone, and Obito, Rin, and Kakashi defeated it by coordinating their attacks.
• Minato officially formed Team 7 and told Obito, Rin, and Kakashi to meet him at the bridge the next morning.

Obito joined Minato’s team, exposed a Root assassination attempt, and entered Konoha’s Chunin Exams. In the Forest of Death, he pursued old enemies and captured Kumogakure spies, returning to camp with injured allies and prisoners.

• Obito met Might Guy and Might Duy, copied their techniques, and began Team Minato’s missions with Kakashi and Rin.
• Obito sold a giant tiger, spent time with Kurenai, and fought off Root operatives sent to steal his Sharingan.
• Obito brought the attackers’ bodies to Hiruzen, exposed their Root ties, and received the Uchiha clan’s support, though Fugaku’s elders made no plan to confront Danzo.
• After a year of missions, Obito copied Minato’s techniques and entered the Chunin Exams with Kakashi and Rin.
• Obito finished the written test, then chased Baoguo through the Forest of Death and took his Earth Scroll after learning Danzo had assigned him to take responsibility for Root.
• Obito rescued Yoko Hyuga, Aoba Yamashiro, and Namiashi Raidō from Kumogakure spies, killed one attacker, and captured the other two.
• Obito returned to camp with the captives and injured allies, where Kakashi, Rin, Guy, and Shizune helped care for the group.
